We had a great tour with Nate. We booked 5 people, there were about 17 people altogether in the tour. Nate was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and the rich culinary history of this city. The samples were plentiful and I especially enjoyed the alligator sausage (an entire sausage on a stick, beautifully spiced, from Nawlins' at the French Market). I would absolutely recommend this food tour to anyone looking to enjoy a taste of the city but more importantly the history. The prospective that was given even somethings I didn't know, and I'm a history buff along with being a culinarian. There is so much more I could say but check it out is what I will say.

Husband and I just finished a tour with Nate (he was awesome). Nate loves NOLA and it shows! If you are so inclined and your guide suggests a specific cocktail (worth the extra charge) — by all means, listen. We started at 1030 and finished at 1330. I know a lot more about NOLA history than I did yesterday. Now remember, these were sample portions but, I’m fairly certain I won’t be able to eat any more today. We tasted Boudin at N’Awlins in the French Market (a first for us and delightful}, Shrimp Po Boy at Market Cafe in the French Market also (do try the Crystal hot sauce - mild but good flavor) and pay extra for the pickle/bacon Bloody Mary (you’re in New Orleans for Pete’s sake). At New Orleans Creole Cookery we had Jambalaya & Gumbo and learned which is Creole and which is Cajun and why (I’m not telling - take the tour!). A run by the New Orleans School of cooking to snag a praline (we all pronounce it incorrectly — the “a” is soft not hard. I never knew). And finished at Oceana Grill with gator bites (I did put one in my mouth to say “yes I tasted gator” then —- I ate the rest and LIKED it). One must at least taste to be able to give a negative response (if negative is appropriate!). All in all it was a fun and informative 3 hours. Met nice people from all over in our group of 15 participants. Hope those 3 kids from London had fun and stay safe for the rest of their time in the U.S. So, 2.5 hours later I’m still full! Well worth the effort to take the tour — you’ll love it!

The tour was excellent. I called Destination Kitchen ahead of time and left them a message to let them know about my husband's tree nut allergy. They called me back to confirm and told me that the only item he could not eat was the pralines at one of the stops. On the tour day, we walked over to the meet-up at Roux Royal, a cute gift shop. Our guide, Laurent, found us, and we confirmed my husband's allergy again. We were given free pre-packaged cookies, offered coffee, and looked around the gift shop while waiting for others in a group to arrive.
My husband tried everything on tour except the free cookies at the start and the pralines at the end. We had about six stops on tour and tried a wide variety of dishes, most I had never tried before, and many were delicious. We were so full by the end. We learned so much history from Laurent, who recommended many places to eat, so make sure to take him up on his offer and ask! I recommend this to anyone interested in trying different foods, learning history and wanting to get a tour with a small group in the French Quarter.

The New Orleans Culinary Food Walking Tour was an extreme disappointment. While Susan, our tour guide, was lovely, the food served and the establishments visited were not up to the standards one thinks of when in New Orleans. It was basically a walk down North Peters Street and the French Market. Not the French Quarter nor "behind-the scenes look into local kitchens" as listed. Having been on several beer tours I was under the impression that this tour would be similar to a brewery tour, where you sit at one table as a group, do a tasting and then have a brief discussion with other attendees about the beer. That was not the case at all. There were about 12-13 of us in the group and we had to sit at several separate tables. There was hardly any interaction as a group.
We were served, in order: wrapped shortbread praline cookies, palas (fried rice cakes), boudin sausage, bread pudding, shrimp po' boy, chicken & sausage gumbo and chargrilled oysters. (Our group of three left before the last item.) Upon our arrival to the French Market, Susan said that one of the stalls served the best crab beignets but they were NOT included in the tour and cost $9. Boudin sausage was served to us from another stall in the French Market where there was no seating. It is difficult to eat boudin standing up. Then the bread pudding was served cold and the other part of the restaurant provided the shrimp po' boy, which had no seasoning on it. It seemed that all of the food was cold, except for the palas. For the $234 the three of us spent on the tour we could have gone to Antoine's or Arnaud's and had a much more memorable New Orleans culinary experience.
Lastly, the online picture of the shrimp appetizer on the mashed avocado looked nothing like food we were served.

