Highly recommend Amazing Borneo for their hospitality and generosity to create our itinerary with us. While my husband and I covered the regular Kinabalu Park items, we also requested the river cruise tour to include proboscis monkey and firefly watching in Kota Belud.
I really enjoyed the flexibility which the agency allowed us to create our itineraries, and we topped up $75/pax so that our itinerary was a private tour! Great guidance and knowledge from our local guide Reynold who drove us around and gave us more insight into Borneo history and Sabah. Our agent, Emily, was also very helpful and responsive to all my enquiries.
I would be very keen to do another tour with them but to a different area in Borneo!

We were a family of 12,8 adults and 4 children, age 6-9.We did the 2D1N mount Kinabalu climb. The climb itself was exhilarating. We had 4 guides, which were very helpful and friendly.
However, we were disappointed with Amazing Borneo's service. First of all, Amazing Borneo (AB) did not communicated clearly to Kinabalu Park administration that the number of guides that we meant to have was 4 guides. We had to dispute it and showed the email to prove it. Thankfully, it was resolved and we had 4 guides.
Secondly, AB was meant to refund our overpayment by passing it to the driver during the pickup from the hotel. It was missed, no refund. When we try to organise the refund via banking transfer, AB refused to cover the banking fees. The amount was MYR116. After fees n currency conversion, the estimated refund amount was miniscule, probably less than AUD10. I did not pursue it.
I would have thought that from a business perspective, AB could have offered to cover the banking fees because it was AB mistake in the first place that it forgot to pass the refund during pickup. For an agency as popular as AB, poor customer service costs to its reputation than the dollar amount of the banking fees.
I am 100% sure that someone else could have done a better job in a tourist destination as popular as Kota Kinabalu.
