About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- M2040LCmariac0 contributionsTrip to the Rice Terraces & SagadaOne of the wonders of the world, The Rice Terraces in Banaue. It is beautiful as most photos reveal. There’s the Ifugao side, photo of which is printed in the old P1000.00 ( one thousand peso bill) and the La Union side which is commonly featured in most magazines. A visit to the Cordilerra region orients one to ancient burial rites , the hanging coffins & piled coffins. It’s quite a driving distance from Manila & its totally sharp curbs zigzag roads all the way to the top & coming down. Highly recommend excellent drivers to navigate it. We were fortunate to have Jonathan from PrimeroTours to take us there w his co-driver Fritz. The scenic route in our return through Baguio will leave you in awe & speechless as to how beautiful this place is. Ignore your fear of deep ravines at the sides & heights!Written February 2, 2025
- ilanas9680 contributionsWonderful experience with JB doing an Intramuros tourWe had a fabulous tour to Itramuros with Jb, he was extremely knowledgeable and imparted that knowledge in an engaging and informative manner. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel, and along the way JB chatted with us and provided plenty of useful information about The Philippines, he was also happy to answer all our questions about where we should go etc. JB was very flexible with us, and we never felt like we were on a time schedule, it really felt like we could take as long or as short as we like at any particular stopover. We would not hesitate in recommending JB as a tour guide, we had an amazing time with him.Written January 5, 2025
- Bill107360 contributionsJB toursI have used JB twice as a tour guide. Once for the Bataan Death March tour. Second time I hired JB as a guide for 5 days in which we did Corrigador Island , Subic Bay, Clark Airfield, Fort Santiago and the Japanese tunnels in the Bamban hills. Both times JB and his driver were amazing. The knowledge of the different places we visited was excellent.Written November 5, 2024
- Shawn M0 contributionsA Story Well Told.My wife and I booked a private 2 day Bataan tour with JB Quemado. Since we had never been to the Philippines, only had a short time and knew relatively little about the WWII in the Pacific we felt duty bound (we are both US Army veterans) to book the best tour we could find. The Bataan Death March route is hallowed ground to us. We took a risk and booked JB’s private tour despite relatively limited reviews available. We hoped that the higher price would enable him to deliver a higher quality tour. Wow! He earned every penny. We were delighted. JB is a very experienced licensed tour guide with a degree in tourism from The University of Santo Thomas. He has nearly 30 years of experience guiding tourists, Death March Veterans and their families, very high ranking US Military Officers, US Embassy staff and VIPs. His knowledge of WWII, Manila and military topics in general is exhaustive. He can go deep into details an expert would appreciate but unlike history professors we have toured with in the past, he can humbly present basic information that a layman can easily understand. His descriptions are engaging and informative. This is difficult information to hear but JB elegantly balances the brutal facts with respectful lightness. One priceless bonus is JB’s second hand knowledge he learned from his grandfather growing up. His grandfather fought in the US Armed Forces of the Far East in WWII. He was captured by the Japanese when Bataan fell, walked the Death March to Camp O’Donnel, escaped from Camp O’Donnel and joined the resistance. He continued fighting with the guerrilla forces until the Japanese were defeated. JB has read a lot of history about WWII but growing up near Bataan with his grandfather and hearing his experiences in the war has given JB a level of insight a lifetime of research could not replicate. JB is also very well connected and resourceful. His tour includes a Corregidor tour conducted by a guide with 25 years of experience. On our tour we had the entire island to ourselves. There were no other tourists that day but JB made sure we had a private boat and tour bus. If other tourists are on the island you might end up comfortably sharing the bus with other guests (no more than 10) but the tour will still go even if it’s only one person. Another bonus is JB is a great Manila tour guide. He can’t help himself when driving through town pointing out sights and explaining the history of Manila. What to expect: - JB personally guiding you along the route. - A private car and driver (small new well air conditioned Toyota WiGo. Perfect for the two of us plus JB and his driver). He will get a larger vehicle for more guests. - A nice hotel on Bataan for one night. - A private boat ride to and from Corregidor. - A tour bus and specialist guide for Corregidor. - Stops at several different museums. - Stops at important locations along the Death March route. - A stop at Mt. Samat with an optional walk to the cross at the top. - A tour of Camp O’Donnell. Considerations. The boat trip to Corregidor requires getting on and off at the bow. The crew provides a ramp or steps but it could be a big challenge for someone who has difficulty walking. Weather conditions can affect the Corregidor schedule. Crossing the channel in a small bangka boat in high swells would be a difficult passage. JB actually changed our Corregidor tour day because he correctly anticipated larger waves from a storm several hundred miles away. Limited luggage space in the Toyota WiGo. This is the compromise for a roomier back seat and easy parking. It easily accommodated our day pack and carry on suitcase but we don’t recommend a full sized suitcase or a lot of luggage. We left our other bags at our hotel in Manila for our overnight stay in Bataan. In conclusion this tour was very much worth the price for us. This is a story that needs to be told and told well.Written June 25, 2024
- hirayam20210 contributionsThe best!We had visitors from the US and Germany and wanted to make sure we get to show them a glimpse of the Philippine history. Jb did such a great job with showing them around Intramuros and sharing our story to them. Wonderful jokes, trivia, and company! Our visitors mentioned that Intramuros was one of the highlights of their trip 😊 Would definitely recommend him & have him tour us again when we have another set of friends who will visit.Written April 1, 2023
- 252tatums0 contributionsInt’l visitors on Intramuros TourJB was a knowledgeable, engaging and fun tour guide who brought our group of 10 colleagues through a walking tour of Intramuros. From the onset, JB shared interesting facts and fascinating historical recounts of this historical and cultural site. He gave us plenty of photo opportunities, and injected some humor and jokes which we appreciated. I highly recommend JB as a tour guide and would utilize him again for our next Manila visit.Written March 26, 2023
- 421nikik0 contributionsA personalized custom-made tour with JBI was travelling as a solo female and JB and his team put together a custom-made tour based on the places I wanted to see. From start to finish I was very well looked after, given additional experiences that I would not have thought of doing and felt very safe during the whole trip. The highlights for me were the caves tour and Rice Terraces/Waterfall walk in Sagada but the whole trip was amazing and I would recommend JB!Written September 5, 2020

