After pickup from your Miami hotel, head west of the city in an open-air Jeep. Drive through wetlands, swamps, and marshlands, and learn about the unique geology that makes this a Wetland of International Importance, an International Biosphere Reserve, and a UNESCO-listed site.
At Big Cypress National Preserve, take a short walk with your guide and observe alligators, birds, and fish. Take Loop Road while listening to stories about the American Indians who first inhabited the area, “Gladesmen,” and current residents. Stretch your legs again at Sweetwater Strand, a popular stop known for its twisted cypress trees.
Next, trade the Jeep for an airboat for the final leg of the tour through sawgrass marshes. Then, stop at a wildlife exhibit to learn more about alligators. Hear more about efforts to protect the Everglades on the way back to Miami, where the tour ends with a hotel drop-off.
