Tastuya took my friend and I on a rickshaw tour around the bamboo grove area and was absolutely wonderful! He gave us several tour options to accommodate our time limitations and budget and suggested many different routes depending on what we wanted to see (more bamboo forest or more temples). He was an excellent guide and told us about the area, Kyoto, and Japan in general. He was also a skilled photographer and went truly above and beyond to make sure that our visit was memorable and that our photos would be wonderful. Thank you SO MUCH Tatsuya for helping to make our trip so special and memorable!!

Dear Katlaf, Thank you so much for your wonderful review about not only our rickshaw services, but also our guide Tatsuya, who showed you around the Arashiyama area in Kyoto. Thank you also for explaining the process of choosing the tours! Though online only the most popular tours and routes are listed, we have quite a lot of different options to not only suit your available time and budget, but also interests and preferences. The tours can be customized. Our guides make sure to explain the different options and possibilities in advance so you can make an educated choice and choose a tour that is most suitable and tailored just to you. That way you can enjoy it, as well as the added Plus, which would be your knowledgeable guide, his photography skills! We hope you will remember the tour for a long time to come! Here is a comment Tatsuya wrote just for you: "Thank you for riding the rickshaw the other day! On the way to the bamboo grove with your friend you decided to go for a rickshaw tour instead, thank you very much! I think there were a few occasions where my English was a bit lacking, but I remember that you kindly continued listening to me. Come and visit Kyoto again some day!" We traveled to Arashiyama on a Saturday. It was the best decision we made to take the rickshaw ride. Our rickshaw driver navigated initially through the main street, passing crowds of people. We were so glad that we didn't have to walk among the crowd. As we were approaching the bamboo forest, there were massive amount of people, there were traffic personal opening the road to allow our rickshaw through. Once we got through the entrance, our driver took us to a private bamboo forest path, specially for rickshaw, away from all the people.
It was tranquil and unreal, got the whole forest to ourselves. Felt so privileged.
He took us around, quiet alleys, pointing out shrines , temples and street food stalls. He dropped us off by the Togetsukyo bridge to finish our ride. It was an unforgettable experience. Thank you , our rickshaw driver.

Dear RossOntario, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama! Thank you as well for taking the time to write a review about your experience. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the rickshaw experience and the tour with your guide. The bamboo forest is magical all year round, but especially in autumn having the private path just for the rickshaw makes for a guaranteed enjoyable experience. We hope you will remember the tour and time in Kyoto Arashiyama for a long time to come. Your guide Mizuhara was very happy to read your review and here is the reply he wrote: " Thank you very much for riding the rickshaw and thank you again for your wonderful comment. I am very happy that you enjoyed everything from the comfort of the rickshaw, to the scenery of the bamboo forest. No matter during which season you will come and visit Arashiyama, be it spring, summer, autumn or winter, you will be able to enjoy a unique season each and every time that will leave strong memories. In Spring there are the cherry blossoms, the fresh green and leafy season in the summer and to the snow covered winter landscape, there is always a wonderful sight to take in. Please come and visit Arashiyama again during one of its various seasons. Please take care of yourself. I look forward to seeing you again" Best Regards: Guide: Yuji MIZUHARA Staff: Larissa EBISUYA Rickshaw

I have been to Kyoto several times but this is my first time taking a rickshaw ride as I was physically very tired and could not walk much. Since I enjoyed and wanted to visit the bamboo forest and the surrounding area, I decided to take a 45 mins ride as i have another appointment thereafter. I had a ride with Shinnosuke. He brought me around (an internal path for rickshaw) and took very nice photos and the back of Arashiyama bamboo forest and the streets. Shinnosuke was very attentive and assuring as I was concerned of my weight as I am big and fat. He was very careful and cautious and always alerted me whenever the road was bumpy. I enjoyed myself very much !

Dear KKYZ, Thank you very much for your review and sharing pictures! Though you have been to Kyoto already several times, we hope you enjoyed parts of the Arashiyama neighbourhood and the bamboo forest from a different angle. As the rickshaw travels slower than a car but faster than average walking speed you can enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace while covering much ground in less time. Of course there rickshaw slows down at certain locations such as in the bamboo forest and the private rickshaw lane through the bamboo so you can fully enjoy and take it the dazzling sight of the green bamboo. We hope that the 45min ride allowed for sufficient time to rest while sightseeing so you could be energized and continue your travel well afterwards. We hope you had a great stay in Kyoto! Our guide was warm, welcoming and engaging. We did the 45 mins ride which was sufficient to get a good feel for the local area. The Rickshaw was very comfortable, don't let rain put you off as you are sheltered from the rain with a hood and blanket. They even provided seat warmers for us! The pace of the Rickshaw ride means you can take photos as you go along and enjoy the surroundings. You stop at various points and the guide provides really informative commentary. We particularly enjoyed going past Maruyama garden, as even in winter, it was beautiful. Our guide helped us get a taxi back to the station after our ride and letft us with a small souvenir of our trip which was a lovely touch. A fantatic traditional experience of Japan that we thproughly enjoyed.

