As you begin your walking tour of the market’s food stalls and grocers, hear about the history of the landmark business, which has been family-owned and operated since 1934. Approximately 100 vendors serve up dishes rooted in culinary traditions from around the world, and the market is popular with locals and Hollywood celebrities alike. Bring an appetite to sample foods that may include Brazilian-style churrascaria (barbecue), authentic Middle-Eastern mezzes (small dish appetizers), high-quality ice cream in unusual flavors, or handmade donuts named by USA Today as some of the best in the nation. Expect enough food samples to make up a hearty meal of some of the top cuisines in Los Angeles. With advance notice, samples can be adjusted to accommodate most dietary requirements.
