      Fun, unique experience in SLC
We had a great time on our excursion. Devin was such a nice guy and provided us with some interesting info/history as well as some fantastically cheesy jokes. Would highly recommend if visiting the area and are wanting something fun and unique to do.

      Well worth the trip!
Captain Tyler was a fantastic host, full of information and interesting facts about the Great Salt Lake. I learned a lot about the origin of the Salt Lake and how many significant industrial ventures are associated with it. The boat is (my guess) a 8-12 passenger pontoon that takes you out away from the shore a good distance. Water and light snacks are provided. Once you get to a good place, the Captain lowers the ladder and you back down it into the lake. It is a strange sensation at first but then you figure out that you can just lay back and float without any effort at all. Little neck floatie pillows were provided to help keep your ears out of the water. Goggles are recommended. This adventure it totally worth the reasonable price. Captain Tyler stretched our 2 hour trip into almost 3 hours and regaled us with funny stories and historical trivia. If you are traveling from Salt Lake City to the Great Salt Lake it would be a real disappointment if you didn’t take this boat trip. There is nothing there except the gift shop, restrooms, lake, biting flies and a crummy “beach.” The boat ride gets you away from the bugs so you can actually enjoy being there. I highly recommend this boat ride and ask for Captain Tyler-he’s the best!

Bucket List Item - Awesome Experience!
This experience has been on my “bucket list” for years. I was definitely NOT disappointed! Capt. Tyler was an excellent guide - lots of interesting information and very good with the family of three children who were on board with us. The “float” was unbelievable with plenty of time to paddle around. Everyone, including locals, should experience this tour. Thank you, Tyler!

      10/10 recommend!
We had the best time on our tour! Tyler was informative and energetic, and clearly passionate about the Great Salt Lake. We had a really nice peaceful float in one location, then he took us out to a sandbar that we could walk around on and sit in the neat, globular sand. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone who is in the area on a beautiful day. It was a great way to get out and experience something different.

Great time on the Great Salt Lake
We had an absolutely wonderful time on our two hour tour and swim in the great salt lake. Our captain Tyler was great. He was so informative of not only the lake but of the area as well. Would highly recommend this for everyone, floating in the great salt lake was truly amazing. Go for it, you won’t be disappointed!!!

      Salt Lake City
Travis was a great tour guide. He took photos and talked with everyone. He answered all of the questions. He even showed us the sand and told us why it was native to salt lake. It was called Oolitic. I shared with him that I was from a town called Oolitic. Very cool.

      Awesome Experience
My son and I went on this tour to kick off our Utah and Nevada vacation. Our tour guide Tyler was extremely knowledgeable and a really nice guy. We got to get out of the boat twice, once mainly for swimming, and the second time to explore the sandbar. The views were absolutely phenomenal, and it was so much fun! Tyler was kind enough to take some pictures of us when we were in the water as well. I am so glad that we did this. It’s a must do if you were in the Salt Lake City area.

      Great Tour!
We certainly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was very experienced and informative. We spent time in the water and see caught a glimpse of the reef under the water. Would encourage you to join them and experience the unique opportunity to "swim" in salty water. :)

      Once in a lifetime experience
Amazing experience! Short boat ride out of the marina and onto the lake while our guides gave us a history on the lake. Then we got out at 2 different spots and got to swim! Our guides came prepared with everything we needed including snacks, water, Vaseline for cuts, and water to shower off or for our eyes if needed! The guides were super nice and fun to be around for 2 hours! Overall great experience and would definitely go again!

Great thing to do in the afternoon!
We enjoyed the tour very much! It was interesting to hear all about the lake and it's history. We were able to get out and explore one shallow area, and also experience swimming in a deeper area which was very fun!

Always wanted to see and swim in the Great Salt Lake
Curiosity was my main reason for going. Was this Great Salt Lake as salty as the Dead Sea? (No, but close). I'd been to Salt Lake City several times and never even saw this 'Great Lake'. This time I was going to go! I went solo and had a good time. The other passengers were all nice, the tour guide/captain of the pontoon, Tyler, was charming and informative. I was glad I'd sprung for the 2 hour tour with swimming rather than the 45 minute tour only. We went out on the boat quite a bit from shore to swim and Tyler took pics of us floating on top of the salty lake. Then we went to a big sand bar in the middle of the lake. It seems gross, but all the 'debris' out there was actually dead casings from zillions of brine shrimp! All in all a great trip. Worth the money and interesting to do. Go for it!!

Don't Miss the Great Salt Lake Boat Tour with Swimming!
Had heard some negative things about the Great Salt Lake so on a trip to visit my son and his family, I decided to book a trip for us to check it out ourselves, including a swim. Our tour guide, Nate, was awesome. He was engaging, informative, and humorous. We stopped at a couple of different places. The first stop was on a beach where we enjoyed the sand, wading out in and endless shallow area with crystal clear water, and exploring the shoreline. The second was in an open water area, where we could actually experience our buoyancy in the lake. It was an amazing experience with my family and granddaughters, ages 4 and 8. An event we would do again and one we will not soon forget! Thank you, Nate!

