With its towering red buttes and monoliths, the Sonoran Desert includes roughly 100,000 square miles (260,000 square kilometers). On this tour, ride an off-road vehicle to explore more of the backcountry than is accessible by a regular car or hiking. Let a guide choose your itinerary and help you navigate the rugged terrain stress-free. Upgrade for a slightly longer tour that also takes you to Diamondback Gulch.
What to Expect
After meeting your guide at the designated location in Sedona, hop into your Jeep and begin your off-road tour. Let your guide take care of the difficult driving and get close views of local flora, such as prickly pear cacti and pinyon pine. Stop for photos if you see something you’re interested in.

Travel through canyons and past red rock butte formations, stopping at scenic points. Visit the 700-year-old Honanki Heritage Site, cliff dwellings where the the Sinagua people, Pueblo ancestors of the Hopi, once resided.

With the extended tour to Diamondback Gulch, descend into more arroyos and drive past Capitol Butte, Chimney Rock, Lizard Head, and Doe Mesa. Take the snaking Sidewinder Trail into Diamondback Gulch, and enjoy impressive views when you emerge on the other side.

Finish your tour at the starting point.

The jeeps fit 8 to 10 people, so you will be fine. I do not remember the cost per person but I do not remember it being that high.
