- Jackie W00Hidden gems with a lively guideKevin was a fun and very knowledgeable guide. We ate at places we never would have found on our own and tried several new and delicious dishes and drinks. We would highly recommend doing this tour at the start of your stay in Osaka.
- Kevin C00Excellent tourDamien was an excellent tour guide. The tour was very informative and fun. Would recommend to anyone who is new to the area. Highly recommended!
- johannav71500DeliciousThe food was delicious. We came on places were i never should come on my one. The guide was very friendly
- cj_punk_00900Good Tour Until the Whale MeatThe tour was great up until the whale meat. That entire industry is just so morally and ethically disgusting. I understand and was told I didn't have to eat it (although the couple that was with me seemed on the fence about it until the guide pushed a "while in Rome" cliche). But I just felt wrong sitting in that place, and knowing that my money is going to support any part of that industry. It's hours after the tour, and I still can't shake the negative feelings. I honestly would not have booked this tour if I knew whale meat would be purchased with my money.
- maldonadodanny8700Unforgettable experience with Mico as our guide. This food tour was a great experience. The food was delicious and our tour guide Mico was absolutely fantastic. Due to the time difference between Japan and the US, my fiancé and I got the dates mixed up and almost missed our scheduled tour but the company was so attentive and accommodating that they reached out when they noticed we didn’t arrive on time and provided us with a location to catch up to the group. Once we arrived, we were able to meet up with Mico and he went above and beyond to provide us with an outstanding experience. His knowledge of the food, the locations, and the culture really made us appreciate Osaka in an authentic and meaningful way. As an added bonus, Mico’s mixed heritage was similar to that of my fiancé’s and mine which really helped us connect on a deeper level. We met some great people on the tour as well which made the experience that much better. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Osaka for the first time and even more so recommend that you request Mico as your guide.
- joshuagK1484GD00Excellent Local ExperienceFantastic food and got to try some truly local places that the average tourists would never go to. Our guide was also very funny and the overall experience was worth it for sure.
- morganr51600Fun tour for our party of 8The food tour was fantastic. Our guide Kevin was knowledgeable and fun. We went to a great udon spot that we never would have picked for ourselves. We learned a little about the area and culture as well. Highly recommend.
- laurenm29200Awesome Food TourMy husband and I went on the Osaka Food Tour and had a great time! We are American and some of our anxiety in travelling to Japan was knowing what food to get where. This tour hooked us up! We went to 5 awesome places and had so much food! The gyoza was my personal favorite. We also had a great time getting to know our tour guides and the others on the tour with us. It was such a great way to get oriented to Osaka and have a fun night out. Also, the surprise dessert at the end was hilarious :).
- SydsLocalEats100Perfect night, amazing food and guide! This is a must do tour if you are in Osaka! Not kidding highlight of our time in the city, you must do this and book in advance to get the date you want because it will fill up fast. Every place we visited was better then the last and we got along with everyone on the tour so well! Not to deter anyone but only book if you are willing to try new food and be in a good mood, this is not the time to be picky and cause a fuss, it will ruin the vibe for everyone and the people who sign up for this tour want to have a good time with new people eating and drinking new things. Book now if you want to have a great night in Osaka with a full belly!
- Shanay B00Fantastic time!Amazing adventure with Anna! Our family group of 10 had so much fun with her. She was knowledgeable and infused Japanese and Osaka’s culture into our tour. Thank you for a great evening!
- kazlynp00Great intro to local area and local foodFantastic afternoon with Michael touring Kuromon Market. We tried delicious food - a lot of which we wouldn’t have by ourselves - and learned a lot about the food, the market and surrounding area. Michael was a great guide and very responsive to our interest in the area, providing a lot of info and insights we would not have otherwise known. If you’re not familiar with the food or the area or Osaka more generally, I thoroughly recommend this tour.
- mr_adriano00Best way to experience Osaka and its food!Food was amazing. Tour guide knew all the best spots and all the insights where to eat and the history of the area. Highly recommend!
- AdelaideJane123400Great night outGreat to be taken around to different food spots we would have never found ourselves and learn more about the food culture in osaka. Our guide Adam was very knowledgeable.
- jeremygK3874JM00Knowledgeable staff showed us the best spotsDominic and Milo were amazing! They answered questions well and had good expertise in the area. We saw a lot of the downtown and learned a lot of 19th and 20th century history. Tried some of their food recommendations afterward, which were delish. Appreciated their recs for Kyoto and beyond.
- JMichael9500Osaka City CenterI had a great time in Osaka and did the group tour option as a solo traveler. It was myself and one other group of 3 people. I’m staying outside of Osaka so it was a very good way to see the city and get a lot of recommendations on places to go and things to try. Throughout the tour, our guide was constantly telling us restaurants to try, places to see, and additional things to do which was great! Definitely schedule a tour at the beginning of your trip so you can take advantage of this! I appreciate learning about all the fun facts and being able to ask about cultural / societal norms. Our guide did a great job explaining every question asked and more! The tour was really customizable and the guide never ran out of options! He also went out of his way to take photos of us if we wanted which was a bonus 🙂

Very cool trek through the more unseen portions of urban Japan. This 2-3 hour tour went through some really cool, 'locals only' parts of Osaka, with the inside scoop from humorous, empathetic English speaking tour guides. Would highly recommend if you want to learn more about the areas not listed on the tourism websites.

