Itinerary

Meet at Friday Harbor in San Juan Island at your selected time and board the boat for your whale-watching cruise. Climb aboard and choose a seat in the heated cabin with large viewing windows or head outside for a spot on the walk-around deck.

As you cruise, be on the lookout for whales and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Stop in prime locations and observe the species up close. Your seasoned captain is on hand to teach you about the ecology and geology of the waters in the region.

While it’s not guaranteed that killer whales will be seen on this tour, they are spotted more than 90 percent of the time. Minke, humpback, and gray whales are also often spotted in this area.

The tour ends at Friday Harbor where it began.

Zodiac tour

This was most informative and fun Whale watching trip we have ever been on. We saw so many Orcas and variety of sea life, I am still smiling. Our Captain Gabe was great. I highly recommend this trip to all. Thank you, Lynn and Donna

First time seeing orcas!!

What a wonderful way to see my first Orcas. This trip was amazing— the crew worked hard to find the resident pod, with sea lions and birds and beautiful scenery on the way. Captain Gabe and Crew Piper and Marianna were all very knowledgeable and...More

Scratch this off my Bucket List!

Wanted to do this for the last 25 years, specifically sighting Orca whales. Not disappointed! The captain and naturalist Alexandria were ever so accommodating. Followed a pod of 20 orcas for at least an hour. Words are insufficient to describe the awe and wonder of...More

The sunset tour is gorgeous, but it can get cool and windy. I'd suggest carrying appropriate clothing.

There are a couple of ways. The first, and my favorite is to fly there through Kenmore air’s Northwest Seaplanes. It’s $130 a person. Second, If you already have a car, this is the easiest, and that is to drive to Anacortes... More

Have a look at the website for sanjuansafaris and it has a picture of Sea Lion the boat we were on. It had seating inside and out so people tended to move around. I'd say it is around 40' long.
