The hot springs in the first 3 miles were lovely to stop at, especially on an early cool morning start. Our guide, Jeff, was very knowledgeable and had many stories to tell during the 12 mile paddle. I’ve paddled before, but don’t do it regularly and never for that long, but the pace was good and there were many stops along the way. Don’t hesitate, you won’t be disappointed! - Companion5699870 contributionsThe Best Kayak Tour Company Bar NoneFantastic half day trip with Blazin Paddles, which was the highlight of an amazing 15 day roadtrip through Arizona, Nevada and California. Jeff (our guide) was superb - informative, fun and inclusive. We were staying in Boulder City and that’s the only reason we did the self-drive - plenty of parking and easy to find. We had a great group and Jeff brought everyone in. He seemed to know the best time to hit the different key points of the route and so to avoid the crowds. It wasn’t nearly as strenuous as we thought it might be, it was incredibly relaxing and the cool of the water was great on a very hot day. Tip - the area is classed as a National Park and we ended up visiting 4 National Parks during our trip (including Death Valley, Yosemite and the Grand Canyon), we purchased an America the Beautiful pass for $80 which gives 1 year entry to all US national parks, it saved us about $45 on this one trip alone.Written October 3, 2024
- Venture465358077860 contributionsAmazing kayak experienceWe had a fantastic half day tour with the lovely guide Jamaika, she was very knowledgeable and friendly and it was an unforgettable part of our trip. My only regret is that we didn’t book a longer tour as it went by so fast! We were there for approx 3 hours in total, including a stop at emerald cave and one of the little beaches along the river. Emerald cave is a lot smaller than I expected but that didn’t take away from the overall experience. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Drinks and snacks were provided, and Jamaika also took some really nice photos of our family. Thanks, Blazin’ paddles, for a really great tour.Written September 1, 2024

Great day out on the water. We met the group at the Lodge and jumped on the shuttle bus. The shuttles are newer limo vans, very comfortable ride in individual captain chairs with cold AC. While we drove ourselves I can see the shuttle ride from the strip is very comfortable.
You put into the river at Willow beach, they had all the equipment setup and ready to go. Dani was our guide on Tuesday the 7th and she is amazing. Very knowledgeable of the area, takes the time to explain the geography and more. Dani is very friendly, over the course of the few hours on the water she made it a point to talk with all the guests as we paddled along. She provided a great selection of quick snacks and bottled water at the few stops you make along the river, I really appreciated how keen she is to make sure her guests are getting enough water to drink to avoid dehydration along the way.
The kayaks are in great condition and while still possible to roll, are quite stable. Dani was great in her instruction of how to get started from the beach, the other guides from Blazin made sure everyone got off to a great start from the multiple groups there that day. The Kayaks have storage ports that get a minimal amount of water in them, do not bring anything that absolutely cannot get wet. While there are no lockers we were able to leave a small bag of things we did not need in the van.
If just starting out I highly suggest the half day tour, it was just enough for us as paddling is quite the workout but the kayaks slip through the water quite easily, even with a headwind.
Highly recommend Blazin, it was super easy to book online. At the lodge you check in and a couple quick digital releases later you are heading out. Next time we visit Vegas, Blazin will absolutely be part of our itinerary!
Thank you again Dani!

Kayaking was the highlight of my Las Vegas trip! Our guide, Celeste, was amazing. She pointed out interesting spots on the drive out and on the water and she was very entertaining. The scenery was beautiful, the sun was shining and it was wonderful to see another side of the Las Vegas area which is much, much more than just the Strip. All of the transportation was included - I was picked up and dropped off at my hotel on the Strip - super easy! I would highly recommend this trip for anyone, including as a first time experience for someone who has never been in a kayak.

