About the operator
- V9321TMjohnl00Lovely Ride, Rude PilotBooked this trip for my mother's 75th birthday, the ride was very lovely, the view magical. However, the pilot owner/operator Shane, was not so lovely. The man does not like to be asked questions. The man who is our host, and pilot, and will profit from our patronage, when asked once to repeat what he mentioned about the balloon, was extremely rude, and stated that he will not repeat himself. Again this happened while on the ground, pressed with another question, from the other group, he responded with, "Google it." The man who is supposed to be the expert was not keen on explaining pretty much anything. He spoke when he wanted to do so, and that was about it. Given the choices of available aeronauts, I'd recommend looking somewhere else. Shane, if you read this, consider taking some lessons on customer service.
- Dzrtgemz100An amazing adventure!Yesterday, Sunday February 19, 2023 we were blessed with an amazing sunset flight over the East Valley (Arizona)! It was touch and go for a bit while waiting to see if the winds would cooperate, and they did. Shane, our pilot, and the crew were great and very knowledgeable. Thanks guys for an adventure I will never forget! We took our 8 yr old granddaughter with us and it most definitely will be a memory she will have forever. Can't wait to book a Sunrise Flight soon!!
- gmO8167UM00very ghetto, unorganized and unprofessionalBecause this is a third party experience you are at the mercy of the balloon owner. Ive done previous rides with other vendors and would suggest that you try them. the balloon pilot initially had his underage children in the van during pick up exceeding the number of people that could ride in the van to drop off. he was basically silent during the whole trip no narration. the end of the trip he took his unwashed hands cut an apple and dumped a bag of oranges on a table. it was very unsanitary his balloon was old and ripped definitely NOT worth the money. i check with another tour company and ride with them.
- samhR4583AS00Deflating ExperienceOnce picked up and on the road it became apparent that they did not have a dedicated take off area. We spent an aggregeous amount of time riding in the van while the staff continually pulled up to private properties with locked gates, to which they did not have access. It's obvious to save on costs and enhance profits that they didn't own land or pay for the right to launch from someone else's land. If you don't have a guaranteed accessible launch site, send one of your team out to secure one before taking your guests on the journey. The staff in the vehicle were non communicative as they attempted to find a launch site, and would exit and return to the vehicle, without updating us. We inevitably parked in a no trespassing marked area next to a school and a major roadway. Felt less than legitimate. It took so long to find a take off location that our air time was maybe 30 minutes, and 10 minutes in they were seeking a landing zone as we careened towards downtown. We crashed through a tree/bush and concrete debris on landing and the support crew were so far away we continually tipped over while waiting. You had older and elderly passengers stacked on their sides as the basket kept tipping over into the dirt. The pilot was smoking his cigarette during this experience as he stood alongside the tanks and flames. Once we finally left the landing area we were about 12 minutes away from being dropped off to our personal vehicles when the other van/trailer called saying they had a flat. Our driver/staff member said we were going back to help. We asked if they could drop us off at our cars first and they refused. Legally you can't keep us in your vehicle. The right move would be to drop us off, then go back to offer your help and pick up the other vans passengers. They drove us around for another 30 plus minutes making loops on the highway with no clear destination. Once they located the vehicle with the flat, we decided to get our own transportation back to our car. We let the staff know in case they went to do a headcount and noticed we were gone, but they weren't operating with procedures. The staff member responded by telling us to settle up with the pilot before departing (we prepaid). Another couple left along with us because they were also fed up with the blatant lack of professionalism and courtesy of the staff. Usually you'll have one customer service hiccup during an experience, but the entire trip felt like the twilight zone. After reading other reviews I wish we would have done so sooner. Will not book or recommend this company. Absolutely upset about money poorly spent. I hope the owner now knows their staff are operating in such a manner under the companies name.
- charlessP8420TQ00Rude employeesWe had a planned flight last Sunday morning. We get a call at 5am saying flight was canceled due to high winds which confused me cause it was 3-4 mph winds , so I went to ask what was considered high when the guy says to me .....if you don't like it buy your own damn balloon and fly yourself damn self. needless to say I was stunned and won't be giving this business any of my money.
- mttimbie00The ultimate hot air balloon ride!Avoided traffic at the Albq balloon event . We were able to do a splash and lift, very exciting! Very friendly and helpful staff
- Maymay76000Chain-smoking pilot with anger issuesTook my husband on a sunset flight over Gilbert as a Christmas present. The pilot was very unprofessional as he was smoking prior to takeoff. Their equipment needs to be updated and the transportation van was incredibly filthy and its brake pads were grinding at each stoplight. The pilot complained that their company gets sued at least was once a month based on fraudulent injuries. He also mentioned that there is no money in this business and that is why the equipment is so old. Is this really something to be discussing with customers? They did not offer a small step ladder to assist elderly clients to get in the basket each section had between four and five people cram together. The pilot flew our basket solo over homes in Gilbert that I was embarrassed for the privacy intrusion. There was a large tree that I was certain our basket had touched. We hovered so low right above residential areas for quite a bit during this costly expedition. I do understand that changes in wind can create a difficult landing. The pilots son was doing his best by driving the van around below us looking for an appropriate landing. Unfortunately the pilot began belittling his son over the radio and criticizing him. Off of the radio he continue to complain that his son has been doing this his whole life and he should know better. His son was only 16 years old. This pilot is aggressive and very arrogant and this leads me to question his years of pilot experience. Out of his control, we landed on reservation property. The reservation police arrived. This was quite stressful for all of us customer standing in the dark. It was disappointing that the pilot did not prepare and explain how the last two passengers who were in their 70s were supposed to get out of the basket. The basket needed to tip over but with the elderly people in it? Are you kidding me! My husband ran over to help them crawl out of the basket in the weeds on the reservation. The tipping point was the pilots aggressive arrogance which determined that he got zero of a tip. We gave his 16-year-old son a generous tip for being the most professional and calm employee of this entire process. I would give this company -10 stars if possible. This was an awful experience.
- Departure60049700Wish it had been better and safer. The equipment used by this company is old. The van had cracked windshield and the balloon pilot complained that other companies had newer equipment. The ride Lasted 45 minutes and we landed in a remote location. The Van arrived to pick us up and after loading the balloon and basket on a trailer behind the van, we champagne toast and snacks(a bag of oranges and apples dumped on the table). We then departed in the van for a ride across the desert. Our van got stuck and we were asked to disembark so the driver and 2 assistants could try to dislodge the van. That didn’t work and the van wheels just became imbedded in the sand. We were in sight of a major road but the driver never offered to send for a van to take us back, to unhook the trailer or to call ubers for us. We just stood in the cold, dark waiting until a truck came with a wench and was able to free us. Never a I’m sorry or any apology for the inconvenience or the scary situation we were put in standing in a dark desert with snakes and wildlife. I called the following day and no apology and no offer of compensation just a what did you expect and when I answered that question Heather said well you were perfectly safe. I would not recommend this company. After discussing this with our concierge(we booked this ourselves not with her help, she said There are others that are more professionally run. Please do not make the mistake we made.
- JSteffenCO00Hot air balloon 1st timers!Friendly staff, balloon ride was fantastic. Champagne toast at the end was a nice way to end the experience.
- samanthasM5470WH00Awful. Disappointed.Unfortunately we misunderstood the listings on the website and thought we paid for a private ride, but once realizing that all we did was put down a deposit for a group ride, the owner and staff did nothing to acknowledge that it could have been easier to understand, kept making excuses instead of apologizing, and ruined the whole experience by being rude and unprofessional and screaming profanities at my family in front of all the other riders. You should be ashamed of your behavior.
- jaycionv00HorribleI’m very upset with this because first they canceled the day before due to weather saying rain… but absolutely no rain so I said can I get a refund or go the next day so they said yes… I was sitting outside Starbucks coffee on Happy Valley Road (where they said to meet in the Itinerary) from 4:35 until 5:47 and no one EVER showed up… I am beyond pissed and no one contacted me… I was blowing up emails and phones and no one answered… I was so looking forward to this Hot Air ballon ride on my last day of vacation… I would not recommend because communication is HORRIBLE
- ADWL9100Awesome companyThis company is awesome. My daughter wanted to marry in a hot air balloon and they worked with us to make her day special. Shane was wonderful and worked with our photographer (Nick Patton Photography) to make sure they had plenty of memories. Again thanks to Shane and his company for making her day memorable.
- keeponmoving2200Not a good experience...Safety ConcernsYou can only hope this was a bad day for the company, but all signs point to a company in need of customer service training, safety training for staff and updated equipment. Our experience has too many red flags to share. Please do your research before choosing a ballooning company. We learned that the best price does not equal quality and safety. Proceed with extreme caution if you choose this company.
- minimitzi00DisappointmentHonestly we were super excited about this experience and it was all disappointment. I reached out to the team via messages from trip advisor to make sure were all set as I saw other reviews that did have their reservation wasn’t correct. As I didn’t hear from them. I then called them multiple times to verify, I constantly got their voicemail. finally I got a call back from heather who completely got me confused with another person trying to book a reservation, she continuously kept saying we’re booked solid when I had a confirmation. Finally, we were able to come to the same conclusion that I’m my ticket was valid and I was all set. Now today of our hott air balloon adventure, I get a call saying our trip was cancelled due to weather issues “apparently too windy”. I missed the phone call and received this in voicemail. In the voicemail they also notified me to call them back to reschedule. I called back maybe 15 times since my missed phone called and received a message that the voicemail was full. As you can imagine that’s extremely frustrating as hott air balloons aren’t cheap and I am unable to get a hold of anyone or leave a voicemail. After a few hours had passed and over 15 phone calls, faith from the hott air balloon called back and insisted nothing was wrong with voicemail being full and their was nothing for them to do. Just to call trip advisor and get a refund. Overall, terrible customer service for an adventure we were so excited to embark with them. If I have any suggestions, please use a different company.
- steffo201300Like hell - COMME L’ENFERIf you want to put your life and wellbeing of your family on the line and pay for it, this is the place to go. The combination of disregarding the simplest safety rules, coupled with aggression and arrogance of the team turns your stomach at the sight of the material. The handling of criticism and failure to provide service makes this company truly unique in Arizona. Welcome to hell! Alternatively take another company in the area of Phoenix. There are professionals too offering safety, pleasure and service for the same price.