Booked this tour with high expectations and I confidently can say it blew my expectations even higher. Kevin was super knowledgeable about every little detail and gave us explanations about Osaka that no other tour would give us. You get to see an entirely different part of the city that would be impossible to get while walking it alone. Highly recommend it including dinner.

An excellent tour of the nightlife of Osaka. So many interesting things to see. The first half of the tour was light and fun. The second half explored more of the seedier parts of the town but was possibly even more interesting. We took our mature 13 year old as well as our other 3 older children. Our 13yo chose not to see some of the sights and the guide (Kevin) made this very easy while still accomodating the group.
Definitely recommended.

Our tour guide Luca was great!!!
We got to see a lot of the area and he told us a lot of the history and showed us a lot of the area and market. We were interviewed or filmed for a local tv show! We then proceeded to the back alleys and areas where we got some food and learned more about the area and culture.
Luca then took us to a restaurant where we got great food and met a local celebrity!! Overall was a great tour and learned quite a bit about the otherside.

Andy is great! He is so personable and easy to get along with. The food was amazing, but just getting to know him was a lot of fun. He gives a perspective of Osaka and Japan that you can't get anywhere else. Osaka is a gem, and Andy will help you experience what it really means to live there. If you prefer to see a city from the perspective of someone who lives there, I highly recommend this.

This was my first walking tour ever and it was beyond my expectations! It was a very clear meet up spot and every bit of the tour was exactly as described. There was also a super engaging tour guide Matt who was engaged and animated the whole tour! We were able to eat drink and see our way listerslly through the “ underbelly”. I was able to get a view of Osaka that I would not have been able to get elsewhere! Highly recommend!

For this tour we were lucky to be in a small group, which made the experience more fun and intimate. Bennet was our guide and he was a wealth of knowledge on Japan and the sites that we visited.
It was so much fun walking around the neighborhoods and learning everything from Japanese religion to the seedy underbelly of Japanese Society. This is an eye opening tour and I HIGHLY recommend it to any tourist traveling through Osaka to take this once in a lifetime tour.
Bring comfortable shoes, questions, and an appetite for all things Japanese .
Thank you Andy and Bennet for all that you do and for a great tour experience!

Initially we were looking for a food tour and chose this backstreet tour due to the high ratings. It definetely paid off. We walked streets and saw parts of Osaka we wouldn't have dreamed of checking out. We learnt alot about Japan and Osaka which you can't necessarily read about either. Also the food we ate has been the best we have tried in Osaka during our trip.
Kevin was our guide and he was funny and informative and even showed us karaoke after the tour. We don't speak Japanese at all really so he made everything very smooth and comfortable.
Thanks so much again Kev!

We spent several hours walking through the Shinsekai and Nishinari neighborhoods, eating, drinking and learning about the culture and history of Osaka. Our guide Aron did a really fantastic job of answering questions, providing helpful tips and, of course, leading us to a lot of really delicious food! He was friendly, knowledgable and, along with our fellow tourists, made for a great companion. He had clearly done a lot of preparation and guided us to several spots offering various delicacies, places that I'm not at all confident we would have found on our own. Everything we tried was fresh, delicious and there was more than enough food to make it worth the price. We had a wonderful time, and would recommend this tour to anybody.

Was a cold night but a fantastic group of people and Luca our guide was very hospitable and informative. Very interesting seeing this side of Osaka.
Nibbles on the way around and my son and i opted for dinner which we really enjoyed as we had food that i would never of tried and at a place i would never would have entered into but turned out a great night.
Luca also passionate about helping in this community and where we ate dinner they also help the youth in the area with meals and such.
Great to know this tour group also helps out
thanks Luca

What time does the tour start at? Is it flexible times?
Sienna L

My tour started at 5.30 as well. I dont think theres a lot of flexibility with timings. There was a big group when I went so we split in 2 groups. The second group left about 5/10 mins after us, so I would say that's about all the flexibility there is.

No, not at all Moetoo. There was just heavy rain for one night and did not cause any flooding nor landslides. Only the east coast of Japan was affected greatly.

Hoping to book a place on your tour - can you please tell me if there is a vegetarian dinner option at the restaurant at the end? Thanks!
Gem, absolutely we have vegetarian options at the final restaurant. Vegetarian yakisoba or okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza). We look forward to seeing you:)
