Beautiful Sunset from a Unique Perspective
We’re very familiar with kayaking and the ocean, but what a treat having a relaxing paddle with a nature guide who adapted her insights knowing we already knew the basics. Paddling out to the optimal site to view the sunset after getting a closeup inspection of the boats and the Wharf was the highlight.

      Wonderful tour
Arthur took us on a nice kayak trip in the harbor. It was only two of us so it was very personalized. He was knowledgeable of the sea life and gave us great info. I highly recommend him.

Great experience kayaking in Santa Barbara!
This was our third time on a kayaking tour with this company and it won't be the last. We enjoyed the Sunset Kayak Tour in Santa Barbara Harbor and it was so lovely. Our guide, Kyle, was so much fun and shared loads of good information about the area.

      So much fun!
Chany was the best guide! She was SO patient with our disorganized group and made our time on the water such a treat. Really easy process of just showing up, and the water was ultra calm and easy to navigate for our inexperienced group.

A wonderful kayaking experience with SB Adventure Co.
My 12 year old son and I had another wonderful kayak trip with SB Adventure Co! Our guide, Luke, was an excellent teacher and was so knowledgeable, fun and kind. It was a beautiful day on the Gaviota coast, and Luke coached us to successfully paddle in (and later out) through the surf to enjoy kayaking on the water. It is wonderful to have them supply the kayaks, paddles, pdf's, wetsuit, paddle jackets and dry bag, and to have a knowledgeable guide with us. Each time we go creates a memorable, special experience.

      kayak adventure
We booked a coastline kayak tour with Santa Barbara Adventure Company. Our guide was friendly and answered our questions. Unfortunately there was no provided lunch or "beach games" or swimming as the ad promised. In addition, the ad stated 3-4 hour excursion (ours was less than 3 hours). It was lovely to be on the water but we felt SBA didn't deliver as promised.

Sea Cave Kayaking on Santa Cruz Island
Had a great day out with our guide Alex D. Santa Cruz Island is serene and peaceful, well worth a visit in its own right. But the sea caves are better still, magical and truly another world. I don't know anywhere else average folks could get such an experience. And, it's available to just about anybody. Our group included people from age 60+ to mid-twenties. Apparently even infants can participate, though none were on our tour. Alex efficiently and effectively taught the beginners how to paddle and how to stay safe on the water and in the caves. He seemed to know everything about the geology, biology and history of the area. His enthusiasm was contagious. On the water, he made sure the timid had fun without being scared, while the bold twenty-somethings got to test themselves in some exciting caves. I didn't know what to expect when I signed up for this tour, but now I kind of want to go back and do the full day trip... A practical tip- use sunscreen on the back of your hands AND on the front of your ankles. Don't ask me how I know.

      Stand up paddle board lesson
We had a stand up paddle board lesson with Santa Barbara Adventure Company around West Beach. Our instructor Caco was great with my two kids (aged 9 & 11), helping them get the hang of paddling & standing up on the boards. He was very patient! I didn’t manage to stand up on the board but it didn’t matter, I knelt & sat while paddling which worked just as well. We saw several harbour seals which was incredible, they were keen on us, swimming right by our boards. All in all a great experience 😊

Skip the guided snorkel tour, it was not worth the money
We took the guided snorkel adventure in Santa Cruz island. It was about $300 for 2 people. We are experienced snorkelers and we were not impressed .It really feels like this tour is just a cash grab from the company. I will say the guide was super passionate so that was good. The equipment was sub par. Fins that were bent and did not stay on our feet, cheap masks that fogged up( they expected you to use your own spit to defog the mask) and very cheap snorkels. I sifted through 3 before I found one that wasn't broken. The full wetsuits are made for tall men, so I was stuck wearing a short wetsuit. The water was cold( 66-68F) and the guide led us over a huge kelp forest. I hated the feeling on my legs. The entire process of getting equipment was much longer than it needed to be, it was super inefficient. Getting back on the beach was very difficult. It would have been nice if there was someone to help you get back on. I'm sure the kayaking is amazing, the snorkeling was not worth it.

      Paddle out and enjoy
Private kayaking tour was fantastic. We really enjoyed the guide and he was gracious enough to tow me when my arms got fatigued. Lots of fun, highly recommended it.

      Awesome trip!
Great trip, loved shoving off through the waves and we got to land on a mostly untouched stretch of beach. Also super informative re: biology, geology, and history. Had a great time and plan on doing another trip next time we're in Santa Barbara.

