We recommend this tour 100%! From the moment we booked the tour up until our return to Manila, our experience was incredible!

When planning the tour, communication with JP was very easy. He answered all our questions super quickly and was very accomodating. He organized our tour to Banaue to make sure we got to make the most out of our experience with the little time we had. He also made sure to tell us what to pack and what to expect.

When we landed in Manila in the middle of the night, JP and our driver Alex were there to welcome us with a big smile although our flight was very delayed! Our driver Alex was incredibly kind and knowledgable and made the long ride pass very quickly, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, and stopped at some great local spots to eat.

When we arrived in Banaue, we met with our guide Jonathan, who made us feel welcome right away. Jonathan was extremely kind, friendly and so knowledgable. All throughout the trip, Jonathan shared stories and history with us and made us fall in love with the region and the culture. Jonathan was extremely patient and encouraging during the hike and adapted to our pace very well (I am amputated and have a prosthetic leg) giving us the boost we needed to complete the beautiful hike through the Batad rice terraces and to the waterfall! We spent the evening hanging out with Jonathan and other guests at the inn.

The hotel we stayed at in Batad (Simon’s inn) was spacious, clean and had a breathtaking view! The owner was kind and welcoming and breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious.

It felt so good and resourcing to leave the fast pace of the city behind and simply enjoy the peace and quiet of the nature surrounding us.

All in all, this was an experience of a lifetime and exceeded our expectations, thanks to all these amazing people. We strongly recommend you book with Vagabond Pinas, you won’t regret it !

I will keep this short and to the point. I would highly recommend Vagabond Pinas for anyone wanting to see the rice terraces in the Banaue and Batad areas. JP put us together with Marvin our guide and Edmond our driver. Both were wonderful company and were instrumental in our fantastic time spent in the north Philippines.
The homestay and hotel they used were great. We enjoyed our trip there very much.

If you are thinking about driving north out of Manila on your own, forget it. I spent a lot of windshield time as a salesman and think I am a decent driver. But driving in the Philippines would have been a nightmare for me. Our driver Edmond was great. He earned every penny of his salary. I think the same goes for our guide Marvin. I think that trying to see the rice terraces without a guide would have been a certain reduction in the quality of our trip.

Vagabond Pinas made our trip to the rice terraces easy and enjoyable.

We spent a great time hiking the rice terraces around Banaue for 3 days. Our guide June Ognayon (you find him on Facebook looking for “Banaue Tour Guide - June Ognayon”) made the experience very special as he told us a lot about the local history, culture and tradition. It felt like travelling with a friend as we we talking so much with him. He shared valuable insights and we highly recommend to go on a tour with him. The scenery was just beautiful and we slept in two very nice homestays along the way. It was very insightful for us to see how the people in the northern Philippines live and we recommend this experience to every traveler!

5/5 would use JP’s services again

By far the best tour we had in the Philippines. My husband and I are overjoyed with JP’s drive from Manila to Batad Rice Terraces. It was very considerate of him to let us know what to pack the day prior and what to expect the next 3 days.
We started our ride early and stopped for food and stretching throughout.
The first homestead had a beautiful view with amazing food. I recommend trying the special adobo for dinner.
After a night’s stay, we enjoyed breakfast with a view, the local tour guide, Johnathan, made our way up to Batad. We had 2 view point stops where Johnathan gave us a brief history of the terraces and culture. When we got to Batad, there was a short hike to our overnight stay to prep and started our walk through the fields.
It was a hard walk for me as I’m overweight but JP and Jonathan were patient and encouraging. My husband went down to swim by the waterfall and loved it. From there we started our trek back, stayed the night and drove back to Manila.

Everything was well taken care of, great staff all along and good drivers. A private minivan and friendly staff at the hotel and tour. The guide knew his way around and the views there are amazing.

I had to catch a flight so they could change the tour a bit to fit my schedule.

Some rooms in the hotel have shared toioet/shower but good view, some rooms have city view and private bathroom.

This trip was amazing. Our driver was Anthony, he was friendly, helpful and got us to Banaue and back safely. Once at Banaue we stayed in the Banaue Homestay. The accommodation is basic but very clean and the hospitality is out of this world.
Our local guide was Kenneth and he was amazing. He was knowledgeable, patient, kind and had a nice sense of humor. He is native to the area and we were honored to learn from him.
This was the trip of a lifetime.

Thank you so much to JP for being such an incredible tour guide in Banaue and Batad!

Tour guide isn't even the right word to describe the level of impeccable service and warm welcome he gave my family and I during our time with him.

It was the reviews on TripAdvisor and on Facebook that encouraged me to book our private guided tour with JP and it's something my parents and I will talk about now for the rest of time.

We had such an amazing experience not only hiking the terraces themselves but we had great conversation throughout our trip and constant encouragement from JP for those of us (aka me!) who felt incredibly unfit during the hike.

Regardless, we made it through and it was more than worth it. It was really the experience of a lifetime and I would encourage anyone to book a tour with Vagabond Pinas and JP.

JP planned everything perfectly and made sure we felt comfortable, safe and had the best time!

I know myself and my family will be back as soon as possible! Thank you so much JP for everything! Maraming salamat po! ❤️
