See all the major sights in one day
Perfect tour if you want to see all the major sights in one day. Big John is a great tour guide, very insightful and funny. He also made sure we went to the temples at the right time so they weren’t too busy. A well organised tour and the comfy, air conditioned bus which takes you between the temples was very much appreciated in the heat

Mr John was an amazing tour guide. He gave us such great history lessons about Cambodia and the temples. He didn’t rush us at all and would point out the best picture locations. Would definitely recommend a tour with him

Angkor Wat Small Tour — Sunset
Dara was a fantastic tour guide. He provided details about the history of all the temples went went to, he gave us some time to explore at the larger temples with a little less at other small sites, but still enough if you’re quick with the camera. We were on a bit of a schedule in order to get to the final temple of Phnom Bahkeng for the sunset so it makes sense. They provided us with waters after every stop so I was loving that and the lunch break we had filled me up all day. It’s 6:30 now and we’re getting dropped of back at our hostels, time for dinner ✌🏽😛

        Small tour
Dara, excellent guide and explained everything well, with a thorough explanation of the various histories of the temples and the meanings of the temples and statues. Very good value as transport is provided between each of the sites.

        Would recommend!!!
Our tour guide was a really friendly guy and together with the driver they spread a very nice atmosphere. We got everything very well explained and the whole tour was bed well structured and organised. I would definitely recommend it to others. And just as an idea for others: you don’t have to choose the first lunch place, there are more local and cheaper places nearby. But if you like the first more fancy place, it is surely also enjoyable!

A beautiful day on Phnom Kulen
We went to Kulen Mountain and had a very nice Tour guide with us! He explained many things about the local people and the temple and Kulen mountain in general very well! Furthermore, we enjoyed great views from the mountain on the countryside and good food! I really enjoyed the trip and would recommend it!

Really good tour! Highly recommended to know all the history about the Angkor. The guide, "One" was really enthusiastic about it, putting a lot of effort on each explanation of the temples! Also a really good photographer!

We took part in this tour a few days ago. We booked via our hostel ($22 each) for the Floating Village tour which was supposed to visit a floating market, floating school, floating village and mangrove forest. The day of our trip fell on a public holiday so we asked our hostel to ring and ensure things would still be open - we were told they would be. Our departure time was 2.30 (picked up 30 minutes before) and we were told once on the bus it is a 45 minute journey. We didn’t arrive at the boat until 3.40pm. The journey up the river was fine and it was nice to see local families enjoying the public holiday with parties. We arrived at the village and walked not even 100m before the guide told us to stop and come back, we couldn’t go any further. We were allowed 10 minutes on the village road before going back on the boat. We were given no information, there was no school (even if it was closed for public holiday we weren’t shown it) and no floating market at all. After this we went to the mangrove forest - the highlight of the trip. You have to pay an additional $5 each to be rowed through the mangroves by local people but it is worth it and you are helping the local community. If you choose not to do this you go and sit at a restaurant And wait for the rest of the group. After the row boats, we sat at the restaurant for 30 minutes and were invited to look at the “crocodile farm” (a cage with one crocodile in that no one saw because it was underwater). Unfortunately due to bad weather there was no sunset so we went to the estuary of the lake and turned back - we understand that this part is out of anyones control. We headed back to the bus at 17.45.

I got in touch with the company to explain that we were unhappy about the service we received. The manager Dara got in touch the day after and agreed to refund half the amount we paid. I think this review gives an honest picture of the tour and allows customers to make an informed decision before booking.

Initially I was a bit unsure about the idea of visiting the floating village based on some of the reviews I read in other sites. However I decided to join the tour to see and experience for myself. We hopped on the boat (ticket inclusive) which brought us through the floating village along the canal/river. At the point of my visit, the water level is still low so you can still see some of the stilt houses are on land. However, when the water level rises (during wet season), this will change. The boat stops near the pagoda temple for us to disembark and walk around the village on land. We walked past the pagoda and the school towards the village while our guide, Tom, explained to us about the village's condition and history. He also offered us to visit one of the classrooms and interact with the school pupils. As a group however, we decided to give this a pass and so we headed straight back to the boat. We were then brought to a "floating station" where we paid $5 per head to go on a peaceful excursion through the mangrove forest (on a small kayak manoeuvred by a lovely local lady). Afterwards, we were brought to a floating restaurant where we each ordered a refreshing coconut water while waiting for the sunset (around 18:40). The sunset itself was a sight to behold. I was aware that the group on the previous day could not see the sunset as it was cloudy. We were lucky that the weather on that day was clear. Overall, the trip went smoothly, thanks to Tom who helped with everything. He even sponsored us cans of beers for the trip (I don't drink alcohol but we all had a great time during the tour). Would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Siem Reap.