Really wanted to try kayaking for the first time with my boyfriend and it was an amazing experience! Sophie and Chantal were our guides and they were both incredible and extremely knowledgeable. They made the experience even more fun for us, great conversationalist and great with ensuring we were safe and having a good time. Would highly recommend this tour and requesting them to be your guides (:

My brother and I did the Discovery Sea Cave Kayak Tour. This was definitely a trip highlight for us! This company was very thorough and safety conscious. Everyone was provided with sanitized mandatory safety equipment (helmets and PFDs) and optional attire (wet suits, paddling jackets, water shoes). Everyone was given instruction and made to feel comfortable. Our guide was Dustin and he was excellent. He was attentive and knowledgeable, his enthusiasm for his job contagious.
And finally, kayaking through the sea caves, seeing the marine life, learning about the flora and fauna, and just being out on the water were wonderful. We would definitely come back.

Kyle was so thorough, I felt prepared and comfortable getting on the water. Once out paddling, he shared so much history and amazing information about Santa Barbara. I'm new to town. I just loved listening to everything he had to say about the boats, the creation of the harbor, the sea lions and harbor seals. It was a great way to spend an afternoon!

We recently celebrated a family birthday on Santa Cruz Island. The highlight of our visit was the Kayak tour led by our wonderful guide Aaron Kreisberg. He shared his extensive knowledge of the island wildlife with our group. "A truly amazing experience" Thank you Aaron,

We are from Santa Barbara, and my almost 12 year-old son said it was the most fun he'd ever had at the waterfront. We had so much fun kayaking in the harbor with our fun and knowledgeable guide, Luke. My son loves kayaking even more now. We are mostly beginners, and felt very safe, relaxed and informed with Luke. (My son likes rocking the boat, too, which makes me nervous, but I felt calm with Luke there, and he redirected my son's focus really well - so no one ended up in the water. We would have been totally fine if we had, but I appreciated how Luke informed us how to stay balanced in the kayak and get back into the kayak if that happened.) It was fun to learn to kayak better, and so fun to see and learn about the wildlife up close (at a safe, respectful distance.) Luke tailored our experience to what we were interested in and balanced the fun adventure aspects with the interesting information. The company provided the kayak, paddles, wetsuits, paddle jackets, and flotation devices, and then took care of cleaning them after as well. That was a bonus for me as a mom. It was a really special experience for us, and we are looking forward to doing this again.

What a fantastic way to start the day. Our guide Nora was very thorough in explaining the basics and safety of operating the kayak. She lead us on history filled journey through Santa Barbara harbor and was very knowledgeable about the different birds, boats and animals in the area. A must do experience when visiting Santa Barbara!!

My husband and I were scheduled to take the 3 1/2 Adventure Kayak tour of the Sea Caves—it was to be a highlight of our trip from the East coast. We researched, planned and we’re ready for the tour, expecting 3+ hours of kayaking and approx 1 hour to explore the island. Unfortunately, we were unable to disembark the ferry bc the ramp at the island dock was not working. The kayak trip was canceled. Our ferry was rerouted to the opposite end of Santa Cruz island, and we were forced to leave the ferry, and would not be picked up until 4:30. (Approx 6 hours later) We asked to stay on the ferry and return home as we were NOT prepared to hike for the day. We were denied. 6 hour hiking over “moderate to strenuous” terrain is not the same as a 3-hour kayak. The ferry did not actually get us backing Ventura until 7pm.
We were and remain very frustrated—we lost a full day out of our 6-day vacation!!! We realize that the malfunctioning hydraulic ramp was beyond their control. However we should have been given the choice to hike the other end of the island or return home. The fact that we were not given a choice was completely unacceptable.

Awesome trip with 2 very friendly and helpful guides. They paid attention to our needs and were knowledgeable about the marine environment. We felt confident and confortable with both of them during our trip. Since we don’t have a lot of kayak experience, we booked the Harbor tour, which is a great way to get started and acquainted with this sport in the Pacific Ocean. Next time, we will try a trip in the Channel Islands NP with Santa Barbara Adventure. They also accept people with mobility issues. Highly recommended.

While visiting our sons, both of whom live in California, we were looking for a fun, not so strenuous, outdoors activity that would appeal to all ... and this fit the bill perfectly!

Both our guides were very friendly, and after a quick safety talk and orientation, we were in the water. Btw, any valuables that we didn't want to get wet or take, were locked up on shore, letting us focus on the experience.

After clearing the marina area, we were able to go out a bit, getting great info about the wildlife on the way. And on the way in, we snaked our way through the beautiful boats docked in the Santa Barbara marina. We even made our way under a catamaran! All in all, a great way to spend an afternoon. (BTW, we went with our sons, both in their mid & late 20's, for your reference)
