Overview
A dark and ghastly tour through the mysterious past of downtown alleys and streets. Get haunted by after-dark tales of strange deaths, ruthless villains, the old red light district, famed ghosts, shocking assassins and more. Meet your creepy storytelling guide near Union Square for this eerie tour.
Highlights
  • Walk San Francisco’s haunted streets on a nighttime tour
  • Hear stories of the Tenderloin’s horrifying past under the cover of dark
  • Visit some of downtown’s spookiest sites while a guide shares their history
  • See a revered American city from a new and unnerving perspective
What to Expect
Meet your guide in Union Square to begin your spooky tour of San Francisco’s downtown and Tenderloin neighborhoods. Then, prepare to get swept up in the horror as your guide tells unnerving tales of unsolved murders, paranormal activity, notorious criminals, shady brothels and brazen assassins.
You’ll walk to the famed St. Francis Hotel, where legendary figures from Hollywood and politics stayed and sometimes died under mysterious circumstances. Learn how the gritty Tenderloin got its name and visit the site of a dramatic suicide that cast a long shadow over downtown.
As the tour circles back to Powell Street and the haunted Union Square Hotel, you’ll visit the Curran Theater murder site, see where the Zodiac Killer found his final victim, and stop at the location where Tessie Wall ran her ill-famed brothel. You'll never see San Francisco the same way.

The guide practically ran everywhere we went. Also we could barely hear her. She was very sweet and when we could hear her it was entertaining.

There were about a dozen (maybe a little more) when I took the walk on a very rainy night in February. The group did not seem too large.

They have options for 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30. I think you want it to be getting dark for the added atmosphere. Hope you get Mary as your guide, she’s awesome.

Not many hills at all and we took a lot of breaks where we could sit down and rest.
