Old Louisville - a walk back in time
We really enjoyed this tour; we never would have known about Old Louisville without this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about the historic district of Old Louisville. We will be anxious to watch the restoration continue and return this district to its original glory.

Beautiful, interesting, and fun! Guide was Great!
Very beautiful area! Every house is unique and with an explosion of architecture styles. My tour guide Val was so great! Friendly, knowledgeable, and her love of the area was contagious. Highly recommend, especially if you can get Val as your guide.

What a wonderful walking tour of Victorian homes!
Brenda was an outstanding tour guide who was so kind, full of fascinating information, funny, and cheerful. We tour several fine tours on our Kentucky trip to Louisville, Frankfort, and Lexington -- but Brenda's was the best.

      Walking Tour of Old Louisville
Gabe was excellent. He checked people in and waited until the start time before commencing the tour. He was very knowledgeable and spoke with a clear voice and was very easy to hear. He moved to each spot, waited for the group to get there, and spoke about each house or area. He answered every question and was overall excellent. I would enjoy any tour that he gives.

      Historic gem in Old Louisville
Unbelievable set of historic homes described by Angelique who not only was full of great information but had a passion for preserving the neighborhood (and was active in helping to do so).

      turn that frown upside down!
It was a frigid day and I was needing something fun to do as I was experiencing three days of travel woes and not able to get home. I scheduled this tour and I was the only one that showed up (I'm guessing because of the frigid temperatures). Angelique was there waiting and I spent the next 90 minutes having wonderful conversation and learning a whole lot about Louiville history and architecture. Angelique is a pure gem with a beautiful spirit and the experience turned my unfortunate travel woes into a wonderful day... I'm still smiling :)

      Fascinating Louisville Walking Tour
My husband and I found this a very interesting and informative tour. We are so glad we had a chance to learn more about the history of this neighborhood and to see such beautiful homes. Our guide knew all kinds of amusing tidbits which we have had fun sharing with friends. I would highly recommend this tour when visiting Louisville.

      Chilling, Thrilling and Fulfilling
A chilly, drizzly evening in November, a perfect backdrop for a murder tour. David; our tour guide and author of the book was energetic, fun and full of stories of old Louisville. He regaled us with gossip, ghost stories, witches, his own personal stories and historical events of the mansions in the neighborhood. Our tour ended with a very special visit into one of the restored mansions. We were greeted by a handsome gentleman and welcomed into his fabulous home. Exquisitely appointed, warm and welcoming, I could almost hear the laughter and jocularity of Derby parties and grand dinner events. The owner was inviting and charming, I was envious of the life he has built for his family. A great evening that started with a bourbon, a really cute glitterball necklace and ended with a signed copy of David’s book. Once I finish the book, I will do the tour again.

Well worth the time and money. Learned a lot about Old Louisville history in a short time.
Gabe, our guide, was extremely informative as to the history of the area as well as the architecture. He showed us famous buildings as well as little-know spots on our tour. The pace was good and the tour was well-timed.

With everything goin on in Louisville at the moment the fact of where we ended up to meet for this tour should have never been even an issue but it was and I didn’t even feel safe to do it. No refund offered which is
Kinda crap because you can’t guarantee the safety of anyone there. Shame.

We're very sorry you canceled at the last minute because you didn't feel comfortable in Old Louisville. It's rare that we hear this, but when we do it is always because of the diverse racial makeup of the neighborhood. There were three tours of 30 people that night at 6PM, 7:30PM, and 9:15PM and nobody expressed any concerns about their safety; in fact, they had a ball and many of them wrote glowing 5-star reviews, as you can see. We do begin at the transitional edge of the neighborhood, as is clearly stated in the tour description--as well as in the email confirmation and reminders you received--but most of the evening was spent on charming gas-lit walking courts admiring beautiful and spooky Victorian houses. We did, in fact, automatically request the ticketing site process a refund for you, so please double check. P.S. We like it when people like you don't come on the tours.

My wife and I love ghost stories and visiting haunted sites. This ghost tour exceeded our expectations! This was our first time in Louisville and we had no idea what to expect for the ghost tour because we knew nothing of the city prior to visiting. David our guide, gave us some unforgettable stories about the paranormal side of old Louisville. He was one of the best story tellers I’ve ever listened to. We really appreciate and love the city along with its haunted buildings. I would recommend this to anyone who wants the real experience of Louisville.

