Highlights
  • Explore one of New Orleans' busiest areas without worrying about getting lost
  • Safely go to a voodoo ritual shop with a guide who’s familiar with the religion
  • Quickly find Marie Laveau’s grave from thousands of headstones
  • Easy-to-find meeting and drop-off points in the French Quarter
What to Expect
Your tour meets in New Orleans' French Quarter, where your guide first shows you some of the well-known architecture of the area, such as the Creole townhouses and shotgun homes. As you go, your guide shares stories about the city’s rich voodoo history and famous practitioners of the religion such as Marie Laveau. Your guide takes you to St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, one of the city’s oldest cemeteries, which opened in 1789. At the cemetery, see the famous tomb of Laveau, as well as other former voodoo masters. It's often difficult to view the city's cemeteries without a guide, and this tour ensures you are not only able to enter quickly, but also find the most interesting tombs. Before your tour ends, see more crypts and mausoleums in the cemetery and move to a discussion about Voodoo in America. Your tour ends in Congo Square in Louis Armstrong Park in mid to late afternoon, and your guide can provide directions back to the starting point or your hotel or recommendations for what to do next.
