    What to Expect
On this half day tour in Soweto, your guide, who was born and raised in Soweto, will take you past all the hotspots in Soweto. The Soweto tour will take you deep into the township culture, so you can enjoy a personal experience of how vibrant and lively this part of Johannesburg really is.

On our way to Soweto we pass by the National Football Stadium, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cup 2010. We enter the Diepkloof area, where we will take a walk past vendors selling just about anything.

In Orlando West we visit Vilakazi Street- drive past the former home of Nelson Mandela and past the home of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. You will have an opportunity to read about the Soweto uprising on 16 June 1976. On that tragic day an innocent little boy called Hector Pieterson gave up his life and kick-started the liberation of South Africa.

During this Soweto tour we will pass by the Mandela House. A visit into the museum is optional.

We continue our Soweto tour driving into one of the shanty towns where you get to interact with some of the locals.

We drive past the Soweto Campus of the Johannesburg University and end our tour with a stop at the largest hospital in the world: Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

Our tour started late. We were rushed through the museums. We didn’t have enough time get out at Mandela’s house and actually tour. We were given the option to take a picture in front. Not sure if I would recommend this tour.

I had Ben as my tour guide and since I was the only one taking the tour it was even better. I had a chance to ask a lot of questions he was extremely knowledgeable about Soweto and Joberg’s history. I was fully engaged the entire time. I learned how to say Waalla wasala which

Having lived in East Africa decades ago, we have seen poverty and knew what to expect. However the tour was an eye-opener! Soweto today is a picture of "the have nots" due to apartheid politics. This can never be acceptable in one of the world´s richest countries. Being fetched

This tour started out well, but lost steam part way through. We had booked on the basis that it was a 4 hour tour starting at 9am, which would have given us time to get back to the hotel by 1.30pm. However, the pick-up was delayed and then we had others on the tour that delayed

Good day, Thank you for posting your review about your experience with us in Soweto. We do apologize about the delays. On group tours, it can be very difficult to say what will happen for sure. Some guests do delay the tour when they do not adhere to their pick up times. Other times, we have accidents on the road and traffic which prevents us from getting to you on time. We are currently working on ways to improve our time keeping. Thank you for making us aware of this. We hope you’ll be on tour with us again soon! Best regards, Michelle

Nick was a nice guide, with lots of knowledge as he was born and raised in Soweto. The half day tour has 5 stops (World Cup Stadium, Hector Peter Museum, Nelson Mandela House (on own costs), Informal Settlement, Orlando Towers). You really get to know how people live in Soweto
