Discover Buenos Aires on this 8-hour bike tour. Sip mate and sample alfajores at the Floralis Generica sculpture. Learn about national history in the Plaza San Martín and the Plaza de Mayo. Explore stylish Puerto Madero and enjoy a sandwich on the banks of the Río de la Plata. See the colorful streets of La Boca, the Bombonera stadium, scenic San Telmo, and the Recoleta Cemetery.
What to Expect
It goes all over the main spots of the city: Floraris Generica, Plaza de Mayo, Puerto Madero, Caminito, La Boca, San Telmo, Congreso, Recoleta, Palermo. A great opportunity to bike around the city from north to south in one day, looking around and learning about their history, distinctive features and contrasts. We meet at our shop on 2269 Armenia St. ready to spend a beautiful day cycling around the city. Ride bikes and take the panoramic bike path on Avenida del Libertador that leads you along the edge of the sculpture parks, a work by the landscapist Carlos Thays. Stop at the Floralis Generica park to have mate (traditional infusion) with alfajores (traditional sandwich cookie). Reach Plaza San Martín, where you’re going to tell you about the great deeds of the Libertador de América (liberator of South America), and also about the anecdotes and stories surrounding the square. Move on through the Microcentro (central business district) to find Plaza de Mayo and La Manzana de las Luces, exceptional witnesses of the most transcendental events in the history of Argentina. From one moment to another, go from the oldest part in town to the newest: Puerto Madero, with its docks, restaurants, towers and glamour, which make it a perfect place to cycle around. Then, get on your bikes again towards the Costanera Sur, where you’ll enjoy the tranquility of this oasis in the middle of the city. Take a break on the old Río de la Plata river bank to try a delicious sandwich at one of the typical food trucks of the promenade. It doesn’t get any more Porteño than that. Fully recharged and with a happy stomach, continue to La Boca to visit the colorful tenement houses of Caminito and the Bombonera –Boca Juniors’ stadium. Keep on cycling and move on to the old San Telmo. Go through its beautiful and charming cobblestoned streets that will lead us to Plaza Dorrego and the old market. Now it’s time to move north, but before that, you’ll have one more stop to see the Congress building where we’ll tell you some details about its construction and history. In the last section of the bike tour, ride through Recoleta, a residential neighborhood, and focus on its cemetery, that you will walk through to better look at its impressive tombs and mausoleums, where the remains of great Argentine personalities from every field rest in peace. From there, you start your way back and finish the biking tour at the shop.
