Itinerary
- 1During this full-day Mt Pinatubo tour, you’ll ride an enclosed 4WD vehicle over a rugged lahar trail made of volcanic mudflow and rock debris—geological remnants of the world's second-largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century. First, settle in for the drive from your Manila hotel, departing before the sun rises. Catch up on sleep or eat the breakfast you brought along before arriving at Capas Tarlac, where you’ll depart for Sta. Juliana Base Camp. After a safety briefing, hop behind the wheel or into the passenger seat of your 4x4 and follow your guide along a bumpy route, referred to as the Sky Way. You’ll make your way over the volcanic terrain until arriving at the base of the volcano. Disembark your vehicle for a leisurely, but moderate, guided trek to Mt Pinatubo Crater, starting down a lahar slope and then climbing into the forest. During the hike, your guide points out valley streams, volcanic rocks and other natural features in the landscape. Finally, climb a stairway to the viewing deck to peer at the shimmering, gemstone-like green waters of the crater lake from afar—swimming is prohibited. You'll have free time to explore the region before starting your trek back. When you reach the area where your 4x4 is parked, climb aboard for the rugged ride back to base camp. Replenish with authentic. You’re free to take a shower here before your return drive to Manila. Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel in Manila.

We sampled the fruits along the way; viewed Taal volcano from another mountain and upclose by riding the bangka boat on the lake. Highly recommend this trip. Last, our guide and driver kept us entertained.Written February 1, 2025

Our guides, Bella and Julius, were incredibly knowledgeable, sharing lots of interesting information and answering all our questions. They also made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the trip. - Victor N0 contributionsGreat experience, friendly guideWent on the tour as a solo traveler, and as there were no other travelers taking the tour on the same day it was just me. A VIP experience! Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful guide (John). We went to a pineapple farm, where I got to try some fresh Filipino pineapple, then to a local market and last to People's park in the sky, with great views of the Taal volcano and the surrounding lake. A great tour for those who want a shorter excursion from Manila. Would highly recommend.Written January 27, 2025

- RanyDanny0 contributionsManila basics but worth itWe only had one day in Manila post-cruise and wanted to know the most important highlights of the city. The tour picked us up in the airport hotel and two guides and the driver helped us make the most of our time. Be aware that traffic in Manila is extremely heavy. so will spend a lot of time in the car/van. but it is what it is. One of the guides was a history student, so we've got very interesting information of the three places we went to. Perhaps it will be a bit challenging if you have a large group but this time we were only two families, so it was easy to adapt to our interests.Written January 25, 2025

Where to begin?! Such an amazing day! My partner and I got picked up from our hotel in Makati at 3:30am where we met Pedro our driver and Mark our guide/translator and had a 3 hour drive up from Manilla. We were able to sleep in the car, we stopped around 5:30-6am, and moved to a 4x4 and met our local guide Jerry - where we proceeded to have a bumpy ride for about an hour to the beginning of the trek. Mark gave us lots of insightful information, even threw in a Tagalog lesson. Jerry would tell us little tid bits and Mark would translate for us. I would definitely recommend water shoes as you do cross many rivers along the trek. The trek itself wasn't too hard, there are little rest huts along the way, and only takes about an hour to an hour and a half. There was a gentleman selling fresh coconuts on the trail as well. The view at the Crater Lake is magnificent! You can even walk down and look at the lake from the shore. Unfortunately, you're not able to swim there as it is prohibited. We stayed here for 30 minutes, before we made our way back to the 4x4. I recommend bringing masks as it does get quite dusty on the way back to the car, and put on sunscreen as it gets quite sunny on the drive back. After the 4x4 ride, we had a delicious lunch and then made our way back to Manilla, getting back around 3:30pm.
I would definitely do this again!

