- stitchnfix00Can take custom tours tooThis was a custom experience that was cultivated for my group by Kevin. He found a perfect guide Jorge and the experience was EXACTLY what we asked for - it was private and we were all very appreciative and the pricing was good as well
- joanne40201800Panama Canal and Town TourPanama is a beautiful country and it’s history is very interesting. The trip to the canal was awe inspiring. The ingenuity and engineering which goes into the operations of the canal is quite impressive. My tour lasted about 7 hours and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. My tour guide was very knowledgeable and a joy to talk to. In addition to the canal I visited the town Casco Viejo. This is a lovely town whose buildings remind me of New Orleans. I was able to have lunch in town at a delightful restaurant whose food was absolutely delicious. I also visited some cathedrals with beautiful stained glass windows and altars the likes of which I have never seen. The tour also included other sites but the town and the canal are what stood out to me. The tour is both a walking and driving tour and there was so much to see and enjoy. I had no problems booking with Barefoot Panama. My guide was very accommodating and personable. He was on time for the tour and always sought to make me as comfortable as possible and ensure that I was okay. He was the best tour guide I have experienced.
- febericoa00Great experience and family funLoved the experience. You get to navigate through the canal, see and engage with wild(ish) monkeys, and then visit a nearby Embera village. Our son who's 7 really loved it, and we liked the experience too. The giode was great as well! Definitely recommended specially if you are traveling with young kids.
- odilesj100Barefoot Tours/KevinWe did 2 tours with Barefoot - Monkey Island/Panama Canal and San Blas Islands. Communication and planning with Kevin and the tour guides was excellent. The tours were very organised and we were picked up from our apartment on time. On the Monkey Island tour, our tour guide Maty made sure we stopped at several different islands to ensure we saw different species of monkeys and wildlife. He was also very knowledgeable of the area and history. We highly recommended booking tours with Kevin and his team!
- 921StevenB00Not worth the money!!!!!!I was very disappointed with this trip. Wasn't worth the money. Says a full day, but it was really half day and we finished before 12pm. The monkeys were amazing to see, but I can't see where the rest of the money went to make it worthwhile. Wasn't given any food or drinks and we stopped for lunch at a shopping centre on the way back where you paid for your own lunch. That being said, the guide was a wonderful person and definitely enjoyable to be with. Save your money though and do something else or the 1/2 day monkey tour on its own.
- 483shyk00The Barefoot ExperienceI had the luxury of indulging in the Barefoot experience with Gonzo and Jorge on two different excursions! The first only teased my appetite for more adventure. Both tour guides are wells of knowledge and information that will take you as deep as you wish into the history and tales of these attractions. Gonzo was great at getting me comfortable to embrace the love from the monkeys extended. I had never been that close to wild monkeys. The history of the Indian Village was remarkable to say the least, and every inquiry about the canal was addressed. They are both great at spotting camouflaged wildlife for photo ops! Jorge navigated expertly to Valle de Anton for one of the most serene experiences of my life. This special place is beyond photos and words. We warmed up with a short hike to the waterfalls before visiting this extraordinary rock telling its own story. An incredible site you have to see for yourself. I learned about the most unique frogs, and then found myself immersed in a majestic butterfly haven. Much of the Barefoot experience felt like it materialized from a fantastical world and I was touring a wonderland!
- Y8099WWcamillem00An Amazing Experience You Won't Want to MissThis tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Panama. Our tour guide, Gonzo, was extremely knowledgable and made the day fun and exciting. He really went above and beyond. Not only did we get to see a lot of cool things around Panama City, but we also learned a lot about the history of the country. My only regret is that we didn't take a picture with Gonzo! I highly recommend Barefoot Panama.
- David T00A must when going to Panamá cityAmazing. Guide was highly educated & had a great relationship with the indigenous people. Great energy. The stories he would share of the monkeys where hilarious & educational. This was the best part of my trip hands down.
- richardq94000Exceptional, awesome, great, educated, spectacular,........!!!!There is no good enough word to express how exceptional this tour and the tour guide was. Awesome, great, educated, spectacular,.....!!!!! I recommend this tour if you really want to learn and explore the real history and current state of the Panama Canal and the settlers. You have questions about the history of Panama, which I did, you will get it and very well articulated. Well spoken English. Promptness, curtesy, considertate, ...... Once you are done this, then you can go to the Canal Visitor center for the IMAX.