Unless otherwise requested, our guide will curate and customize the rickshaw tour in such a way that you get to see the best of the area, no matter which season. I visited Ebisu-ya on our honeymoon in November 2023.

The rickshaw driver, Iwakawa-san, who was in charge of us in Arashiyama, greeted us with a very refreshing attitude.

It was the first time for either of us to ride a rickshaw, but the ride was better than we expected. It felt like we were riding in a car. The speed was just right, and even though it was November and the temperature was around 25 degrees around noon, it was still hot, but we were able to feel the breeze and it was comfortable.

Also, when the rickshaw drivers pass each other, they greet each other in a friendly manner, and when they see a rickshaw driver who is not driving, they always greet the passengers. This conveys the good atmosphere of Ebisu-ya.

The ride course is carefully selected, and the driver will create the best plan for your ride time. Depending on the course, you can go through a deserted bamboo forest that only Ebisu-ya can go through, and take photos there, and you can visit minor but impressive temples that are great for photos, so you can enjoy the Arashiyama area.

Iwakawa-san was always considerate of us during the ride, and he made sure to take the hood in and out according to the sunlight and the surrounding scenery, and even checked to see if we were thirsty and if we needed to go to the bathroom. When we passed in front of temples or went inside them, he carefully and politely explained their history.

He also had excellent photography and videography skills, and when we got off, our camera roll was overflowing with photos and videos. We were very satisfied.

He also introduced us to restaurants around the facility where we were staying, so we were able to enjoy Kyoto even after we got off.

He was very friendly, and we changed the original 130-minute course to the 180-minute Daimyo course, but the time still flew by in an instant. It was truly the best honeymoon ever.

I'm sure the other rickshaw drivers were all very nice people, but if I come to Arashiyama again, I'll definitely ask Mr. Iwakawa to help me.

I chose 30 minutes-ride-tour. and it was so nice. Bamboo area is always crowded, so I was wondering if we can enjoy tour, but you don't have to worry about that. There is a private road only for rickshaws and that's why we spent special time with friends. When you take picture, nobody comes in. I was also impressed by Yamamoto-san's guide. He is a passionate guy and took nice pictures of us.

Dear Abdulmajid, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us a few days ago! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the time on our rickshaw, especially the bamboo forest away from the crowds. The 30min tour is a good choice to get a good introduction to Kyoto's Arashiyama area. Besides visiting the bamboo forest on the special rickshaw-lane, our guide will have plenty of time to also explain to you other sights along the way but also to stop at beautiful locations to take a few commemorative pictures of you on the rickshaw. Here is a comment your guide Yamamoto-san wrote in response to your review: "Thank you for taking the rickshaw tour the other day! Thank you also for the highly-rated review! I am very happy! Arashiyama's autumn leaves are very beautiful, from mid-November to late November. When they are at their best condition, come and visit Arashiyama again!" We had a great experience with the Kyoto rickshaw tour during our family trip in December. From the moment we arrived, the rickshaw pullers greeted us warmly and made us feel completely at ease. They were not only incredibly skilled but also shared fascinating facts about the history, culture, and landmarks we passed by. They even stopped at the best photo spots and took incredible family pictures for us.

The level of care and attention to detail was great. They provided warm blankets to keep us cozy, and the rickshaw itself was clean and comfortable. The tour was the perfect blend of relaxation, education, and pure joy. Highly recommended!

Dear Amy_ross051093, Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama! Your guide Aki was super happy to read your review and see the pictures you posted, so thank you very much for the feedback. Though winter in Arashiyama is not a popular season for sightseeing due to the cold and rainy weather, there are still hidden gems and beautiful scenery to be discovered in every season! Aki is a very enthusiastic learner when it comes to the English language as well as about the history and culture of the area, so you can be sure to have found and Expert guide in him. My husband was slightly skeptical about taking a rickshaw tour in the bamboo forest at Arashiyama. However, this tour greatly exceeded our expectations, Our guide, Kazu was knowledgeable, entertaining, and courteous. Even though the whole bamboo forest area was loaded with people, there was a rickshaw-only path that allowed us to avoid the crowds while enjoying the beauty of the bamboo grove. While we toured and learned about Arashiyama, Kazu took the time to take photos of us in all of the best areas - he definitely knew all of the best photo spots and took really interesting photos! The tour was not overly long, and the rickshaw cover provided significant shade even on a very hot day. We believe that there was excellent value in this tour. We plan on taking the tour again when we visit in the fall next time so we can see the changing of the leaves and enjoy the beauty of the area in the fall. This was a wonderful experience. Domo arigato, Kazu!

Dear Elynyao, Thank you very much for taking the rickshaw tour with us in Kyoto Arashiyama. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the 45min tour with our guide Kazu. September in Kyoto can still get quite hot during the day and having the roof of the rickshaw up is good to provide some shade. In the bamboo forest the guide can then remove the roof again so you can have an unrestricted view on the bamboo. Your guide, driver, personal photographer is a multi-tasker dedicated to provide an unforgettable rickshaw tour experience, no matter the tour duration you choose. We look forward seeing you again in the fall! Kind Regards, Larissa EBISUYA Rickshaw