Wow! Where to start? This was such a bad experience from the very beginning cramped van ride smelling of cigarettes to the ending “champagne breakfast” in a dirt field. Our pilot was extremely rude and smelled like an ash tray and had a cigarette in his mouth at every opportunity. After picking us up at Starbucks and cramming 14 people into a stinky van, we arrived at our launch location. We then stood around for over an hour while the crew attempted to get their equipment to work. At one point, one of the guys left to go buy a spark plug for the fan needed to inflate the balloon. When we asked the pilot what was going on, he was defensive and started talking about him losing money. No apology for the delay or any kindness. They finally got the balloon filled and we crammed into 4 sections of the balloon, 3 people to each section, totally cramped and uncomfortable. I wasn’t even in the same section with my boyfriend! We then spent our time flying extremely low over housing developments by Power Ranch in Gilbert, at one point getting so low, we were sure we were going to land on someone’s roof. Very boring! We landed in a dirt field and the pilot gave us his story about ballooning and champagne, broke out a little table with a gross, dirty tablecloth, “cleaned” his hands with ether and then cut an apple right on the dirty table with his dirty hands (and no mask or gloves). He served some cheap bubbly garbage with juice and left us standing in the dirt while they packed up the balloon. I asked for “light” juice with my bubbly and he said I was ruining his drink and to make it myself. Then they couldn’t even get the basket back on their truck and needed guys from our party to help them. After we were back at Starbucks and were settling our bill, the pilot had the nerve to ASK for a tip for his crew as we were paying. We said no but thank you and didn’t get any response. Possibly one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had!!!