- TravelingRothman00Ganzo was an awesome tour guide! The tour was great.Ganzo was an awesome tour guide! We learned a lot from him and had a great overall experience. The monkeys were adorable and the Indigenous village was fascinating and eye-opening.
- neald5800Beach down timeSonny island resort Very nice little island. Great for a couple of days of very quiet relaxation. Friendly staff. When we were there there were only about 7 or 8 guests so it was very private. Right off shore there were several whales with babies. There are few extra activities. This is fine if you can be happy with a beautiful setting and a warm ocean to swim in. You are limited to their food hall which is nutritious but not inspiring. Bottom line I would go back for a couple of days. Barefoot Panama put his together at for us the day before we went.
- N3670TCmarilync00Don’t hesitate and get this tour.Amazing experience! I definitely recommend this tour. It took us around 6 hours but it was all worth it. Be prepared and pack the right gear in case of rain. Our guide Gonzo was so nice and made us all feel comfortable and happy.
- latrice1mi00AwesomeThis was an amazing tour got to see 3 species of monkeys, learned a lot about Panama and completely enjoyed the native experience. This was a great educational experience for our kids and us as a family. Gustavo was an amazing tour guide as well.
- benjaminfO3592OA00Monkey Island, Isla Taboga, Caribbean, and Lake Bayano Cave ToursMonkey Island Tour: It was lovely to have transportation provided with pick up and drop off and our tour guide, Gonzo, was thoroughly educational covering a wide range of topics and willingly answered variety of questions from different family members. The boat portion was lovely as we did have cover from the sun as we went through the Panama Canal and perused islands on Lake Gatun in search of wildlife. We saw a variety of monkeys, birds, caymans, and bats. The Indian village life was educational and the hike was interesting as we learned about the flora and fauna. I would recommend bug spray. Isla Taboga Tour: The marina was easy to find and the ferry ride to the island was a family favorite! Watching the birds, dolphins, and observing the boats waiting for their turn on the Panama Canal was fascinating. The 1-hour tour with Brian was fascinating and informative, as he is a full-time resident of the island and was born there. He patiently answered our questions and showed us all the opportunities that awaited us on the island. The local lunch was incredible, as nothing was left on our plates! The drinks in the local pineapples were delicious and we have never tasted pineapple so good! The water was warm and pleasant to swim in. We were unable to snorkel or use the kayaks, since the tide was our during our time on the island, but that didn't prevent us from having a wonderful time! This was a relaxing tour and we would do it again! Caribbean Tour: Snorkeling and Zip Lines The convenience of transportation provided is a plus, which gives us time to enjoy the scenery and ask questions about the area. It was a lovely boat ride to both snorkeling locations. However, the first location had some cloudy water due to the rain from the previous day, but we were still able to see plenty of fish, including a school of fish, at the reef. The second location was much clearer and we also saw a sea urchin and a sloth in a tree! Lunch at the local restaurant was delicious and the fruit juices are worth treating ourselves! The zip lines were amazing with tall heights and long distances. It gives you ample time to look around and soak up the views! Lake Bayano Cave Tour: The transportation via the van and the boat was amazing. We simply enjoyed not having to think our way to the different locations. We saw many different species of wildlife on the way to the caves. The caves were awesome! Be prepared to get wet from the chest down and wear solid shoes. Navigating the rocks in the river can be tricky. We observed a cayman up close, a poison dart frog, spiders, fish, and bats! Not for the faint of heart. The watering hole at the end was a treat to experience before making our way back. Lunch was delightful and delicious white fish caught in the lake that morning along with friend plantains. Yum! It was our tour guides first time giving this tour and he did an amazing job. Upon returning, we were able to watch sleeper plants react to touch, my kids were able to kayak, and we gathered some mangos from a tree in the area. Do eat a larger breakfast than normal and bring a waterproof bag if you plan to take anything into the cave. All in all, we loved all four of these experiences. Each tour met different expectations and desires for all the people in our family. No regrets!
- carter133300An amazing sampling experience that makes you feel like a local! After reading the description (😉) the tour provides everything it says and even a little more! It was so fun walking through Casco Viejo, learning, drinking, and tasting everything that Panama has to offer! Nicole did such a good job not only leading the tour and conveying her knowledge but also promoting an exceptional atmosphere! It really felt like you were a part of Panamanian culture and everyone left as friends! Thanks, Nicole and Barefoot Panama Tours!

