Excellent tour guide, Paris. Recommend this tour!
We really enjoyed our tour with our excellent guide, Paris. Food was delicious and some of the Atlantans in our group had never experienced some of the places we tried - not to mention the visitors among us. The cemetery tour and ATL history was informative and fun.

      Great experience
Kristin was a great guide! We had a great time with great food tasting. And, the biscuits came out great. Kristin also made things easy and safe for me with a gluten sensitivity. We would highly recommend. (Note: there was very little walking which made it easy for my mother-in-law)

If you're hesitating on the Prohibition Tour, Don't!
One of our family's new Christmas traditions is to do experiences vs presents, as none of us need more "stuff". When I read about the Prohibition Progressive Dinner, I knew it was something all of us would enjoy, and it exceeded my expectations in every way! The customer service from their administrative staff was attentive and made sure everything was going to be as scheduled, even on a holiday week. I went ahead and bought the tickets, and we attended what turned out to be a fabulous, upscale event that we all loved! Our guide, Jen was very knowledgeable about the history of Prohibition in Atlanta, but also had a great rapport with all of the restaurants that were participating in our dinner. She was the perfect guide, who disappeared into the woodwork to give us privacy, but magically appeared right when we may have needed something. She was also lots of fun, and again, everyone in our group agreed that she took this event over the top, as far as the experience all of us had in attending this fantastic evening out. We all highly recommend this tour, and can't wait to do it again ourselves! 5 stars!!!

Fun day eating and biscuit making
Kristin was an excellent tour guide. We had a fun day touring the market and learning to make biscuits. I would definitely recommend this tour to out-of-towners and those who live in ATL.

A fun time was had by all
Arielle was a perfect tour guide, ask for her tour if you can. She brought history to life and melded our group of 11 people (adults and children) with her friendly and outgoing personality. We stopped at Six Feet Under for shrimp and grits, trout fingers, and fried okra. Then we walked around town and through Oakland Cemetery. I've been to the cemetery many times but found a new occupant: Kenny Rogers! Next we stopped at Firepit Pizza Tavern where we ate the most delicious steak pizza and pork belly toast. Finally we stopped at the busiest bakery in town, The Little Tart Bakeshop, for to go chocolate chip cookies and apple turnovers. It was a very fun outing and educational as well.

      Excellent Tour
The Grant Park Food and History Tour was one of the best things we did in Atlanta. Booking was super easy and everyone we dealt with at Unexpected Atlanta was friendly and accommodating. Communication on the day was excellent, with our fantastic tour guide, Leigh, texting us with the start time and exact location 15 minutes before the tour began. We really enjoyed learning about the history of Atlanta from Leigh who was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Oakland Cemetery was beautiful and it was really interesting to learn about its history. Let's not forget about the food, wow!!! Grits, fried ochra, corn stew, gourmet pizza, pastries and a fabulous cocktail, it was all so yummy. I recommend this tour without hesitation, you will love it!

Unique Tour and a "Must Do" When You're in Atlanta!
This tour was so much fun and incredibly informative. Jen H was a wonderful tour guide and we were very comfortable with her at the very beginning! The restaurants that were chosen were amazing and the food and drink were incredible! This was am amazing experience and to end up at the Polaris Restaurant at the top of the Hyatt Regency was the absolute best! We would definitely recommend this unique and incredibly fun tour, or should I say adventure? Yes!!

This was a very educational tour. If your are looking for speed-learning about MLK and several key individuals and how they changed the world by initiating the dialogue on civil rights and equality, this is more than worth your time! We also heard about the history of some of the key neighborhoods in Atlanta (e.g. Auburn Avenue). Joy was quite capable of painting a picture of the history and answering questions.

This was an excellent tour around the various Atlanta sites surrounding the life of Dr King. Our tour guide Margaret Spencer told the story from before his birth to his death, and then his lasting legacy as we walked through each site chronologically. She was very knowledgeable, and you could tell she cared about the story she was telling. Very informative tour overall. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

I have taught civil rights history for 14 years and learned so much on this tour. I would love to bring every student here to experience how the past is brought to life and the power of standing in this city listening to the words of the past. It still gives me shivers how powerful the experience was. Joy Warren was an amazing guide and story teller. At the end of the tour I was sad to say good bye I did not want it to be over.

Our family of four loved this tour! Our guide, Joy, was amazing - passionate, engaging, and insightful. She was so well informed not just about Dr. King but about others from Atlanta who played a key role in the civil rights movement. Joy brought this history to life with her great stories, her enthusiasm and her portable multi-media clips. This was the highlight of our trip to Atlanta. Highly recommended. Thank you Joy!

Emily was very informative! I loved the way she told the story and how she seemed so enthused to be doing so! She made everyone on the tour comfortable and seems to know a lot of people that live in the neighborhood (which is great as they all spoke to her). My husband was very impressed with the information, as this was an eye opener for him. He was glad that I suggested we did this tour because he learned a lot of details that transpired before his time. I highly recommend this tour to those visiting Atlanta and to those that already live in Atlanta as you learn something new everyday!

The MLK walking tour was AMAZING and I have to give all the credit to Joy, our guide. The tour itself was a few hours of non strenuous walking through the historic Old Fourth Ward neighborhood- it allowed me to experience the history in a better way than riding a bus or in a car would be. You make stops along the walk to discuss different people in history that made Atlanta, and the world, a better place. Joy brings along a flip book of the people she’s discussing. So, it’s not just a stop, “look at this building” and walk away to the next kind of thing. It’s a stop, “look at this historic building and let me show you the face of the person I’m telling you about” kind of thing. It was integrated to give it more of a personal feel. She also has an iPad she brings out at different points to play historic clips or speeches, which gave me chills, and made me really feel in the moment. It was just “different” in a GOOD way, than other tours I’ve been on. I can’t recommend this walking tour enough!

Nothing happens in a vacuum and the tour explained the environment and context that gave birth to the civil rights movement suggesting there still may be hope for us, yet!

I’ve taken guided tours across the US and Europe and I honestly have to say that the tour that Emily delivered through the King Historic District was probably the best. She was funny, informative, and honest...a quality that’s often missing in tours that gloss over the hardships that are the real history. Just amazing and I look forward to another visit and a chance to see what else Emily and this company will deliver.

I am glad I took the tour. Zoe was a knowledgeable and engaging guide. The itinerary was well thought-out. The tour company and guide did a good job in distilling highlights from a voluminous history while maintaining historical accuracy. The walking was moderate pace, with a break to get water and restrooms as needed. After the tour, if it is open, I recommend walking over to the historic Municipal Market (Sweet Auburn Market), which has several restaurant stalls.
