Overview
Discover the LGBT history of the Castro district in San Francisco on a guided walking tour led by a longtime resident of the neighborhood. Leave the navigation to your guide, as you explore at least 15 sites of interest and hear detailed commentary about local history and landmarks. You’ll also learn how the Castro continues to play a vital role in LGBT activism and events.
What to Expect
Make your own way to the Castro Pride Flagpole in the heart of the Castro to meet your guide.

Travel to several places relevant to the life and legacy of Harvey Milk, the legendary gay rights activist who was also San Francisco’s first openly gay elected politician. See where he lived and worked, and hear about his contributions to the city and LGBT civil rights.

Take in landmarks including the  Pink Triangle Memorial Park, the Rainbow Honor Walk Project, the AIDS Quilt Names Project, and the Human Rights Campaign.

The tour proceeds at a leisurely pace, and the public walkways are wheelchair accessible.

Excellent tour!

We really enjoyed this tour. Kathy, the tour guide, was knowledgeable and friendly. She shared information about San Francisco in general, and the Castro specifically. She also recommended several restaurants in the area to come back and visit. Highly recommend this tour!

Must do civil rights tour in SF!

Very happy I booked this tour! Kathy was passionate, knowledgeable, and very friendly. I learned so much about the history of the Castro community. I'm an educator back home and I'm looking forward to sharing my stories when I get back to my students!