Mount Pinatubo is really stunning and the view is beautiful. The walk is very long and challenging in parts having to walk over large rocks in the river so do be careful as I almost fell once but as a solo traveller I had tremendous support from the tour guide Joannah who was always there to lend me one on one support. Another person helped with other members of the group.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes or even better water shoes and travel very light. The long ride on the jeep is bumpy so hold tight, and its advised to wear sunglasses during the jeep drive to prevent light dust from touching your eyes.
Joannah and another local guy helped me hugely by very kindly carrying my heavy backpack for me all the way to make the walk easier for me.
She assisted me in walking over the rocks and for the times we had to jump over the water (I wore trainers which was fine but I think water shoes would be better). She was always very attentive and took great care of me to make my entire journey as comfortable as possible . I ignored her advice to bring sunglasses which I didn't know was for the sand. However she was kind enough to lend me her hat and sunglasses.
She explained well the indigenous lifestyle, phiilipino culture and genuinely offered to kindly make recommendations even outside of her working hours.
Marion was a trusted,
enthusiastic driver that drove us back safely over a long drive and managed to get us back home in good time despite the challenges of traffic in inner Manila.
I am glad to have travelled on this tour with both of them and am especially grateful to Joanna for all the help, patience and care she gave me throughout my journey to see the beautiful view. Be generous as there are various other drivers and helpers involved in the process that would also benefit from being tipped.

First of all our guides Sean and Marvin were very friendly and helpful as well as fun and interesting people to spend the day with. They picked us up at our hotel in Manila promptly at 3:30 am and we drove about 2 hours to the point where we transferred to the 4X4 jeeps and Landcruisers. This is where both the adventure as well as the misery begins, trust me if you’re not up to riding a bumpy, rough off-road vehicle for an hour then don’t go because this is what you have to do. But, the scenery was out of this world and made the sore back and butt worth it! Next came a really nice 2 mile hike through some beautiful, unusual and breathtaking landscapes that was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. There are several stream crossings that can be tricky and the trail is gradually uphill about all the way but your efforts are rewarded with a stunning view of the Mt Pinatubo crater lake. We stayed here about an hour resting and taking in the magnificent scenery before heading back to the 4X4 vehicles. PS: there are “bathrooms” located throughout the trip but be sure to have 10 peso coins each time otherwise you’re out of luck, getting change is next to impossible. There were drink and food vendors at the crater if you don’t bring your own.
Don’t hesitate to do this trip if you’re in Manila, it’s an experience you will never forget!

Had a wonderful time visiting Mnt Pinatubo with Johanna our wonderful guide she is absolutely wonderful always smiling and positive speaks great English. Our driver and additional pathfinder Kuya and Marlon were very friendly and professional.
Hotel pickup from Makati at 2:45AM from there an hour on a 4x4 jeep to where the walking starts. It is an easy 2 hour hike to Pinatubo crater lake and another 2 hours back to the jeep. Can’t recommend these guys enough.

It was easy to book with YOLO snd they promptly responded to questions via Whatsapp. The scheduled pick up was smooth, our guide for the day was Eddy, local guide Paolo and driver Malon. We learnt about the volcano and landscape, as well as about indigenous people who live in the area. The guides were attentive and made sure we safely navigated the trail. It's not a difficult hike, but the trail is rocky, we enjoyed crossing the stream to cool our feet. We spent almost an hour at the lake and our guides took a lot of photos of us :) I'd definitely book again with YOLO!

We joined a tour to Pinatubo, the tour guide Einstein and driver Pedro were so nice! They arrived the pick up time on time, and we had a comfortable journey in the car. After arrival in Pinatubo, Einstein stayed with us with the local tour, he was so talkative and his English is so good! We had a great time to know more about the information of the Pinatubo and the culture of Philippine from him. And he took a lot of beautiful photos for us, and we loved it! They made our trip so perfect! We definitely will join the YOLO tour again when we back to manlia next time!

Einstein was our tour coordinator and Pedro was our driver in our 1-day trip. They’re both very attentive, friendly and helpful. We’re grateful to have them to be with us for a day, especially Einstein and our local guide. They’re devoted to their jobs and cared for us during the day. Einstein is an incredibly nice and responsible person. He introduced us a lot about the cuisines and cultures of the country. We had a fun trip!

the tourguide Sean was really nice and could answear to every question. the walk was short and not hard, we expected it would be harder as it was in reality. the mount pinatubo was really nice and beautiful to see! the food was nothing special (easy but traditional). To be honest, the tour is overpriced but the view and the landscape are still incredibile and amazing!