Husband and I went on this excursion for our anniversary, it was his first time and I haven’t been since I was a kid. We had an absolute blast! We’ve been raving about it to anyone who will listen and have now decided to get our own kayak because we’re obsessed now haha. Seriously though, the tour was that good that now we have to do it like every weekend.
Celeste was an excellent guide; she was funny, punctual and had tons of info on the nature around us and other nearby places to check out. I’m pretty sure there was only 1 person in our group that wasn’t a first timer and not only did she not kill us when all of us adults collectively forgot the difference between right and left, she had us paddling around like pros by the time we made it back.
Highly, highly recommend both Blazin’ Paddles and Celeste.

This is the second time we've taken a tour with Blazin' Paddles, and it was even better than the first! If I could give six stars I would. Last year we did the half day tour, and it was great. Quality time on the water, plenty of time to hang in Emerald Cave. Then, yesterday we did the full day tour, and it was even better than I expected. Well worth being at the pick up point at 6:20 am. Beginning the tour at the base of the Hoover Dam was awe inspiring. Since this section of the river isn't open to all (you have to have a permit - which Blazin' Paddles obtains), there isn't anyone else on the water. Spanning about six hours, we stopped at two different hot springs, lunch on a beach and popped into the Emerald Cave before landing at Willow Beach. Blazin' Paddles keeps it group size small, which is great. Not only are you more surrounded by nature than people, but the smaller group size allows for quality time within your group. We will definitely take a tour with Blazin' Paddles again!

First of all, Seth, our tour guide, was awesome. My friend lives in Vegas and we wanted to do some kayaking while I was visiting. We’ve both kayaked a decent amount before, but we were looking for a relaxing tour that wouldn’t be too long and tiring in the summer heat. This tour was perfect!
We decided to do a tandem kayak to lighten the work load on each of us and it was super easy. We’re small women and we could have easily both manned our own kayak, but since we were so fast we got a lot of time to sit and look around at the mountains and the river.
This is a relatively easy trip and pretty rewarding with Emerald Cove in the middle. I recommend taking the 12pm tour so you can hopefully see the full beauty of the cove — I wish we would have done this. The water is cold so you can easily cool off in the heat. Blazin Paddles was a good choice because they’re very affordable and friendly. The Hoover Dam Lodge, where there office is located, was also very convenient to drive to. I highly recommend this company!

I recently booked a half day kayaking trip in Black Canyon, Las Vegas for a group of 10 with Blazin Paddles. The experience was exceptional from start to finish. Ryan, the owner, was beyond accommodating during the booking process and accepted our group at very short notice. The pickup and drop off at our location of choice made it totally stress free and the tour itself was equal parts breathtaking, fun and informative. Our 2 guides, Lauren and Matt, really made the day with there attentive but relaxed attitude. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone staying in Vegas, it’s a great way to get out of the bright lights for a few hours. They also offer a night kayaking trip and a full days trip, I only wish I had time to do these as well. Excellent day, excellent service and reasonably priced.

I did the half day kayak tour on Monday and it was absolutely incredible. I was picked up from Mandalay Bay at 9am and on the water by 10:30am! There was a quick stop at the Hoover Damn lodge (where their office is) to sign waivers, use the restroom, and purchase any last minute items such as hats/water shoes/dry bags. I was pleasantly surprised with how affordable their items were as they weren’t using it as an opportunity to price gouge, but more so a chance to buy things that will make the tour more comfortable and convenient in the event you didn’t know you needed these items.
Melissa and Celeste were our guides and they were informative, hilarious, and patient the entire time. The four mile tour flew by and was an amazing time. I highly recommend this tour if you don’t want to spend a whole day away from the Vegas Strip, but want a breath of fresh air from partying all day/night long. I’m looking forward to my next trip to Vegas, and I’ll book either their twilight tour or extend my stay and do the full day tour. I really enjoyed being back at the hotel by 4pm so I might repeat this one again because it was so much fun.
5 stars and 100% would recommend!