Honestly, this should be 0 stars.

I understand weather and water conditions are out of the hand of the operator. But ...

      1. In the dry season there is NO water. Hence no floating villa.
      2. You walk forever in the heat, water was provided but was worried about drinking to much - as there are no bathrooms for hours ...
      3. This was advertised as a small group tour, however there were over 20 people on the boat. Causing the boat to get stuck to the restaurant and back. They should have used smaller boat.
      4. The "peaceful" boat ride was making people nauseous as we were stuck for 20-30 in the middle of the "lake" with diesel fumes and no air circulation.
      5. Finally at the mediocre restaurant the tour guides kept telling us how "beautiful" the sunset was. It was a sunset, nice but nothing special.
      6. The tour guide helped himself to tastings from different plates from guests - barley asking if it's ok.
      7. Beeing dropped off on the wrong side of a busy street at night we were suddenly asked to pay for the tour. Which had paid for already! This ruined our last evening in siem reap! Finally back in the hotel room, we got an apologetic message that we indeed had paid already (i know that!). To late, you ruined this day already!

In short, this tour might be ok in the wet season, but in the dry season you will be highly disappointed. No idea why this is all 5 star reviews.

If you want to see more in Cambodia than Angkor Wat you should try this Floating village tour.
It’s a great way to see a unique Cambodian way of life around the largest lake in Southeast Asia. The tour will start by pickup at your hotel and after a transfer to a boat near the village you’ll be floating down the main ‘street’ of the village. You are aloud to stand on top of the boat to get a good view of the floating village. You’ll also get a chance to visit the village’s temple and from there (if the season permits it) you’ll walk over the street to the pickup point of the boat. While you walk over the street you’ll see the life of people living in Kampong Phluk.

Next on the tour list is the flooded forrest. For 5 dollar per person you can get on a canoe (max 2 persons) steered by one of the women of the village who will take you through the flooded forrest. A nice and tranquil trip trough the trees lasting approximately 20 minutes. This trip will end at the edge of Tonlé Sap lake on a floating restaurant where the sunset can be seen if the conditions are good.
During the whole trip, except the canoetrip trough flooded forrest, a guide will accompany you.
Our guide Youk is an local and could tell us all the insights of the lives of the people around lake Tonlé sap. In de bus towards the floating village he also told us about Cambodia in general, the main religions and a little bit about Angkor Wat. Youk answerd our questions and new a lot about the floating village and its people.

We booked this tour because of the overwhelmingly good reviews but sadly were left disappointed. We drove to the village and then walked around for half an hour with our guide Tom who told us some interesting facts about how the people live. The village only floats for 6 months of the year so it is dry at the moment - was still interesting to see the houses on big stilts! We then took a 5 minute boat ride to a floating restaurant on a lake and had to wait 1 and a half hours for sunset, and then drove home again. Overall for a 30 minute walk and 5 minute boat ride to a restaurant I'd say this tour is overpriced and could incorporate a bit more! Still, the village is interesting and worth a visit however if you decide to do it :)

Good evening Thanks for your conclusion that the village is worth visiting. The local people are accustomed to visitors as part of their way of life. We value your feedback and will consider how we may have been able to receive a higher rated review from yourself. Please understand that for less than $20 you have a 45-minute travel each way in air-conditioned transport, admission to the floating village, boat rides on Tonle Sap, English-speaking tour guide and chilled bottled water. In wet season, there is also the optional canoe ride in the floating forest for $5 additional cost. Thanks for your time to write us here. Dara Chear, General Manager Angkor Wat Shared Tours

We really enjoyed the “floating village” tour. Our guide was kind and engaging and spoke very good English. The drive through the countryside was beautiful. Everything was well organized. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Siem Reap and wanting to get out of the city for an afternoon to see some of the countryside and one of these unique villages. I would definitely suggesting paying the extra $5/person to do the small boat tour as well.

We had a fantastic evening with Bong Sim on a tour of Kampong Pluk. Tonlé Sap was stunning and seeing it at sunset was breathtaking. Bong Sim was incredibly understanding when our flight was delayed and was very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and he took the time to give a tour of the local area as we drove through Siem Reap. If you are looking for an incredibly happy and knowledgeable guide, we cannot recommend Bong Sim enough.

This was an awesome tour through the floating village of Tonle Sap Lake. Tom our guide went above and beyond to accommodate us from the beginning to the end! The views of the lake were magnificent and the village people were so friendly and children were so happy to see us arrive to the village. The floating restaurant also had very delicious food 👌 I highly recommend this tour and it is great value.
