Stroll with a Local through Savannah's Historic District
US$45.00
Overview
Take a leisurely stroll through the Savannah Historic District on this guided, 3-hour walking tour. Together with a lifelong resident of Savannah, visit one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the US. See the historic homes as well as the houses of the South’s most famous generals. Visit the buildings from the war years of the 1860s. Learn about the town’s storied past, its African-American history, its military strategies, the important women who lived here, the Confederate States’ place in the Civil War and much more.
What to Expect
The tour begins at 9:00am and departs from the NW corner of Telfair Square, across the street from the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences.  On this Tour you will learn about Mary Telfair, one of the most important people in Savannah's history. You will then learn a great deal about the city's antebellum African American history as you wind through Franklin Square and City Market.

Next, the tour heads up Bull Street and makes a stop at Wright Square Cafe and Chocolatier for the group to enjoy refreshments. On Sundays, the cafe of choice is Gallery Espresso at Chippewa Square. After the break, it's anybody's guess! The guide may take the group east to Abercorn Street or continue further south down Bull Street, depending on what guests have expressed a desire to see. No canned routine here! Your guide is responsive to your interests and no two tours are ever the same.

Your tour concludes around noon, so you have plenty of time left in the day to visit the myriad other attractions in Savannah or take it slow and head to lunch.

Bonnie is very knowledgeable and has organized her tour both as a highly informative highlight of Savannah's history and beauty and also as an introduction to further independent exploration. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend Bonnie.
