Great times w Lauren in Mission District
Jul 2021 • Family
The three of us REALLY enjoyed touring the Mission District with Lauren. She is a fantastic tour guide and incredible human being. I suspect we’ll see her on TV someday…maybe Food Network. The stops we made were perfect. Savory muffins, chic Indian fusion, beef tongue tacos, empanadas, award winning cookies and more. Lauren is very knowledgeable and tells super interesting stories. A perfect tour all around!

Awesome day in San Fran!
What an awesome day!! Kacie was an outstanding tour guide. She knew the Mission District in and out. We learned a ton. Most importantly we were introduced to the culture of the neighborhood through amazing food. I would highly recommend this to anyone! I’m planning on going home to Chicago and getting this for Christmas presents to family. So fun!

Food, Architecture, Murals and History
Feb 2020
We have taken many walking history food tours and Casey lived up to our expectations. She was enthusiastic, knowledgable, eager to please the entire group and fun to be with. She involved the group in decision making of what our focus was for the tour(besides foods). The group decided we were very interested in seeing murals in the Mission District and discussing different types of Victorian Architecture as we walked. We did just that! She obviously had knowledge of all of these requested areas of discussion. She also was extremely sensitive to any food restrictions in the group and allowed me to enjoy the food without worrying about gluten or onions which I can’t easily eat. The food stops were well chosen. We stopped for a breakfast egg muffin, original Mission style corn tortilla tacos, Pupusas from El Salvador, the best pizza Margherita I have ever eaten and a fabulous gluten free chocolate brownie cookie. My only regret was that I didn’t get the recipe of how to make these newly experienced pupusas and gluten free cookies from Tartine Bakery. I am already consulting the internet to find recipes for both!

Hi there! This is such a well-thought-out review. Thank you! The Mission District is such a neat area and we're thrilled you decided to experience it the Sidewalk Food Tour way! It's extremely important to us that the dietary needs of our guests are accommodated. Let us know if you get those recipes! We hope to see you again soon!

Interesting Food Tour with Molly and Delicious Food!
Jan 2020
I really enjoyed this food tour, and I learned a lot about the Mission area of San Francisco. The tour guide, Molly, was wonderful! She told us stories about the murals, buildings, history, and area while shepherding our group to five different restaurants where we got to taste a variety of foods. I plan on returning to all five of the restaurants and also exploring the Mission district more on my own. The tour was a great introduction to a fascinating area of San Francisco!

A delightful walk through the Mission and great food too!
My wife and I did this tour with our guide Ted and a handful of Northern California locals. The tour was great. Ted has a great manor and mixes in history and architecture along with the food and social scene. I have been to San Francisco before but this time I came away with a closer connection to the city and its rich history.

Mission District Food Tour with Lauren
Oct 2019
Again, this was a tour I booked via Groupon for my cousin visiting from Vancouver. Here are her words for the tour.

"The 4 savoury stops had really good sized portions and were all very tasty. And the one dessert stop had a small cookie, although it was quite good. Wish it was a bigger portion! Since you couldn’t go, Lauren made sure an extra portion from each stop was available and packaged for me to take home. She also got another cookie for me when I accidentally dropped mine. Same thing about not getting an email afterwards. I’m not sure what happened there.

She gave recommendations for other places to eat and even sang at one stop during the North Beach tour with the owners playing instruments.

They (both North Beach and Mission District) were definitely worthwhile tours!"

Again, I actually received the emails afterwards even though the Tour took down her email address.

Fine but not worth the hype
Oct 2019 • Friends
We would have loved to taste more things. In smaller amounts. We tasted 5 things in 3 hours. Plentybofnfood. But small bites at a dozen places would have been nicer. I cant remember our tour guides name. She was nice and knowledgeable but not particularly enthusiastic or entertaining.

Yum! - with a comprehensive history of the Mission District
Sep 2019
Our group of 14 apparently famished participants met Lauren, our guide, in front of the Pirate Supply Store there on Valencia. I had been inside the shop before and had no idea of what it was about. Lauren began by sharing its history as a tutoring project turned into store/school due to its zoning.

Lauren was a reminder to use more of my vocabulary - she was a gifted speaker and concise and diverse in her word choice. Plus, her content was interesting - the history of the Mission District from pre-Columbian times thru the Spanish and Mexican eras and into the gold rush and modern times.

Now for the food: We started out at Craftsman & Wolves with one-half of a "Rebel Within" - an amazing muffin containing cheese and sausage bits with a soft cooked boiled egg in the middle. Wow! - how do they do that?

That was followed by a wonderful taco down on Mission Street, followed by a scrumptious pupusa at the Salvadoran restaurant across the street. Then a Margarita pizza slice from Delfinos and buckwheat cookie from Tartine. I was stuffed.

Plus, of course, we learned tidbits about the neighborhood around each restaurant and some of the restaurant history. A great way to spend a Sunday. Thanks, Lauren!
