The tour was very informative. We went through the kitchen- no one was cooking in there that day. We went into the production area and saw where the candy dough is made. There was some in the extruder and it was interesting watching the naked bourbon balls make their way down the line. We watched the whole process of making Rebecca Ruth’s famous Bourbon Ball, from beginning to putting on the pecan to packaging. After the tour, we watched a video of the history of the company, which was very interesting. We finished the tour at their museum, then went into the store to get our candy sample and make purchases. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the visit. I will add that cell phones and picture taking inside the factory and store is strictly prohibited, but on their website there are pictures that show a lot of the things we saw on the tour.

This was very informative and a lot of fun. We really enjoyed seeing the old equipment that is still being used today. That amazed me. The candy is made by hand, and it was great to see this in action. Our tour guide was full of information and had great personality. The most interesting part was that they have a different recipe for the different distilleries they make bourbon balls for.
The tour is a little over 30 minutes, which was the perfect amount of time. We enjoyed building our own boxes of chocolates, in the shop afterwards. They had a lot to choose from.

I planned our tour at Rebecca Ruth as something “for me” while my husband and I traveled to Frankfort to visit a couple distilleries. Although the house itself doesn’t leave you in awe at first glance like some of the bigger distilleries, the rich (no pun intended) history of Rebecca Ruth is nothing short of amazing. The staff and our tour guide were so welcoming that we left feeling like old friends looking forward to our next visit. 10/10 recommend!!

While interesting, the tour was very short. We’re very happy the chocolate shop is doing well, but it was so busy. We felt like the $ we paid to have special attention, especially for samples was wasted once you got back to the main shop. It would have been better if samples were provided before the tour ended so we didn’t have to compete with paying customers. Otherwise it was something to do and the chocolates were good.

Thanks for visiting! The samples are supposed to be provided at the end of the tour prior to going into the museum room. Perhaps the sample reserve ran out due to the large number of customers. We will look into it. If you would like a refund of the tour, please email me at tours@rebeccaruth.com Please include your contact info, number on the tour, amount paid and refund code 220919-ViaTripAdv68027994151. Sorry your experience was not as expected.

Visited on a weekend. The tour starts with a short, interesting video telling the history of the company, before actually walking thru the production facility. With no production happening, you're just looking at old candy making equipment.
Our tour guide was one of the retail employees, and although she was very friendly, she couldn't answer any questions that were asked during the tour. I just think the experience would be much better during the week when candy is actually being made.
If Saturday is the only day you can go, stop in and buy some candy, but save your time and money and skip the tour.

Dear NattyPa, Thank you for your visit. We are sorry that you were not able to see candy being made on Saturday. The best times to see production operating are Monday - Thursday as stated in "What's Included" portion of the listing. Our extremely friendly and welcoming tour guide did a great job walking us through the process for making their candies. There was also a very informative museum room right before you entered for the tour. We learned a lot in a very short amount of time, and, best of all, got to taste the chocolates!

Great family fun at the candy factory. Kids enjoyed tasting the candy & watching that candy go down the line. Also the candy they ended up with. We enjoyed the history & the relationship they had with all the different distilleries. Convenient location right in Hankfort , easy parking, & all around great visit

My family and I really enjoyed the tour and shopping at Rebecca Ruth’s. It is a sweet family run kitchen/factory and the staff took the time to walk us through and made us feel so welcome. It is a small operation so it’s just an intimate way to see how everything is made by hand and then there’s a short video with the history of the company after. What a story of hard work and surviving 2 fires for this female-founded business many generations ago!
The candy shop is amazing and my kids were all in naturally. Would recommend as a nice stop on your trip.

Friendly staff. Go Monday-Thursday so you can see candy still being made mostly by hand. My teen boy was fascinated by the process. The bourbon ball free sample convinced me to buy. Delicious candy.

This was a short, but very informative tour with a sweet finish of sample chocolates! Delicious candy, great history served by a wonderful staff. This was a family trip to SEE Kentucky. We always look for a variety of things to do and see when traveling and this was one of those great finds. I have added their website to my list for online candy buys. Their bourbon balls are the best!
