We loved our tour guide Christi ( I hope I spelled his name correctly). He took us to a wonderful restaurant and helped us with ordering specialty dishes common to this area in Bulgaria. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He answered our questions and was a safe driver. The van/bus was comfortable and he made stops for the passengers to have breaks from the long drive. I highly recommend this trip and this tour guide!!

It was a very nice tour with an excellent guide, Elena, who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The tour started and ended on time and included just enough free time to explore sites. The vehicle was comfortable for our medium sized group and there were no surprises, i.e. we were well-prepared crossing the Romania-Bulgaria border twice. It was an excellent experience and I highly recommend the tour, company, and guide.

Our guide was very informed and engaging with regard to the sites we visited and questions the group had. The guide and driver both were also very professional and accommodating. A lovely (if very long) day visiting some beautiful places in Bulgaria!

Our first time in the region. The guide was on time, the van/bus was comfortable. They made stops for restrooms. Make sure to bring local currency to pay for the entrances, lunch and to purchase little gifts, not all stores accept credit card. The guide, Rodika, was very informative. The monastery was interesting, and the fortress was impressive. We had a great time.

The driver left without me though i waited as agreed. I phoned at the pickup time and I was told to wait. The driver claims she phoned but no calls on my phone. She blamed me for her mistake. Maybe its for the best, i didnt go.

We got back at 9.30 pm. As others have said, it depends on the border crossing.

The coach we took did not have a toilet. We did stop about an hour into the journey and there are toilets at all of the sites.

My pickup point was near Hotel Minerva. There are a handful of spots scattered throughout the city. Mr. Tripp was very good at telling us exactly where and when to be ready for pickup.
What hotels would you pick up from? Trying to schedule for next week.

Hello, I would like to take this tour with a friend, but he can't go inside the monastery, would this be a problem? And if not, is the price will be lower without the monastery tickets ?
Norma S

The trip with mr. Tripp did not include the entrance fees to the monastery or the fortress. The guide collects the equivalent of 5 euros per person in Bulgarian currency to cover the fees to enter these two places. I’m sure the guide will accommodate this as this is one of the reasons they pay it separately. There is a place to wait outside the immediate entrance to the monastery and wait for the group.

Can I check with you, do I need to change some Bulgarian currencies in advance or I can pay with Euro for the food and admission tickets? Do the restaurant and admission office of the monastery etc. accept contactless payment by credit or debit cards? Thank you.

We are from Canada, and didn’t need a visa to enter Bulgaria, which is a member of the European Union, although we were advised to carry our passports with us. You should check with your travel agent about visa requirements. I think the tour company in Bucharest that runs the day trips to Bulgaria should also be able to tell you if you’ll need a visa to visit Bulgaria. I wish you good luck, as this trip was well worth the time and money spent.

I wanted to book this trip, but it is showing that we must select atleast one adult.
Is it necessary that if we are below 25 we must be accompanied by adults?
Can someone help me regarding this?