The ratings and reviews for this tour are well deserved. We have taken guided walking tours all over the US and world- David’s storytelling ability and subject knowledge are among the best we have experienced. The walk alone is worth the tour price, but when David’s narrative and fun guidance are added in it becomes an absolute must for any visitor to Louisville or for that matter any locals wanting to get in touch with their city’s history. Thanks David - we will be back!

The guide was nice but the trip itself left much to be desired. The tour was just a simple walk around the neighborhood as advertised but that's all the trip entailed. We stopped outside people's homes and looked at their homes and were shown "haunted" locations but the entirety of the tour was outside. We did stop and she did give us some interesting history involving true and the supernatural with a few photos every now and then. Sadly I can't recommend this presentation for the price tag it's asking for. Save yourself the money and just go during they with Google maps open and visit these locations for free since on the tour we looked into actual people's homes at night. The guide even shined a flashlight into someone's home!

Sorry you didn't enjoy your time with us, unlike so many other people, but it's clearly advertised as an "outdoor only" tour. It is also made abundantly clear that you do cannot enter the residences visited (as they are real houses with people living in them) and the tour guide indicated this was your big hang up with the tour.

Great tour! Dave really knows the town and has written several books. He had a personal connection to many of the stories and homes which brings a deeper interest! The neighborhood of Old Louisville is really charming and the homes are beautiful! The way he tells the stories are captivating! I can’t wait to read some of his books now! If you visit Louisville, definitely consider taking this tour.We felt safe, even though the recent riots had impacted downtown Louisville, ( 2 miles away) ,this area of Old downtown had not been affected at all. It was safe as masks were worn and social distancing was maintained.

This was a fantastic tour with some really interesting stories. Our guide was nice, she was very knowledgeable and answered everyone's questions without hesitation. We went about 7:30pm so it had just gotten dark and we were with a pretty big group. They split us in two groups to make it more personal. Everything about the tour was perfect. Loved every minute!

The tour was well organized and ran smoothly. David, the guide, was welcoming and punctual. He has a wealth of knowledge and many entertaining stories.. The homes in the neighborhood are impressive. We were a group of four and all enjoyed the experience. There was one issue, but that was out of David's control...noise. A few times during the tour an airplane flew over and we couldn't hear him and toward the end of the tour we walked through a park and stopped at the corner. There was live music happening in the park which also drowned out David at times. Again, not his fault Our tour did run over by about 15-20 minutes which made us late for our dinner reservation and the restaurant almost didn't seat us! Lesson here...eat before the tour. Definitely recommend this tour...just eat first and stay close to the guide!

This was a wonderful evening. From beginning to end, our guide (I am so sorry to not recall her name) was funny, entertaining, and insightful. She made sure to engage with everyone, understood how to make sure everyone could hear, and watched to confirm everyone - no matter the walking speed - stayed with the group. Her comedic, and dramatic, timing was ON POINT. Her script, clearly memorized, was delivered in a way that felt personal and responsive to our specific group. That takes real skill. Well worth every dime! I may even go again, just to catch new insights.
NOTE: As a single woman, I arrived at the meeting place early and intended to wait. The meeting location is near housing (because, well, it is a tour of houses) and there was an argument happening at a complex near the bus stop. I’m pretty bold and am not afraid to set and read while I wait, but this pushed my boundaries. I walked less than a block and had a drink at Buck’s Restaurant, then returned just before the tour. Be advised that this tour does border some less tourist friendly areas. If you are on your own, consider building in dinner or a drink in a nearby location - or an arrival time closer to the tour.

My wife was bored at a few different times thoughout the tour. The houses were beautiful, but we stayed too long at each stop. I believe it is way overpriced at $28.50 per adult; I'd say it should be half of that.

The topic, sights and stories would likely have been very interesting if presented by another guide. Jamie needs coaching on her presentation skills. The stories were drawn out, redundant and timelines were occasionally askew. She took >20 min at one house. The phrase “as you can imagine” and the word “ironically” were used so frequently it became an annoying distraction. Positioning at 2 locations was poorly planned. We spent 15 min with our backs to 1 building as she faced it and talked about events in the building. At the other, the house was across the street and behind a tall tree. We could only view a small front corner. At 100 minutes (the scheduled tour length) we still had 2 stops to go as well as return to our start point. I have no idea how much longer it went, because we left.