My wife & I took this food tour Jan 27 2023. We met our tour guide at Roux Royale. Her name was Kristi & she was very colorful & knowledgeable. She not only new the history of the food but was extremely informative concerning New Orleans in general. There was 9 in our tour. We sampled Praline Cookies, Calas (Bon's), Alligator Sausage, Bread Pudding (Gazebo Cafe), Shrimp Po- Boy, Gumbo & Charbroiled Oysters (Creole Cookery), then Pralines again (New Orleans School of Cooking). I would highly recommend this tour especially to visitors very limited on time in NOLA.

We were a group of 8 in New Orleans for a bachelor party. We signed up for this food tour and had an amazing time. Our tour guide (Nate Alston) was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and the food we were eating. His passion and energy ensured we were having a great time for the full 3 hours of the tour.
Food tastings were a healthy mix between desserts and main course food (Going to be honest not sure what you would call that). Nate also had recommendations at each stop for drinks that we should try. Our group thoroughly enjoyed each of the suggestions.
Would definitely recommend this tour if you want to try some food you otherwise wouldnt and get a brief history of the area. Thanks again Nate!!

This was not just a food tour - it was so much more. I loved that they sent a confirmation note and ensured that you notified them of any allergies. Our tour guide Jack was great - friendly and knowledgeable. We were welcomed with packaged pecan cookies and walked to our first food stop, but on the way we toured the streets and learnt the history of the city and its buildings. We stopped at different establishments to sample food and learn of its history. The foods we had were cajun sausage, shrimp po' boy, bread pudding, gumbo, jambalaya, alligator bites, and pralines. It was a great way to tour the city and try different foods. He also provided his own restaurant and activity recommendations which was appreciated.

We had an interesting and delicious tour with Nate. He had a lot of stories about the history of New Orleans and took us to several places to try the cuisine. We did the 10:30 tour and were glad we didn’t eat breakfast as there was plenty of food to fill us up! Would recommend this tour to anyone who hasn’t tried some of the local favorites. Nate made it very interesting and really tried to make sure the whole group could hear what he was saying,

I highly recommend this tour. Nate A. was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about his city. He showered us with history and stories about the origins of the food. He shared with us, his favorite foods and places both on/off the beaten path. There were about 5 or 6 stops, with a moderate amount of walking. If you walk slow or with cane, there were no problem as the food stops were sufficient for a rest. You had time to buy a drink at most stops. Water was provided at each stop, but you had to order and pay for sodas/alcoholic drinks. The food was fully representative of the flavors of New Orleans. The portions were enough to get a good taste, and combined, certainly enough to count as a meal. I highly recommend this tour!

The best tours I have been on have been those where the guide has shared about himself. It makes the experience more personable and enjoyable. Laurent’s tour of the French Quarter was both. I have taken a city tour that passed through the French Quarter in a van, but you literally get the flavor of the French Quarter by walking the streets with Laurent.
I’ll get to the tour itself in a moment, but would like to thank Laurent for his patience. My wife has difficulty walking, and we had to walk slowly for her. Laurent waited until we arrived at each stopping point before presenting. Thank you. The streets of the French Quarter can be called ‘uneven’ at best, and I’m very glad we bought trekking poles at Costco. It gave my wife and I extra balance for the walk. She has bad knees, I have neuropathy. I would not recommend for those who must use scooters, due to the rough urban terrain.
The tour is a wonderful tasting and learning experience. You learn about the history of the city, the difference between Cajun and Creole food, and the influences of all the different cultures.
And of course, there is the food. The tour company obviously cannot guarantee what will be available on the tour. We sampled muffuletta, alligator, oysters, gumbo, jambalaya, and pralines. We stopped at both indoor and outdoor venues.
At the time of this writing, we are still dealing with the pandemic, but we have turned the corner and hope is on the horizon. There a 24 hour vaccination festivals going on here as I write this. For now, prepare to mask up. If it is difficult to walk while masked, you may take it off, but keep 6 feet distance. My wife was vaccinated already, and I most likely have immunity from having COVID 2 months previous, so we felt very comfortable with the precautions on the tour.

Hello, we are in New Orleans Sunday 10th and Monday 11th. I am very sorry we had not booked your tour in time as it is now booked up. Is there any possibility that you could fit us onto a tour at any time either of these days? It would be very much appreciated. Many thanks, Sinead Boyle.

We went on the tour Thursday 4/7 and we weren't asked for proof of vax/negative test. I could be wrong but I believe N.O. cancelled that requirement the end of March, although we did have our 'proof' just in case.
