Good wine is one of the most recognizable symbols of Dalmatia in the world. This Split wine tasting experience gives you the opportunity to experience some authentic Dalmatian wines set among the magical ambiance of the historic Diocletian's Palace. As you taste you'll be led by a sommelier from the Diocletian's Wine House Restaurant, offering an excellent opportunity to expand your gastronomic knowledge and taste Dalmatia "the right way." As the Latin saying goes, "In wine, there is truth" (In vino veritas).
While you are getting acquainted with the oenological heritage of Dalmatia, your slow cooking Dalmatian "Peka" meal will be prepared. Peka is a baked dish made with meat or fish and vegetables, cooked in a pot or a tray. The cooking vessel is put into the embers of a fireplace to warm up. In many houses here in Dalmatia, especially in the countryside, locals have a special place in their barn or at the ground floor of the house for preparing Peka. Baking meat, seafood and veggies under a cooking vessel covered in embers is a unique technique found mostly in Dalmatia.
