    The Lucknow Residency Tour
We had just completed the most amazing Varanasi tour with Roobaroo and decided to avail their services in Lucknow too! We had taken ‘ The Lucknow Residency Tour’ and Sameer was our guide. Samir was just amazing, he has fantastic knowledge about the history of Lucknow. His commentary brought the ruins of The Residency to life..... he made those three hours at the Residency memorable for us! If we had more time we would have certainly taken the other tours with him! We highly recommend Roobaroo for anyone visiting Lucknow!

    Superb historical insight to Lucknow
We can’t thank Roobaroo walks and Samir our storyteller enough for making our visit to Lucknow so special and memorable. We did two walks with Samir one at the Residency and one through General Kothi and Chattar Manzil a live ASI site and ending with a fabulous meal at Naimat Khana. Each was of 4 hours and it was wonderful to have someone so knowledgable to tell us in depth the story of the people who lived in the Residency and what lead to the first war of independence. There was so much to take in but the setting came alive with the stories and anecdotes. We highly recommend that anyone who wants a real feel for the history of this city should take a walk with Samir.

Samir Kher was our daastan-goh during our visit .His story telling with maps ,paintings and sketches made our trip memorable. The food trail through old city was delicious . The visit to residency and his narration of events of first war of Independence was riveting. I could actually visualize the events unfolding in my mind. The food served for lunch and dinner at old havelis during the trip was authentic Lucknow food and delicious. Worth every rupee we paid for.

All the nuances that our history books do *not* cover!! Amazing experience. History, culture, architecture, food, and fine arts all rolled into one. Some highlights that are my key take-aways: Seeing British Empire's opium depot used in the Opium War - it is still standing! Components of a shayari. Kathak performance. Ganjing - got to see what gets UP yuppies excited! Primacy of Awadh in Indian polity. The absolute best - the Residency - nucleus of the the 1857 Rebellion/Mutiny - got see trenches where this was fought.

"Awadh" as Lucknow was known is a city of untold history and many fascinating cultural stories.
I was grateful that I could be part of the one day customised tour of Roobaroo walks which included the Residency, interesting lanes of Chowk - checking the chikankari, itar, the famous Tunde kebabs and ending it with La Martinere college. Interacting with Samir was an enthralling experience as he unfolded the history pages so creatively with his stories supported with maps and pictures.

I took the walk of Lucknow Residency which was a total eye opener about the role and position of Awadh in the revolution of 1857. Never before did I find a day by day story of war told so creatively. Sameer is highly knowledgeable and can answer with intriguing anecdotes. Totally loved it and highly recommended.

Attended two walks (War Chronicles and Palace Complexes) by Deep Dive India on my recent trip to Lucknow, both the walks were wonderfully curated and very informative.

I have lived in Lucknow for over 10 years and ashamed to admit that I havent explored the city. I believe visiting buildings nd monuments is pointless unless you can place some context to them. And Roobaroo does that beautifully. The Benares walks i had participated in were excellent and my expectations were high. Roobaroo didnot dissappoint. There were so many highlights - the war chronicles whilst walking through the Residency ( Sameer is an informative and pasionate storyteller - donot miss this!), walk through the bylanes of Chowk, Baradari area, Hazratganj, the visit to Bhatkhande and Naimat khana and of course the informal interation with Mr. Bajpai all so beautifully interspersed. Sameer and Aayush you provided such a comprehensive context (historical, political, economic and social context) of the city- its past and present, you made me appreciate and fall in love with city! Thank you.