My wife and I booked this trip on our recent visit to Las Vegas, and we absolutely loved it. She was actually five months pregnant at the time, and we were a little worried that the trip might end up being too strenuous. That wasn't the case. It was a pretty relaxing tour, and neither of us were sore at the end. The kayaks were comfortable, sturdy commercial models, and our guide helped adjust the seating and foot petals to fit. The scenery was gorgeous. Our guide, Reid, was absolutely awesome, a consummate outdoorsman. He was very patient with the river newbies. My wife and I aren't experts by any means, but we've been in our fair share of kayaks at the Great Lakes, the Outer Banks, and the Florida Keys. Reid offered a pretty detailed introduction to kayaking, and we both learned a thing or two. He took more care in leading our group, drawing the eye to the incredible flora and fauna, and exploring the really interesting natural features of the canyon than I was expecting, and it really placed the experience a few notches above what I expected it to be. This excursion isn't necessarily the best venue for folks that want to explore the river on their own. My wife and I have done that kind of thing before, and we recognize its merits. But we were very glad to have booked this guided trip with Reid at Blazing Paddles because we feel that we got much more out of the river and the canyon that we would have on our own.

Went on a trip with a group of ten last weekend and really enjoyed it! Dani was our tour guide and she was outstanding. She was friendly, energetic, upbeat, and knowledgeable. She did an excellent job explaining different aspects of the lake; including a brief history of the Hoover Dam, and commentary on some of the wildlife. We actually saw a family of big horned sheep at the tail end of the tour and that was just awesome!
We did the half-day tour, which started at 8am and ended around 2pm. Not super rigorous for anyone wondering how physically challenging it might be. I would suggest bringing sunblock and water;however, Dani did provide additional water and all the snacks we could eat. Good snacks too, like Cheez-It, granola bars, and choices between healthy and sugary snacks.
It really was a beautiful tour and the emerald cove area was as green as its namesake. Our group had time for pictures and videos and we did not at any point feel rushed, like on some tours. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to get out and get some fresh air. The water is refreshing and the history is very interesting. If you are looking for a thorough guide who is friendly and brings a great vibe, Dani is that guide.

Our experience started with Kelly contacting me with the directions for the pick 24 hrs prior to our wonderful experience. She was very helpful and answered every question I had quickly. She put my mind at ease, since I had never done this before.
On the morning of our kayaking excursion Reid our guide was on time and scooped not only us but all other 10 people in our group quickly and safely and we quickly on our way. We all talked on the way and he established a repoire with everyone in the group. Because of Reid we all knew where everybody came from and we were all looking forward to our experience together.
Reid spent time with everyone to make sure they were comfortable in there experience and with him as the guide. He was constantly giving us information about the river we were on. We had the best time. He even helped in the end when I was frustrated with the current and ready to give up.
He never stopped finding way to enhance our experience. He even took us on a mini tour of the area hru and showed a treat. Reid made sure that there was no doubt that this was a highlight of our trip. We will definitely be back next year

Written June 21, 2021
I believe you can as you can bring snacks and drinks but I would confirm with them first.

There is a party of 5. One has a walking boot from where she broke her foot last week. Do you think a boot cover would be sufficient to keep it dry, or is this tour where you get really wet. Thanks

Hello is there a weight limit on using kayaks?
Written February 1, 2020
I am 6 feet tall, and I weigh 220 pounds. I found the kayak to be comfortable and easy to enter and navigate. Weight is less of an issue than temperature. In the summer, prepare with hats, sunscreen, water shoes, and lots of bottled water. In the winter, prepare with hats, gloves, water shoes, and layers of clothing. Regardless of temperature, this really is an amazing experience. We saw big horn sheep fighting for dominance, we saw bald eagles nesting. The entire experience is so entertaining. Highly recommended....

I Have never kayaked before. Will I be able to do it?
Written April 12, 2019
You will absolutely be able to do this. You can always go in a double kayak so that there are two of you to do the paddling if you are worried. The guide will show you how to paddle and control your rudder. Don't let not having ever done this keep you from going.
