Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kellycV4790HD0 contributionsFantastic!10/10. Megan was our tour guide and she was fantastic. She told the stories with such passion that you could truly picture everything. I would recommend this tour to anyone, and plan on doing another one when I am next in NYC!Written May 7, 2023
- brandontaylormiller0 contributionsGreenwich villageLoved it! Loved my tour guide. Group was small. Guide was so personable and informative. It’s a great excuse to learn more about nyc history, but also to see architecture and photo ops/instagrammable shots. I lived in nyc for 11 years and these stories were new to me.Written October 1, 2018
- urbanflight0 contributionsDisappointing.I expected drama and fun. We got a workmanlike recitation of facts about a handful of sites around the West Village, and lame suggestions of ghost citing. I learned a couple of things, but it was a very hot, humid night, and I wish the guide had more dramatic skill.Written August 27, 2018
- Stacy S0 contributionsGreenwich Village TourElise was our guide, and, the company's owner, researcher and writer. She was amazing, and obviously fascinated with New York's history. The stories were well researched and interesting. Most of the people in the tour were New Yorkers like me, but we all learned so much, and were drawn in by Elise's enthusiasm for her subject. At the end, we all received a list of the stories we heard, the dates they occurred, and a list of her source material if we wanted to find out more about any or all of what we learned. I highly recommend this tour to everyone. I guarantee you will never look at some very familiar places the same way again.Written October 20, 2017
- Sarah H0 contributionsFantastic!Took the tour on thursday night with my dad and best friend and the three of us loved it! We had a great time learning about the history of the area and hearing about all the gory details! The only downside to the night was the pouring rain!Written October 31, 2016
- snljwr0 contributionsFun walking tourWe had a great time with the ghost tour. The tour guide was great and we had a good group of people. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it wasn't crazy scary. Overall good time and I would recommend it.Written September 19, 2016
- Nevada M0 contributionsFantastic mix of haunting stories and historyWe had Katherine (Catherine?) as a tour guide. Our group was 4 people, so we got a much more intimate tour. Our guide was very informative and theatrical. She made the tour interactive and she was compelling with her storytelling. We did the Greenwich Village tour and it was so varied, we saw so many parts of the village. At the end, she gave us a reference sheet so we can do our own research, which I really appreciated. I wish I could have done the Hell's Kitchen tour, but our trip was over too quickly. Would highly recommend!Written August 16, 2016
- DNH770 contributionsGreat Tales of Darkness and MayhemMy date and I attended a Hell's Kitchen tour in August, 2016. We were fortunate to have Meghan as our guide and she was excellent, not to slight the other guides who may be just as talented. This particular tour dealt only slightly with ghosts while focusing on various murders and their significance within the neighborhood. Meghan was interesting and entertaining and I would highly suggest attending a tour if you have the opportunity.Written August 13, 2016
- Marie R0 contributionsGhost Tour in NYCThe Tour guide was very lively, great personality, great sense of humor and able to engage you in a the Stories she wants to share. That makes the walk around the city fun. I rate the tour high based on the guide..Written May 29, 2016
- PhillyMike0 contributionsFun Time, and new perspectives...The two hours went by really fast. The presenter (who I forget her name) was incredibly clear, friendly, outgoing & knowledgeable. As others have noted, this tour isn't really scary, but it hits a lot harder and closer. Things you know about NYC, Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, Lisa Steinberg, etc.. but you forget about. And this tour presents it with an incredible level of respect and honesty. Which makes it more disturbing that some ghosts. Note, a gratuity was not expected, but we tipped the tour guided, she was that impressive.Written October 23, 2015
- Megan P0 contributionsSurprised and captivated, even as a localThis was a great tour. Meghan was fantastic, and led a solid 2 hour tour full of fun stories and legends I've never heard, even as a local. You do walk a lot so bring comfortable shoes!Written October 19, 2015
- Debbie S0 contributionsLOVED it! Great creepy history facts!I really loved this tour! Our guide had so much cool history on super creepy real murders and terrible things that happened in Hells Kitchen. Super gross and awful but super interesting! I loved it. I can't wait to do all of the other tours! I highly recommend. I wasn't bored for a second, and the time flew by. I didn't want it to end! Plus some parts of the city I had never noticed or seen before were pointed out to me - very cool since I've been living in NYC over 12 years!Written September 1, 2015
- Jessica B0 contributionsGood TourAlthough not terribly scary, the tour was very well researched and I learned a great deal of the history behind the stories and the city itself. Our guide was very entertaining. If you are looking to learn more about Greenwich, this is the walking tour to take.Written August 15, 2015
- jessro86870 contributionsAwesome! Our tour guide, Elise, was great and really knowledgeable. I loved her enthusiasm and learned a lot on the tour. I also really appreciated that we were given a paper so that we could research the stories on our own time. Well worth it!Written July 26, 2015

