My husband and I really loved this tour! We were visiting Louisville for the weekend and wanted to get a better idea of what the city was like. David was an incredible guide who had so much knowledge of the architecture and history of the 45 blocks of Old Louisville. Because this area isn’t in the main tourist spots, you would never know it’s here - and that’s such a shame because it’s gorgeous and SO charming! You learn so much about the roots of the city, and even get to hear some fun witch and ghost stories. We had a great time and it was our favorite activity we did while there!

I had a total geek out when I discovered that a favorite author of mine was actually the tour guide. I think I pulled myself together pretty well and didn't embarrass my teens too much. David Dominae took us on an absolutely enchanting walk through a world of gorgeous mansions, shady garden squares, antique gas lights, and charming brick walkways. Our guide did a fantastic job of mixing architecture, botany, history, and storytelling into a 90-minute trip back in time. Truly offered a delightful glimpse into the golden age of Old Louisville. Even shared a few ghost stories and legends to keep my teenagers' interest perked. I brought my parents on the tour as well, and all age groups agreed that this was a favorite part of our trip. I'm still daydreaming about St. James Court. Hauntingly beautiful.

Debra’s tour of Old Louisville was excellent. She showed us around the historical parts of Louisville and brought us to some of the amazing houses and tucked away gardens along the way. She knows this area inside and out and tells a great, socially conscious narrative.

While this is a large collection of homes from the late 1800 / early 1900 era, at least a quarter of them were in very poor condition. Our guide did a great job of relating the history of many homes, so in that sense it was enjoyable. But from an architectural perspective I wasn't overwhelmed.

The New York Times recommended this in 2016, in their "36 Hours in Louisville" travel piece. In fact, it was the very first thing they recommended. We're glad you found the history of the homes interesting. If you were underwhelmed by the architecture, you're in an itsy-bitsy-teenie-weenie hard-to-please minority. There aren't many places in the U.S. where you find such a wide stylistic breadth of late 1800s and 1900s residences on display in such a compact area. Unlike our competitor/imitator daytime tour company, we do not focus on just the picturesque residential enclave of St. James Court and the environs. We start from the transitional edge of the neighborhood and take more time, working our way through several different parts of the historic district to give a broad overview of what the area is, has been, and will be. This is clearly stated in our tour description.

I had such a wonderful time on this walking tour through Old Louisville. We started our tour at the visitor center at Central Park and our tour guide was exceptional. I can't remember her name but she had a great knowledge of the history as well as a funny personality to go with it. My friend and I really enjoyed learning about the history of the architecture and residents of the beautiful homes. 10/10 recommend doing a walking tour of Historic Louisville if you're in town.

This was magical, and I'm a local and even learned new things. The research and historical details are weaved in with wonderful stories about the families that lived here, and it's basically like walking through a multi-faceted novel. I mean the creator IS a novelist, so maybe that's why.

We did the 1pm architecture tour. Our guide was passionate and engaging. I don’t know much about architecture, and I’m not sure she knew much more than I, but she knew the history of the neighborhoods and buildings we saw and told very interesting stories. The homes are beautiful, and it was a beautiful day for a walk.

The tour guide has taught at the unversity and authored numerous books about Louisville's past. While strolling through these neighborhoods I learned a lot about the history, commerce, politics, and cultural development of the area. I had stereotypical ideas about Kentucky in general and was surprised at how interesting and diverse a place Louisville is.

Loved seeing Old Louisville through the eyes of such an enthusiastic resident of the neighborhood. David is a wealth of knowledge and I'm looking forward to his upcoming book about a scandal that took place here. Favorite surprise: the secret Victorian gardens that groups of houses face. So charming.

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip! David was an excellent guide to a part of the city where we otherwise wouldn't have had a reason to venture. The houses and gardens are gorgeous. David also takes you through neighborhoods that, while public, are off the beaten path with some cool surprises. The tour is eye candy for architecture buffs.
