Love, love, love this tour, and all for that matter!
Our group has taken countless tours with Kevin of New York Historical Tours, and, like all of them, this one did not disappoint. I hadn't been to the museum since my children were young and forgot about all the amazing exhibits. My appetite has only been whetted to go back and see more! Kevin always makes everything interesting and provides so much behind the scenes information and history! I highly recommend this tour and any of the others! You can't go wrong!

Another Amazing Tour of NYC- The Jazz Age!
This is our second tour with NY Historical Tours & Kevin. We thoroughly enjoyed the The Roaring 20's Tour: Swing, Style and Social Revolution tour. We learned so much about that period in NYC and got to see so many places during the tour that were landmarks of that era: The Edison Hotel, Sardi's, Rockefeller Center, and more. The biggest plus is we learned so much about the history: the people, the significance, and more of each place during that time. All of us enjoyed it and my two college age daughters found it so interesting - they were listening the whole time. Kevin is a dynamic tour guide and really moves you through the places and time period in a very interesting and understandable way. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

    Excellent!!!!!
This was so fantastic!! My husband and I went on the Lower Manhattan & the Financial District Tour over the Thanksgiving holiday! We were floored at how much history was there! We loved every bit of it!! Whether you are visiting or live in NY, make time for this! You will gain so much knowledge about this area! Fantastic tour and Kevin was filled with knowledge and things you would never know about!!

A brilliant tour- a must for anyone even vaguely interested in history
A brilliant tour. My husband is a real history buff and loved it. Kevin’s knowledge and historical insights, linking the past to the modern day, were fascinating, it was a real pleasure listening to him. We would absolutely recommend this tour (and Kevin in particular) for anyone with an interest in history. It was the highlight of our trip to NYC, which is saying something! Charlotte and Henry

    Best Met Tour EVER!
A NYC trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Met, but to be honest, we almost skipped it. We tend to lean towards attending sporting events, broadway shows, shopping, etc. But now, we see the Met differently after our tour with Kevin!! He was a fabulous tour guide, the absolute best! We signed up for a private 2 hour tour and at first glance, the Met appeared overwhelming - too many things to look at and so crowded. My 16 yr old son and I joked with Kevin when we first met and asked for an even more condensed, ultra quick tour, lol BUT Kevin made the tour way too good! His stories and insider information/details were so interesting, we both found ourselves wanting to stay and learn even more! He was so knowledgeable - we couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable afternoon. It turned out to be one of the top highlights of our trip! Highly recommend Kevin and his tours - we plan to sign up for another and probably would not visit the Met again without him - he has 10 different tours for the Met alone and his Gilded Age tour sounds amazing!

Go to the room where it happened
What else can I say? Kevin is the best at what he does. His love of the city was evident as he walked us around lower Manhattan. I really believe Kevin had to hold back because the tour was only two hours and there was not enough time to share all of his knowledge. For our tour, Kevin adjusted the time and start point to accommodate our schedule. Kevin provided stories and history and kept us captivated for 120 minutes. It was really too short of a time as it flew bye. I am already planning my next trip to NYC and will be sure to use Kevin again. `

    Kevin is the best guide.
Kevin was a consummate guide. Telling us nice bits of the history of the museum. Really good. Love the place. And a guide helps you see all of it.

I gave my husband a private Gilded Age tour as a Christmas gift and we went on our anniversary in mid-January. Kevin Draper was an incredible tour guide! While it was a cold day, Kevin made sure we stopped off in the sun and brought us inside when he could. Quite honestly the tour was so interesting, that the weather didn’t distract us. We’ve both lived and worked in New York City so are very familiar with the city, but we learned so much! The best part is that we still live nearby as we definitely will come back and do several more tours with Kevin and bring our friends. Highly recommend and definitely worth the price of a private tour - you won’t regret it!

Kevin was an exceptional tour guide who was immensely knowledgeable about the different aspects of Gilded Age society (commerce, architecture, culture, politics) and was very knowledgeable about New York City at large.

Kevin was personable, engaging and made the entire experience. He even offered to take photos of us at the landmark locations we visited! The tour was the highlight of our trip and well worth the price of admission.

We will be back again soon!

This tour was amazing. Kevin was incredibly knowledgable and professional and we learned so much about the culturally elite and how they contributed to life in their own times and also how their legacies have enhanced and shaped life today. Kevin took us to many wonderful sites - some well known and others more obscure - and took time at each to impart a wealth of information. He introduced us to several smaller museums along the way that we could explore on our own and despite having grown up and lived all our lives in the tri-state area, were unknown to us. We visited two of these wonderful spots immediately after the tour which only further enhanced our experience. The pace of the tour was perfect and would be well tolerated by anyone with enough stopping points during which Kevin spoke in detail about each highlighted site with a breadth and depth of knowledge that would rival an Ivy League college professor! We will definitely be telling our friends and colleagues about Kevin and our day and most certainly will be back for another tour with Kevin in the very near future.

Recently we joined some friends to take this private walking tour without any expectations of what we would see. What a wonderful surprise when we met Kevin and saw how he “brought to life” the Gilded Age. Kevin truly knows the history of New York as he demonstrated in all our questions and facts he shared. Kevin made us feel like a guest in “his” home(town) as he took a personal interest in showing us around. Hope to see Kevin in the future on additional tours!

We spent the morning with Dan going through the history of the Gilded Age up and down Fifth Avenue. Dan was fantastic and treated us to many stories about the people and incidents that occurred during that time period. We have been to New York before, but never knew about all the interesting architecture and personalities that called New York home. We highly recommend this tour even for veteran New Yorkers.

If only there were more stars… For fans of the Gilded Age, fans of history or fans of NYC in general, this tour is a MUST. Billy is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining, and two hours went by way too fast. Locas and out-of-towners alike will love it. Well worth the price tag.

We had thought hard about whether we should afford the "luxury" of a privately guided tour, but the fact is that the tour with Kevin was without a doubt worth every dollar.
Not only did we have an extremely interesting guided tour (Gilded Age), which we could never have done with a book as a guide, but Kevin was also able to elaborately answer our detailed questions.
My advice to anyone considering whether or not to take a tour in NYC is to get in touch with New York Historical Tours. I know I'll definitely book another tour with Kevin next time I'm in New York.

Kevin Draper led us on this 2 hour private tour starting at the Plaza Hotel and finishing on Museum Mile. He is a wonderful historian, teacher and guide and told the story of the turn of the century millionaires, industrialists and business people who built their fabulous mansions alongside Central Park and who helped create the city - and built the nation. This was an outstanding tour - the most interesting and rewarding experience we have had in numerous previous visits to New York.

My sisters and I took this tour as part of our girls trip to New York. We loved it! Kevin our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the Gilded Age. We loved hearing the stories about the families and Mansions of the area and we especially liked seeing inside a couple of the properties. We highly recommend this company and tour.

Kevin was a dynamic, engaging, deeply knowledgeable guide through some of the most beautiful homes and estates built during New York’s Guilded Age. We learned so much about the city, the era, and the people who shaped the time. Can’t recommend highly enough!