For WW II history buffs and those that want to understand the atrocities that occurred to both Filipinos and Americans during the Bataan Death March, this trip was absolutely worth it. JB and Rhonnie both have family members who were involved during this time and you can tell they have a passion to discuss their stories to ensure their memories are never forgotten. The tour consisted of visiting museums, the death March km markers, the train station where they were forced to cram in, and the surrender site. It was very eye opening to stand where these events occurred and we learned so much than what we could’ve in grade school. This tour is a must!

I woke up in the Villa Amuntai, the hotel I was staying in. For breakfast, I had bibingka, and then I headed towards the Bataan World War II Museum, to see some history. When I arrived, I walked in. It was very cool looking at all the different guns and statues of famous people from the war. I even saw a group of statues huddling around a table, strategizing! I stayed there for about 3.5 hours (I woke up at 6:57). Then, at 11:12, I decided to start looking for a place to eat lunch. I found a cute restaurant called Wa Nam Restaurant. I ordered Fried Rice & Asado. It was very yummy! Then I decided to swim a little bit. Or go on a boat ride. I decided to do both! I went to Five Fingers cove! Unfortunately, it was a 1 hour and 20 minute drive. However, that wasn’t going to stop me! I rented a car to get to Bataan (I previously was in Manila) so I drove there myself! By the time I got there, it was 1:18 ( I took around 56 minutes to get to and eat at the restaurant). But I didn’t care! I started to swim in the water. It was pretty warm and it was fun. The rock formations were undoubtedly beautiful. I got in a boat and made some new friends! The people here are very friendly and kind. I almost stayed for 5 HOURS! It was 5:39 by the time I got in my car again. For dinner, I went to the Pupung Grill. I had Pork Sinigang, which was hearty, very tasty, and warm. It was like 26 degrees Celsius outside but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. When I finally got to the hotel again, it was 7:58! I went to bed, feeling content with my adventure in Bataan.

We are World War II buffs and changed our flight so we could go on this tour. We were not disappointed. Our guide, JP, was friendly, on schedule, knowledgeable, and just a pleasant person to spend the day with. When we booked the tour we didn't notice it was on Easter Sunday but all the sights were open and welcomed us. One of the highlights was interacting with the people running these museums who view their work as a mission instead of a job. This tour was a great choice.

JB was an excellent tour guide, he knew the facts and he had lots of information. We had a great time learning the history and seeing the different locations. I unfortunately forgot the drivers name but he was very good and had lots of information as well. They both told us information about many different things on the drive. They also drove us to get breakfast and lunch. Both JB and our driver made for an amazing day of learning and exploring. We highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in WW2 history or Philippine/American history.

Amazing 2-DayTour with the wonderful Jb Quemado. I recommend his services with all my heart. My husband and I had a wonderful time visiting historical spots learning important history which Jb presented very well. I am a history buff and my husband is a comedy person. Jb was perfect for both of us!

We had a wonderful experience touring World War 2 historical sites with “JB” Quemado. JB has his own family connection to the Bataan Death March and POW camps on Luzon, and he is very knowledgeable about the history of the invasion and the liberation of the Philippines. JB is a very friendly, relaxed, and conversational guide (his English is excellent), which is great because the Bataan memorial sites are quite spread out so there is a lot of driving involved in this tour. JB is also very flexible, and he can probably accommodate any request you have to customize your tour if you want to focus on something specific - just reach out to him to discuss what you’d like to do. He went out of his way to get us to the Cabanatuan memorial when he learned of our interest in it. JB will take good care of you.

This tour was excellent if you are into history, and JB and Vincent really made it special for us. The car they drove us around in was comfortable and they spoke great English. It was a very personalized trip to us although they had everything planned out, we stayed at each place as long or short as we wanted. Not only did we get to see multiple death march sites, but we interacted with school children, saw the landscape of a southern Luzon, ate some Philippine food and received a cultural lesson from our guides. The tour took about 13 hours but would vary some based on how bad the traffic is on a specific day.

Awesome tour, but bee prepared for a long day and a lot of driving. I wanted to see the whole route and Our guide didn’t disappoint. Our guide was full of facts along the way. Most of these epic pieces of WW2 are becoming lost in time along with stories and memorials that honor men and women who endured. Thank you and all those that maintain the white markers and relics of the forgotten and for keeping the memories alive.
As for the long drive…those fallen heroes should have been so lucky.

Jb our tour guide was totally outstanding. He knew everything about the death march since his grandfather was in the death march and survived. It was an 11 hour tour every hour was totally worth it. We saw absolutely everything you could see about the death. March. JB was fabulous and our driver was just excellent driving us through the terrible Manila traffic.

I've always enjoyed history and seeing the places where these events took place is incredible. It covered so many areas, not just one or two spots. JB, my guide, was great as well. He has a personal connection with the events, as his grandfather was a survivor of the march. He is passionate about this tour and has many details to share. We'll worth the money.

Party of 2, off cruise ship that docks at 0800 on a Saturday. Departs same day at 1700. Are these times acceptable to fit this tour in, time wise? Also, would there be room for my husbands electric folding wheelchair? He and I would do the lifting of it. The cruise is March 4, 2023.
