Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
Soar over Palm Springs on the Aerial Tramway for spectacular views of the desert. Ascending to 5,783 feet (1,790 meters), the tram transports you to the cool air in the San Jacinto Mountains. View unspoiled wilderness, including mountain spires and Ponderosa pine trees, during your ascent. Disembark and explore the area around Mountain Station, which includes a cocktail lounge, restaurant and observation deck. Hike, snowshoe or cross-country ski on the trails in the Mt. San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area around Mountain Station.
What to Expect
Make your way to the start of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to being your day of adventure. The tram operates throughout the day, so the timing and duration of your experience is up to you.

As you climb aboard the world's largest rotating tramcars, be prepared to rise from the floor of the Sonoran Desert, where temperatures frequently reach as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit (48C) to the cool alpine air at 8,516 feet (2,838 meters). Pass through enormous Ponderosa pines in this arctic-alpine forest, enjoying views of the San Jacinto Mountains and Chino Canyon.

When you reach Mountain Station, disembark to explore the facilities, which include observation decks, a cocktail lounge and dining facilities. Pause to watch a short film on the construction of the Tramway, then head out into the 14,000-acre (5,665-hectare) Mt San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area. Make use of the 54 miles (87 km) of hiking trails on foot in the summer or by snowshoe or cross-country skis in the winter.

Very easy check-in process. Can imagine it would be crowded in season. Spent an easy, yet remarkable, 3 hours on the easy trails. Will definitely be back to check out the longer, less traveled trails.

This was a great way to hike up in the mountain without having to get up there. You can stay all day or just a little bit. Bring extra water and a backpack. Even though it is cool, the hiking in thin air takes up...More

Fun, Great ride, Beautiful views!

Worth the drive, parking and walk up and down the hill. Go for dinner and drinks and viewing of Palm Springs and beyond! Hiking and climbing too! Well worth the effort to get out of the heat of the valley and enjoy the higher elevation.
