One of the city’s best guides.
Andrey is an excellent guide, extremely knowledgable not just about the collection of the Hermitage but also about the best way to access the Museum just before it opened. Our group appreciated his expertise and his ability to bring the collection to life. We had an extra friend join us and it was no problem for Andrey to obtain an extra ticket for him.
All in all a great experience.

A fascinating and comprehensive tour
Feb 2020
Andrey was an excellent guide – knowledgeable and engaging, he clearly knows the Hermitage very well, as well as the history of St Petersburg itself. He picked us up promptly at the hotel and managed the timings really well, so that we saw a huge amount without feeling too rushed. Many thanks, Andrey!

More than just a guide
Dec 2019 • Couples
Andrey is more than just a tour guide - he is a tour de force. The depth and breadth of his knowledge and his insights into Russian and European art, history, architecture, culture and political landscape are encyclopedic. You will receive not only a comprehensive tour but also an understanding of Russia and its complex history and relationship with Europe. He has been visiting The Hermitage in particular since the 1970’s and knows it thoroughly. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Guide with an incredible amount of knowledge
Sep 2019
We booked Andrey for a 2 day tour of St Petersburg, there doesn't seem to be much he doesn't know - he is also extremely well traveled, many guides only know their city, but he's able to reference other cities and historic events/locations and put them in context with St Petersburg. We didn't queue once and he moved the tour to suit our needs and what we wanted to see. He was even happy to answer my boring questions about why Russian drainpipes are so big! (it's the snow). Would recommend to all.

Two Day Private Tour of St Petersburg Highlights
Sep 2019
We were lucky enough to have Andrey as our guide in St Petersburg for two days. He was very professional and very knowledgeable, I don't think there was anything we asked that he did not have an answer for. Our first day was completely filled with tours of the Hermitage, Winter Palace, Peter and Paul fortress, St.Isaac's cathedral and Church on the Spilt BloodWinter. Our second day we had a subway experience 3 stations of 1950ies on the way to Peterhof: Grand palace and Lower gardens with fountains, and then to Catherine's palace. Never would we have made it to all of these gorgeous sights without Andrey's guidance. Best part we were able to skip the queues and some were very long! Thank you again Andrey!

2-day private tour of St. Petersburg
Sep 2019
My husband and I contacted Andrey to arrange a private tour during our two-day visit while cruising. Andrey wasn't available but he recommended Victoria. Victoria did an excellent job of arranging the tour to fit our needs. We aren't big on touring museums, so Victoria dashed us in/out and around to just give us the highlights of the highlights. We love to see local culture and she did an excellent job of bringing us to places such as the markets and walking along the streets and eating at various local restaurants. It was an excellent two days, we highly recommend her! Thank you!

Do yourself a favor and hire a private tour guide while in St Peterburg, Hire Andrey to escort you...
Sep 2019
I read the reviews here on trip advisor and contacted Andrey who had such glowing reviews., Sadly he was already booked for the 2 days we were going to be in St Petersburg, but he was able to listen to all the things we wanted to see and do and he came up with a plan as well as 2 substitute guides to whisk us around.
So imagine that you are talking to a stranger half way across the world and sending him your personal information so he can get you a visitors visa. You can't get off your boat without one. You just can't simply roam around Russia on your own.
So Dilya picked up our party of 4 people (one in a wheelchair) and with her driver Also named Andrey we were off to see the sights and visit the hermitage and treasure room. The place was packed beyond belief with tours from every docked boat and every nation. Dilya patiently led us through the crowds and gave us a detailed description of the wonderful items and then we went to the treasure room which is overwhelming. We had not time to stop for lunch before heading back to the ship to change clothes for the ballet. Cinderella was being performed and it delighted indeed. Back to the boat to catch some sleep before the next morning where Dilya once again whisked the two men off to Catherine's Palace and Peterhof. It was pouring rain, but somehow it was a wonderful tour that got rave reviews. In the meantime Victoria took us two women to the Fabrege Museum and gave us explicit explanations about each egg. We didn't think we could walk anymore but managed to arrive at HARVEST restaurant for a really delicious and relaxing lunch. Then back to the boat.
Thank you Andrey for making all the arrangements and for answering all my questions. This was a highlight of our trip.

Considering how much tours cost if we booked them through our cruiseline as well as sharing this with another 20-30 other passengers the cost of these tours was very resonable even after we tipped the drivers and guides.

Best day ever
Sep 2019
We visited St Petersburg with a tour group 12 years ago and had about 2.5 hours in the Hermitage with thousands of other tourists. I love art and you could spend years in the Hermitage and simply scratch the surface, 2.5 hours didn’t cut it for me. We decided to return with a cruise that allowed us two days to tour St P, but we had to have a guide. We picked Andrey and it was one of the best travel decisions we've made.
He took care of the paperwork and we sailed through passport control to find him waiting for us with a private car. After a quick drive through St P to see the highlights, we arrived at the Winter Palace. I won't go into everything we saw, but Andrey must have a PhD in the Hermitage. We walked right in and he immediately took us through passageways to avoid tour groups. We had time in the stunning rooms to appreciate the art and architecture, sometimes, completely alone. He explained the highlights of every room and the background of the paintings and sculptures. He is shockingly knowledgeable. After a quick lunch break at the cafe, we proceeded outside to see the other buildings, the Hermitage is actually a collection of gorgeous buildings that make up the huge complex, and ended up in General Staff Building which is chock full of masterpieces and very few visitors- an art lovers dream.
On our second day, Andrey's associate, Dilya, brought us to the palatial metro stops. From there we visited neighborhoods to get a real sense of the city, from low end housing to oligarch mansions. She spoke English very well and was a real pleasure to spend time with. Demitri, our driver was very sweet, too. Definitely book a tour with Andrey. You will be happy you did.

We really can't say enough great things about Andrey, his tour, and his driver. We outlined the must see places with Andrey and the time we had (1 day) and he delivered exactly what we asked and much more. He has expert knowledge of the Hermitage and exhibits and got us through the door ahead of the large tour groups. We wanted to visit some places outside of the usual tour sites and he made sure we had time. He also took us to a wonderful place for lunch. This was our 2nd time to St. Petersburg and I would definitely book Andrey the next time. He is knowledgeable, pleasant, extremely educated and very organized. His driver is also an asset. This was our best tour on our trip and one we will all remember. Thank you Andrey. Don't hesitate to book him. He will deliver exactly what you want and for a reasonable price.

Wow. What a Sight!!
Aug 2019
We did a 4 hour Trip Advisor Sponsored tour of the Hermitage. This and St Petersburg Square are just breathtaking. It's easily as impressive as the Vatican. Each rooms has troves of priceless portraits, tapestries, furniture, and architecture. Our tour guide was friendly, informative, passionate, and understandable. Allow yourself much more time if you go. The only drawback were the crowds. Our tour group was just me and my wife; I can imagine it would have been very difficult for the larger groups to get around. I can't wait to go back to St Petersburg, and perhaps Moscow, and other great Russian destinations

Thank you for the review. Sorry for not being able to arrange a non-crowded Hermitage during the high season.