Unsinkable tour of The Great Salt Lake
Guide was fun and informational. The great Salt Lake is a must see. The history was interesting and taking a dip is a cool, salty and fun experience. You are truly unsinkable. Very glad we took the boat tour!

We booked a 2 pm boat ride and it was just my husband and I and Captain Tyler who was very friendly and knowledgeable! We learned so much about the GSL and how it supports the state of Utah. It was quite desolate out on the water with no other boats at all on the lake. Tyler showed us the tiny brine shrimp and their eggs along with allowing us to taste the very salty water (which we don't recommend doing near the shoreline). It was quite an experience and one that we were not expecting. Tyler explained that locals tend to shy away from the lake due to the gnats and slightly foul smell. Since we went in May there were no gnats and when out on the lake, the smell disappears! We recommend doing this (probably) once in a lifetime boat ride.

We had a great time on our boat tour. Jeff was our tour guide, and he was excellent - personable, engaging, and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond - answered all of our oddball questions, turned on his headset so we could hear him when the wind was moving faster, and even recommended a couple restaurants to one of our fellow guests. He doesn’t control bugs, visibility, or weather, but we lucked out that all of those elements were in our favor during the trip.

Warning: this tour may contain puns and dad jokes. Proceed at your own risk.

We had a great experience. The knowledgeable guide provided interesting facts about the lake's unique ecosystem, and the calm waters made for a smooth and enjoyable ride. I highly recommend this boat tour to anyone visiting Salt Lake City for a memorable and relaxing experience on the Great Salt Lake. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our boat trip on the Great Salt Lake and learned a lot about the lake from our guide. However, I would not consider it a 45-minute “tour” of the lake as our guide (as well as the other boat’s guide) took us out into the lake and then we sat there while he told us information and history about the lake. To us, a tour would have been moving around the lake and seeing various sites as the guide told us information about them. Just sitting in the lake at one or two different sites didn’t really seem like a “tour” to us. We could have sat in the boat dock and learned the information and history of the lake — or even sat under the covered area where we checked in for the “tour”.

I’m sorry you felt like our “tour” wasn’t a “tour”. Below is the exact description of this “tour” listed on TripAdvisor that you booked, “ We will do a short boat ride around the marina area, hear some stories, history and jokes about the lake, and even do a few demonstrations. And of course have time for a good picture or two. Since it’s only 45 minutes and the lake is so big and wide, we just stay near the marina and this tour is not a high speed boat ride because the captain likes to give commentary the whole time.” I’m sorry you were expecting something different but we do thank you for booking with us though.

Our boat tour began with a briefing before going to the dock. Bottles of water were handed out. The tour was on a pontoon boat with 3 other couples. Our captain was also a teacher who narrated the tour with interesting information about the lake and landmarks. There was plenty of time to take in the sites, take pictures and relax.

In the Salt Lake City area for an emotional family emergency, I just happened upon this boat tour of the Great Salt Lake, a place I'd never been before. Thanks to the open waters and the accompanying brine breezes of one of America's most unique bodies of water, this was my one "Moment of Zen" during this stressful trip. And, thanks to the warm personality, humor and knowledge that boating guide Tyler proffered our small group, this was a much-needed afternoon respite. Highly recommend this tour and ask for Tyler by name.

This was a waste of time and money. The lake is at an all-time low so the guide spent several minutes trying to get the boat into water deep enough to allow the engine to run. Foul smelling at the shore and lots of little gnat-like bugs out on the water only added to the "ambience". We motored out a ways and the guide told us a few interesting tidbits then we returned. Huh? Also, the dock to the boat is pitched at a very steep angle again due to the low water level, so if you have any mobility issues, like my wife does, be warned.

We are so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with us. Yes the water level is at an all time low and we actually had to shut down operations so you were one of our last tours. We hope to be up and running next year and hopefully Mother Nature will give us a nice heavy winter so the lake can fill up with water and make this a better experience for everybody.

So glad I did this tour with my teenage children when we were visiting Salt Lake City. Other than the beautiful lake and surrounding sites, this tour provided us with new information about the lake and it's pretty dismal future. With drought and evaporation, the lake is in a perilous state. Glad we got to do this before boats can no longer go out.

On another note, they were very accommodating with one of my children being in a wheelchair. They helped get her down and up the extremely steep ramp, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable.

My family and I really enjoyed this trip. We have a toddler, so it was important to do a brief excursion rather than something longer. It was the perfect amount of time to learn more about the great salt lake and the surrounding area. The guide provided many interesting facts as well as a "local" perspective on the area, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour if you're short on time but hoping to learn more about the lake. We also had fantastic views and beautiful pictures!