This October Saturday night was dark and chilly, so the scene was set nicely to begin our Greenwich Village Walking Tour from under the lamp on the NW corner gates to Washington Square Park. What an awesome trek through the streets and back lanes of the Village as our guide told the stories of the darker history and eerie events of the past, pausing at specific spots of interest and showing photographs to build perspective into the narrative. Captivating stories of murder, misadventure and inexplicable happenings rolled into a thrilling trip through history makes for a great evening of thought provoking entertainment. Bring an open mind and be prepared to leave with one or two spooky thoughts. Highly Recommended. Enjoy!

I whole heartedly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the subject. This is actually my second time taking the Greenwich Village Tour.
My first time taking this tour, I was just so impressed with all the information and knowledge our guide had that I began searching for a similar tour in a different neighborhood and ended up going with a different company. BIG MISTAKE! If you are going to do a tour of this nature, it has to be with Ghosts, Murders & Mayhem. No one else has the knowledge or the enthusiasm for this particular subject.
Recently, I had a friend visiting and she had wanted to take a halloweenish tour and I immediately thought of Ghosts, Murders & Mayhem. This time around we were very lucky to have had Elisa, the founder of the tour, showing us around. I spent 70% of the tour with goosebumps along my arms and the remaining 30% looking over my shoulder hoping to catch something, anything.
Elisa was so prepared. She even gave us a list of her sources, the timelines of each incident she spoke about - you could just tell she knew what she's talking about.
Sincerely, this tour is a MUST for those of you who are interested in the paranormal, murders in New York or just general mayhem.

My sisters and I took the walking tour of Greenwich Village on Saturday 10/26/19. What a great night! We had our guide C all to ourselves and couldn’t be happier. A gifted storyteller. C kept us enthralled with haunted tales of ghosts, murder, and mayhem. The history was interesting and well researched, and the sites were a great mix of intrigue and creepy. C conveyed each story in such a compelling way that we were often moved, the two hours were over much too quickly. We were given the rare opportunity to see our city through new eyes. My sisters and I highly recommend this tour and would do it again in New York minute!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. My guides and I cherish them all as this is not a job as much as a passion for us. We hope to see you on one of our other neighborhood tours.

Sadly the guide (Steve) lacked any storytelling ability or interest in making the ghost part of the tour seem remotely plausible, let alone scary or thrilling. The tour itself is solid. But the degree to which such a thing is entertaining is entirely about the guide, especially in 90 degree heat and high humidity. So my 3 college age children, who know much less about the Village than I do, were more bored than they should have been.

I really enjoyed this tour. You meet at Washington Square Park which is always fun to visit. The guide Ellen was great. The guide has photos of some of the sites which is passed around with the group. Some of the stories you've heard before which makes it even more interesting. Ellen gave us a paper with all the stories she discussed so you got to go home and read more about them. It really gives you an appetite to read about NYC in the old days. Also liked discovering different neighborhoods on the tour. I give it 5 stars and highly recommend it.