My husband book the tour for my 50 birthday as a bucket list check off. We were told to arrive at 5:00 am we arrived at 4:50 am. Tour operators did not arrive until 5:20. After sitting almost 30 minutes we were told that we were not on the list of patrons. However I had a receipt with date and time of travel. We were asked to wait as we watched other patron load the vans for their hot air balloon adventures. We were left in the parking alone without our 290.00. Never had been so discouraged and disheartened on my birthday.
Not only did we not attend the paid for event the patrons made the comment "oh trip advisor dumped another one on us". I was really made to feel terrible on what should have been a breathtaking day. Very poor communication between the third party, the company, and booking.
The tour operator did apologize for the inconvenience but I have never been so hurt and disappointed in all my days.

Super upset. I had a booking for Saturday March 18 at 5:50 am for the Sunrise Sonoran Desert Hot Air Balloon from Phoenix and followed all directions given on my voucher after booking online. I arrived at 5:20 am to ensure we would not be left behind for being late as stated in the voucher instructions because there is a no refund policy for consumer fault. I waited in my car for about 20 minutes and noticed no group gathering or anyone in connection to our hot air balloon ride by 5:40 am besides possibly a couple who looked equally confused. I made four separate phone calls to the number given on the voucher contact information and received no answer or a call back. I felt no other option but to leave at 6:20 am because it was obvious no one was going to show up and were were not to blame. I have received no email, phone call or text message for an explanation as to why there was a no show. I believe this is incredibly unprofessional and unacceptable. I emailed the email provided on the voucher asking for a full refund and expressing how upset I was. I have yet to receive a reply, an apology or a proper explanation as to why no one showed up. I disputed the charge with my bank and have luckily gotten my money back and a message from my bank claiming "returned due to bad weather." The condition is acceptable but I would've been glad to receive a message the day of cancellation instead of days later when that information is now useless. When booking I provided my phone number and email information which are ways they could've reached out to me but they never did. Overall, I recommend not to book with them as they lack professionalism and communication.

