An informative introduction to the city
Aug 2017 • Friends
I had a private tour of Panama City - visited the old city (Casco Viejo), tried on a Panama hat, went over the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal via the Bridge of the Americas road bridge, to Causeway Islands (four small islands by the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal, via a causeway made from rock extracted during the excavations from the Panama Canal), and saw ships pass through the Panama Canal (Miraflores double locks - an awe-inspiring engineering marvel).

Pros:
-Pickup/drop off at hotel.
-Knowledgeable English speaking guide/driver: Miguel.
-Skilful driver.

Cons:
-None I can think of.

Half day tour loaded with information about the canal and old/ new parts of city
Mar 2017 • Couples
Excellent guide- Miguel. Picked us up at hotel and accompanied us through the Miraflores Locks museum. Our personal guide moved us through the areas to avoid the crowds and xplained everything to us. Then back in the private van for tour of old US buildings / new areas and then on to the charming "old city". We only had a short time in Panama City but we felt we had seen a lot . We were dropped back at our hotel with a lunch recommendation- great food. Tour was money well spent

Fantastic 3 Nights and Days in Panama City and Vicinity
Mar 2017 • Couples
Our 3 nights and days in Panama City and vicinity, followed an Un Cruise Safare Voyager cruise along the west coast of Costa Rica and through the Panama Canal. Our timne in Panama was planned by Lorena Amador, from Panama Trails affiliate, Costa Rican Trails, in San Jose, Costa Rica. Lorena's planning and execution of the Panama portion of our journey, was unparralled. On her recommendation, we stayed 3 nights at Las Clementinas Hotel in Casco Antiguo section of Old Panama City. This small botique hotel was a unique find. Staff was very accommodating of my wife's mobility challenges, locating us on the first level, with easy access and providing us with early morning carry brakfast boxes, for our early excursions. Our personal driver and quide Luis, was quite knowledgeable of the old city. He took us on a morning walking trip, nice and slow, given my wife's physical limitations. We thoroughly enjoyed the major sites in Casco Antiguo, including stopping for coffee at the top coffee shop in the city. He walked back to pick up the van, and then took us for a wonderful visit to the Bio Muso Museum. This is an exceptionally well designed and interesting display of Panamanian ecological and geological history. Hhe even secured a wheelchair, which made the visit more meaningful.
The next day, our driver and guide, Carlos, met us at the hotel at 6:15 am. He drove us to the Panama Canal Railway Station where we boarded the train for the one hour trip to Colon. What an interesting perspective on the canal and Gatun Lake and surrounding jungle. We were met in Colon, by Carlos, who drove us to the new Agua Clara Locks Visitor Center, where we got a wonderful view of the new wider locks and the more efficient locks complex. After that, Carlos took us into the jungle north of t he canal, where we were met by two loin clothed young lads, who took us on a half hour dugout canoe journey to the Embera Quera indiginous village. The 2-3 hour visit was the highlight of our time in Costa Rica/Panama. We were warmly greeted by villagers; met by the young chief; fed on fresh fruit, plantains and tilapia; taken on a visit to their school; given an opportunity to shop for handicrafts; and, treated to a music and dance performance in the round house, including a chance to dance with villagers. It was so hard to leave this welcoming community. We can't recommend Coista Rican/Panama ?T?rails organization moore highly.

Made my trip so easy and fun!
Dec 2015 • Friends
I have used Panama Trails for two trips to Panama. The first, I was a solo traveler and my first visit back to Panama in almost 30 years. This most recent time, I was with a friend. I've taken a lot of their tours and used them for airport transfers and hotel reservations. I've been with different guides and all them were so friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. Lorena made the reservation process simple & easy and answered all of my questions quickly. It was awesome to have personal guides to take us around different parts of Panama - I learned a lot and had a lot of fun.

