    What to Expect
Located at San Francisco’s ever-popular Pier 39 along the Embarcadero, the Aquarium of the Bay offers an educational look at local sea life.

A general admission ticket gives you quick access to all of the aquarium’s main exhibit areas, all of which focus of the marine life of San Francisco Bay and nearby waters. Together, the exhibits are home to more than 20,000 sea creatures. Stay all day if you wish. The aquarium is yours to explore at your own pace.

    Discover the Bay Exhibit:

Ever wonder why anchovies swim in schools, or what life is like for a newly hatched skate in San Francisco Bay? You’ll learn answers to questions like these in the Discover the Bay exhibit area, which is also where you’ll find some of the bay’s brightest sea creatures, including green moray eels and California’s state marine fish, the orange garibaldi.

    Under the Bay Exhibit:

Thousands of marine animals, including octopuses, swim above and around you as you meander along a 300-foot (90-meter) tunnel system of clear glass. You’ll see moon jellies and Pacific sea nettles, giant sea bass and colorful starfish, and deepwater fish such as leopard and soupfin sharks.

The aquarium was surprisingly big! The water exhibits were really good for young kids. The exhibits featuring land animals seemed a little small for the animals in there. It was entertaining for the kids though and in a great location.

Aquarium is amazing, lots of species to see however it is really small and we went through it in about 30 minutes. We decided to do another rotation at a slower pace to make sure we didn't miss anything, and we were done in 40...More

For nearly $30 you'd expect more than a few glass cases, a tiny building and exhibits that, if you take them slowly you will finish in 45 minutes. The downstairs immersive tunnels are worth visiting, once, but there is no need to return again.

Based on the cost of admission, the "attraction" leaves much to be desired. Nothing noteworthy. Nothing you'd want a picture of.

First time on Pier 39 and we decided to try the Aquarium to see sharks. 60 dollar to Get in to see something that takes 20 min to walk true is bad.

The aquarium is situated on the wharf. The front doors are on the second level an there is an elevator on the first floor. Just walk in. If you do not have your own vehicle - grab an uber, cab or lyft!