You were sent a message canceling the flight the day before through your viator intersite message board the same place you received all the above details. As a vendor we depend on TripAdvisor/ viator to produce contact information for the customers. Unfortunately you clicked the don’t share option so we had absolutely no way to communicate with you other than the message board. Not very fair you destroy the reputation of Aerogelic Ballooning when this is of no fault of ours. How do you book direct? This would have never been a problem. Or even had you not clicked the don’t share option we would’ve had a phone number. Also, we never received a call from you that morning, therefore, you were obviously calling TripAdvisor we would appreciate you deleting this due to this being of no fault of ours

The only reason I am not giving this place a one star is because of the views while we were in the air. This company is extremely unprofessional and disorganized. The first time we were supposed to go on the ride it got canceled due to the wind which is completely okay and understandable, safety first. We rescheduled to the following Sunday. We showed up 25 minutes early, the chaser van was a few minutes late. The pilot never showed up, not even a text or a phone call. We waited 30 minutes for the staff to figure out what to do since the pilot wasn’t answering. We’re talking to the staff they were telling us that it’s unlikely that this was to happen again and extremely rare. And that they were just going to tell the rest of the people there that he had a family emergency because people tend to take that better than someone just not showing up. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. A girl that was supposed to be on the ride told them this was the second time that the pilot had not shown up. We all stated that it’s extremely unprofessional and that most of us drove at least 30+ minutes out to be here. For us personally it was (45 min of a drive each way.) We were told to call the office at eight and reschedule. If I knew what my experience would’ve been like I honestly would’ve just gotten my money back.

So I am the pilot that didn’t show up. I was with my wife in the emergency room. I’m am sorry I was late getting out of the room so I could call the passengers. I am sorry that I ruined your morning. I know I must have ruined a special occasion due to her emergency. Anyways if there is anything we can do to fix this terribly unprofessional situation please let us know

Beautiful sunrise views, we rode in a large basket making for a comfortable ride. It was fun and interesting to watch them unpack & inflate, and deflate & repack the balloon as well— much quicker/smoother than I’d anticipated! We’d had this on our bucket list and we’re so glad to have done it! Word of warning: you have to be mobile enough to easily climb in and out of the basket (no step stools, etc). The crew works for tips so be generous!

Way too crowded on the hot air balloon. Should be max 16 people (even that’s a lot) we could barely turn our bodies to look in different directions. We had 21 people on one hot air balloon. Also way too long of a trip. If we aren’t seeing something different 45 minutes is way too long, 20 would be fine if it’s not gonna go further and show us a different area. Standing there and looking at the same view… Also would like to be offered the inclusions I paid for. We did not get offered fresh fruit or champagne. We got denied by one person and an excuse from another as to why we didn’t get what we paid for. He was very rude when I asked for it and had a disrespectful attitude. Not sure why but there’s no excuse.

I am sorry that the wind was so cold you didn’t feel like we went far enough. Next time I’ll do better. I asked for your family members turning down the option of champagne and fruit perhaps you want to have a talk with them. In the meantime we are very sorry it did not meet your expectations we hope you give us another try to show you a better experience. Just call us direct and explain your expectations and we will perform

This organization Unreliable and unprofessional. I was looking forward to the sunrise ballon ride coming from a far. I received a confirmation text the day before of my tickets and showed up to my schedule time. However, once I arrived to the destination, I went to check my emails to get my tickets and said it was canceled. We thought it was unprofessional because We saw many passengers still in process of attending, while we had to wake up early for a sunrise setting and come from afar, just for them to cancel through email just a few hours before our s scheduled time.

Only cancelations in weeks was this this Sunday, whom were canceled several days before…? We also called the number given and emailed. So, I don’t understand…? We were also there at the meeting location. You could have come talk to us as well. This doesn’t make any sense….? Unless maybe Viator canceled you for some reason; or maybe writing a review on the wrong company. Wish we could get more details to help with this.

Very friendly and professional crew! I was a little nervous before the trip as this was my first time ballooning, but I felt so safe flying with these guys. It was a much calmer flight than I imagined it would be, the views were incredible and our pilot and fellow passengers were a hoot to ride with. I highly recommend this experience with Aerogelic!

Such a great experience from start to finish. Staff was fun, professional, informative, friendly, and genuinely glad to take us on the sunrise tour. View was great and the tour guide was eager to teach us about the area and ballooning. The champagne toast at the end was a great touch and fun finish. If we do this again, we'll definitely use this company!