Family day tour of the Panama locks
Sep 2015 • Family
This was a private day tour of the Miraflores locks with a pick up from our city hotel and a transfer to the Gamboa Rainforest. Luis or guide knew a great deal about everything locally and had impressive knowledge of the locks themselves. He was obviously known to a lot of the staff at the locks too. The Locks, the museum and the venue were themselves fascinating with their history. They were also digging out the channel to widen the locks which was in plain view. A great tour if in the vicinity

Could have been better.
Mar 2015 • Friends
We used Panama Trails on two consecutive days. We had 2 different guides. The one we had on the first day did not know much. His reply to almost everything we asked him was that he had forgotten. The info he gave us was no more than what was written on the signs, that we could read for ourselves.
But, the worst of all he spent the whole day on his cell phone texting, EVEN THE WHOLE TIME THAT HE WAS DRIVING AS WELL. He constantly had one hand on his cell phone while driving!

Efficent, knowedgeable, helpful and friendly people
Dec 2013 • Friends
I used Costa Rican Trails to arrange a Costa Rica vacation three years earlier and their service and attention to details was so great that I did not hesitate to use their Panama Trails counterpart. They recommended great places that fit into our budget. All airport pickups, local air flight arrangements went on without a hitch. We were helped by two drivers/guides during the trip, Chris and Arsenio. Both of them spoke beautiful English and were very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. They did not hurry us and made excellent suggestions regarding restaurants, places to go, etc. We enjoyed their company too. When we got picked up at the airport I mentioned that I was concerned about being in contact with someone at home who was ill. Chris heard this and suggested that I buy an inexpensive unlocked phone and sim card. I had no experience using either of them. He made a quick stop and I had a phone in five minutes and it made me feel so much better having the phone. He knew a lot about nature and was so informative when we went to Valle de Anton. Antonio was equally helpful and when we took the tour of the canal and went to the Miraflores Center we were very impressed with his knowledge. The two of them definitely helped make the trip easier and more memorable. I like the efficiency of this company and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I worked with David making the initial arrangements for both trips. He was patient and helpful and didn't seem bothered by my numerous emails. He made good suggestions and was very efficient.

Should have been a lot better
Nov 2013 • Couples
We had a private day tour just for the two of us by this company. Started late and finished early. We saw the major highlights but we felt there were other things we left such as views from the high point in Panama City . The guide was just knowledgeable and could have been better. Would recommend you research the city and set part of the agenda yourself. To give him credit we did ask to see the local fish markets which he obliged and we found interesting. Our point is this could be better for the same time spent

Finding My Roots in Panama
Jul 2013 • Friends
Since I am the first American born in my family it was important to me to see from where my ancestors came. Panama Trails offered a wonderful 6 days-5 nights at first rate hotels including breakfast & tours at an extremely reasonable price. After doing some research into flying solo , getting a cab to & from various hotels & returning to the airport, tours & meals, I would highly recommend this package deal. Our driver met us at the airport & drove us to the Gamboa Rainforest Hotel. This is an experience like no other. Unimaginable wildlife. Tours on the Chagres River & Gatun lake revealed caymans, capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, turtles & an assortment of birds. Leaving the Rainforest & arriving at the Intercontinental Playa Bonita revealed an awesome view of the Pacific Ocean. Seeing the operation of the Panama Canal locks was impressive. Visiting el Casco Viejo (old Panama) was stepping into history. Our tour guide, Max insured our safety and was extremely knowledgeable of all things Panama. I loved every minute of this trip & will return again for and deeper tour of the inner city in Colon, Service was excellent, everyone was courteous and special attention was given to details. These folks work hard at what they do. No matter how many times I called Lorena at Panama Trails or emailed her, she always responded promptly & laid all my fears & anxieties to rest.

The best we could expect
Jul 2013 • Family
Our guides Louis and Roberto were absolutely amazing. They were punctual, patient and professional. We were delayed at the airport and were greeted with a helpful Louis. The vouchers were correct and and info package was very helpful. The day tour we took through Panama City was very informative and personalized just for us. Roberto knew exactly how much time to spend at each area and was able to relate each stop to our kids aged 11 and 9. Would recommend to everyone!
