What to expect
After being picked up from your central Salta hotel, meet your guide and small group of no more than 15 people, and set off south along Route 68. Keep your camera close to hand as you wind your way through the wild landscapes of the Lerma Valley, along the Río de las Conchas, and into the heart of the Quebrada de las Conchas canyon. Jump out to admire some of the reservation’s most memorable landmarks, including the imposing Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) and the aptly nicknamed Anfiteatro (Amphitheater), as your guide explains the region’s unique geology, sculpted over millions of years. Continue to La Punilla, where the unusual rock formations offer ample photo opportunities, and Los Castillos (The Castles), where the striking red rocks are reminiscent of a castle. Arrive in Cafayate, where you’ll have time to enjoy lunch (own expense) and explore the town, before visiting some of the region’s wineries. Depending on the day, visit one or more of Cafayate’s wineries, and get chance to taste Argentina’s famous Torrontes wine, an aromatic white wine. After a full day exploring the region’s impressive landscapes, return to Salta, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

A Must
May 2021 • Couples
Great attention, we had to re schedule twice our transfer to and from the airport due to airline's issues and they were quick to give a solution.
Martin and Omar are great guides, very knowledgaeble and funny.
From now onwards Nordic is my way to discover the north.

Spectacular scenery and good wine
This was our second tour with Nordic Tours. We had the same guide, Eugenia, who is very good. There was confusion for me regarding pick up, as I could not read the message written in Spanish saying that we had to meet at their office instead of being picked up at the hotel. English would have been helpful. Make sure you find a Spanish speaker to help you with messages from the company. Despite this, Eugenia was helpful and gave me directions to a spot in south Salta where the bus picked us up. The scenery was magnificent and the stop at the winery was great (you get generous samples of wine). We had ample opportunities to take photos and explore the unique rock formations (the devil’s throat and the amphitheater). The restaurant recommended by our guide was good value for the peso (appetizer, main course, dessert and 1/2 litre of house wine for 2 was 800 pesos). I would recommend this tour.

Momentos inolvidables!!!

Salta la linda!!!! It has so much to offer!! Thank you Nordic for the chance to see all this beauty! It was my second tour with Nordic! And I was happy to have the same English-speaking guide Sole who is also a great photographer who will do her best to get you your perfect picture lol...and Carlos, the driver, brought us back home safe and sound even though the road was full of rocks and flooded by the rivers ... Great people, stunning landscapes and good vibes! Highly recommended ❤️

This was a wonderful way to see the spectacular countryside between Salta and Cafayete
Jan 2020
The terrain, mountains, hills and scenery is something that everyone should experience when in the area. The tour itself was very good. The guide was extremely informative. She was very good at sharing the information in both Spanish as well as English. The time spent in Cafayete was very good.

This was a worthwhile tour.

WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY TRAVELER LIFE
May 2019 • Family
FOREIGN TRAVELLER MUST read. Be aware of the horrible treatment you will receive if an accident were to happen while you are in the tour.
My Mom (77 years old) broke her hip and wrist bones due to the most silly fall at the fist stop of a tour.
The tour guide continue the journey abandoning my Mom, my Dad and I in the middle of the most remote area saying that we would have to wait for a taxi to take us to the most near (2 hours drive) hospital.
Because of the emergency of the case I did not yet have the time to sue them alleging the most horrendous treatment received in my traveler life.
This Company is outsourced by a wellknown wholesale tour seller so please DO NOT BOOK with them. I am saving you a big headache.

A wonderful place!!
May 2018 • Family
I went there with my family and we were shocked!! Luckily we could listen some groups musicians and the acoustic was stunning. It's a nature amphitheare. Really worth it! We could go to another nearby place called the "Garganta del Diablo". It`s just 40 minutes trip from Cafayate, we admired colorful gorges, vineyards, and mountain village of the beautiful "Salta la linda"

Funny bus-tour with an astonishing view
Feb 2019
Nordic travel tours start early in the morning and keep you busy for the whole day, but that's because of the large distances we have to cover in order to see such an amazing landscape. The city of Cafayate is 190 km from Salta, but the trip is worthy because of the panorama you can admire on the way there. Moreover, the guide Antonio entertained us with amusing stories during the whole trip.

Not really an English tour...
I am sorry, but I have to give our tour a bad rating. We booked the English tour to Cayafate including a winery visit but there was almost no English explanation at all, just Spanish. Here the cons and pros:

CONS:
- the guide was not confident in speaking English - he explained things along the way for like 10 minutes in Spanish to then only give some catch phrases in English for like 30 seconds
- as we were the only 2 English guests we had to sit in the front in separate rows and sides (even though we could have sat together in the back) so "he can explain it better for us" - but it was so loud in front, that we mostly did not understand anything - he used a microphone for the Spanish explanations, but I guess was to shy to do so for the English ones
- in the winery he took off and did not attend the tour and the local winery owner explained everything just in Spanish, so we were forced to stand around for 30 minutes not understanding anything...

PROS
- reasonably priced
- the bus was new, well climatized and had USB power sockets at every seat
- pick up at the hotel worked well
- winery and tasting were nice
- lunch restaurant is well rated on TripAdvisor and no tourist trap

Without the language barrier I would have given at least 3 or even 4 points, but we did not receive the service that we booked and therfore I cannot recommend the tour for Non-Spanish speakers.

Dear Ann Thanks for writing this opinion, it helps us to know the guides that really work hard and guide in two languages as appropriate. The guy who was with you guiding speaks English but in new. Our company has 5 guides who speak English which their languages of origin are in English or have several years of experience abroad that makes them speak correctly. We regret that you did not like the experience and we are committed to always send the best guides in English we have. Thanks again. regards!

Misleading Description
Apr 2018 • Friends
While this was a lovely and professional tour, the title and description were very misleading. First, the agency refused to pick us up because we were just over 10 blocks away from the agency, however, they picked other people up that were further away than us. Second, we signed up for an English tour; this tour was entirely in Spanish. Third, there was hardly any wine. We spent less than 15 minutes at a vineyard. While I would recommend this tour for the breathtaking views of the valley, I believe the agency should change the title and description of the event to better reflect the nature of the excursion.