Panama City & Canal Tour. I just had the most impressive tour of Panama City (the canal, the site of the first city, Casco Viejo, Amador Causeway, and local arts and crafts) provided by Barefoot Panama Tours. The guide, Gonzo, spoke excellent English and was exceptionally knowledgeable, pleasant, and accommodating. A great way to spend a full day in Panama City.

Jorge was a great guide. He spoke both English and Spanish. I was one of only 3 on the tour (Max 8 I believe). Jorge had the app to know when to expect a ship in the canal so he customized our tour around that and we saw everything else based on getting to the canal dock in time to see a ship pass and see the lock system at work. Quite a spectacle.

We visited Colon, Panama on a Cruise January 1, 2020. We used Barefoot Panama in the past and contacted Kevin again before this visit. They are an amazing company...great communication, great service. Last year we did the Locks (Panama Canal) and eco tour. This year we decided to go to Panama City. Juan was our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Panama, the canal, and the areas we traveled through. He got out, walked around, took pictures and he was able to answer all the questions we had. If you are going to Panama, use this company!! Great overall experience A++++

Kevin went out of his way to make sure that I made the most of my one day in Panama City. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Panama City and made the walking tour of the old town fascinating. The tour included the other things I wanted to see - the Amador Causeway and of course the canal. He is obviously very experienced and knows how to organize a tour to optimize the group's time.

Isaac is an excellent guide! It's the perfect introduction to Panama City since it was our first time there. From the tour of the locks, bridges and the canal to the Fish and Butcher's Markets, Amador, and Casco Viejo, it gave us a good idea of the layout of the city and where to first good restaurants and markets. We ended having lunch at the Marina before Isaac drove us back to the hotel. It was a great tour!

Small tour of 3. Guide was on time at hotel. Amazingly she spoke in English and French! She shared information about the areas we traveled through, the history of Panama and the Canal.she was always open to questions. Saw so much and shared a delicious lunch not included. I am glad I spent a day on the tour as I tell people about the things I learned.

A very comprehensive tour between the Panama Canal, Nature Center, and Old Panama City. Honestly, I think Jorge made the tour 5 stars. He was just really informative, respectful, and professional. I learned more than I expected about Panama - more than what I am sure was planned for the tour. Take this tour with Jorge!

Nick was very knowledgeable, customized the tour to our needs, supported local by bringing us to local markets and restaurants, and gave us tons of helpful tips and recommendations.
If you are a history buff, Nick will have more than enough info for you! He also got us in a little early at our panama canal visit. This tour started at 8am and finished around 2:30pm, which was the perfect length in our opinion. If you lingered more at some stops, you could definitely stretch it, though.

They pick you up from the hotel on time. Shaun was our guide and driver. He explained all aspects of miraflores panama canal, the causeway where we had lunch. He took us to the Smithsonian wild life reserve. Tickets are included. The walking trip in casco viejo was the last trip. He didnt rush anyone. Though his passion for geisha coffee is quite interesting.

Does the tour arrive in time to the Miraflores locks to see the ships pass through?

Yes, we did arrive to see ships passing through the locks. I am not sure if they can time it though, it kinda depends on where the ships are at what time.
Hi,
We are interested in this tour but being senior citizens, we would like to know if there are a lot of walking involved.
Thank you.
