- 580sallyr0 contributionsAwesome views and really enjoy learning about El Salvador on the wayJosue was a great tour guide. He messaged me the day before with all the details. Was on time and everything went smoothly getting there. There was very little traffic being a Saturday, which was great. He told us lots of very interesting things about El Salvador which was broken down and easy to understand. This was fantastic and he clearly knows a lot and is passionate about the countries history. The hike itself was great, the first half in in the shade and second half sunscreen very much needed. I'm so so happy we went early because the crowds came when we were at the top. Josue also did a great job handling the difference between walking paces in our group. I'm very happy we made it to the top and it wasn't shut due to winds. The view at the top was awesome!! Well worth the hike. The lunch was nice but I could take or leave that part, unless wanting to do water sports. Thank you very much,Josue for sharing great information about your country!Written January 13, 2025
- ChuckyD200 contributionsPerfect day of hiking and seeing breath taking viewsHad a great day hiking up the volcano and could not have had a better guide than Gaby. Great historical knowledge as well as keeping us on the path. The views from the top were incredible and pictures do not due the caldera justice. It is huge and definitely worth the climb up. would recommend to anyone visiting the country and looking for a great workout as well.Written January 13, 2025
- rosiew8590 contributionsWorth it.My husband and I visited in September 2024. It was super hot but worth the visit. We leaned so much about the country and its history.Written January 12, 2025
- 173gladysm0 contributionsA Must-Do Experience in El SalvadorWe had an amazing time thanks to our wonderful tour guide Josué. Josué picked us up right on time and made sure to pace our day so that we have enough time to do everything . Josué did a wonderful job of explaining some key topics of El Salvador’s rich history as well as the volcanoes in this area. Josué’s professionalism, intelligence, and easy -going personality made this experience truly wonderful. We will be recommending these tours to friends and family . Thank you Josué!Written January 11, 2025

- caseyf9920 contributions⚠️Not your typical hikeOur tour guide, Gaby, picked us up from the hotel right on time at 8 AM. With just three people in our group, it felt personal and relaxed. Gaby was not only a skilled driver but also shared a wealth of knowledge about El Salvador’s history. After about an hour’s drive from San Salvador, we arrived at Tamanique. The hike is definitely not for the faint of heart! The easy part was the descent to the waterfalls, which involved a steep, winding trail down the mountain for about two miles. Jumping into the refreshing cold water was the perfect way to cool off, and we enjoyed a relaxing break for about 2 hours starting the challenging climb back up. The uphill trek was tough, but we took it slow and steady, eventually reaching another waterfall where we paused to enjoy the cool mist. Once we got back into town, we treated ourselves to a delicious homemade sorbet (Minutas y Licuados) for just $1—a perfect little refreshment! Next, we drove to Playa El Tunco, where we had two hours to grab a bite to eat and soak up the sun and surf before heading back. A huge thank you to Gaby for making the day unforgettable!Written January 6, 2025
- DayTrip591336678530 contributionsThe Perlman's New Year 2025 tripGaby was an excellent tour guide. Her knowledge of the history of the Ruta de las Flores was impressive; I learned so much and was very satisfied. My husband was also delighted to have her as our guide because her English is perfect, and he doesn't speak Spanish at all—well, just a little. She was able to adjust our itinerary to visit the San Agustín coffee plantation instead of the Café Albania, which we are both very grateful for. Learning about the coffee process from bean to cup gave us a much better understanding and appreciation for that daily cup of coffee that starts our day. The Santa Teresa Termales were fantastic specially the mud treatment and the hot pools. Diego our driver was fantastic, we felt very safe. Definitely we will use this Tour company again.Written January 4, 2025
- shaynam20250 contributions10/10 Hike!Had the best time hiking Santa Ana Volcano with Josúe and Diego! They were on time, SUPER friendly, and made the whole experience so much fun :) They gave clear info along the way, timed our hike perfectly to avoid all the crowds, and even took some amazing photos that I will always cherish!!! I also loved chatting with them throughout the hike—they’re both very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. 10/10 recommend if you’re planning to do this hike! THANK YOU, Josúe and Diego!Written January 3, 2025

- Escape266990416810 contributionsGreat experience with the best guideIt was a long drive however the experience of seeing the ruins was really worth it! So much to imagine about the Maya civilization at Copan after the tour. Josue our guide made the experience really enjoyable - he scheduled pickups really early to avoid the new year crowd at immigration, made adequate stops along the way for food and restrooms, helped ensure we had a smooth customs process, drove really safely along the long drive and we had a lot of banter along the way too. I would highly recommend the tour with JosueWritten December 31, 2024
- Escape266990416810 contributionsReally fun tourI had an amazing tour with Josue - the tour was well paced and really fun, with what to expect of the tour clearly laid out at the start. We also learn a bit more about the country along the tour. I would highly recommend going with Josue!!Written December 31, 2024

- coletond20240 contributionsSanta Ana and Lake Coatepeque TourThis was truly an unforgettable experience. We were picked up from our Air BnB early in the morning prior to stopping for a quick breakfast. The views of the region were absolutely stunning on the drive and on the hike. Although the hike is seemingly challenging initially, once you get to the top it makes the trek 100% worth it. We ended our day at the lake where we had a tremendous lunch and even had time to ride some jet skis with locals. Our tour guide, Francis, was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the country’s rich history and culture. This is an all-day adventure, but I would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone visiting El Salvador!Written December 27, 2024

Francis was an outstanding guide! He did a phenomenal job of leading an enjoyable and informative full day tour of Maya sites throughout El Salvador. If you are at all interested in learning more about the history and culture of El Salvador, and particularly of the Maya and indigenous communities, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. And make sure to ask Francis plenty of questions along the way because he does a masterful job of answering them!

We had a great time! Our guide, Antonio, was very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the things he showed us, and we enjoyed our tour very much and learnt a lot. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions we weren't able to get close to Santa Ana volcano, so check the forecast before booking! (We were also kinda sad because the day we initially booked the tour for was sunny and perfect but it had to be rescheduled because there weren't enough people who signed up). But we had a good view of the volcano and Coatepeque Lake beneath it while having lunch (very inexpensive and delicious!) Overall, an amazing experience, I highly recommend!!

Josue is an amazing tour guide. He was very patient and made sure we had the optimal experience. He has a witty sense of humor and is mutable. I honestly don't think our group could've had a better time without his input and timing suggestions. We had a full and memorable experience from the history of El Salvador paired with Mayan and volcano knowledge to a full city tour to a mesmerizing volcanoes and lake experience with jet skis. Our group will remember this day for years to come. When we come back he'll be our tour guide again! Thank you again Josue! Mucho gusto!

This trip has been absolutely fascinating! Visiting two incredible Mayan sites in one day—Joya de Cerén and Tazumal—was an unforgettable experience. At Joya de Cerén, walking through the remarkably preserved remains of daily Mayan life felt like stepping back in time. It’s amazing to think that this “Pompeii of the Americas” gives us such a vivid snapshot of how ordinary people lived centuries ago. Then at Tazumal, the towering pyramids and intricate ruins told a completely different story—one of power, ceremony, and the architectural brilliance of the Mayan civilization.
What made the day even better was Gabriel, our tour guide. He’s such an interesting and engaging person, full of knowledge and enthusiasm. He knows the history inside and out, but what really stood out was the way he told it—so clear and easy to understand, even for someone like me who isn’t a history expert. He has this knack for turning facts into stories that really bring the past to life. And it’s not just that he’s knowledgeable—his joyful personality and sense of humor made the entire experience so much more enjoyable. It felt like more than just a tour; it was like exploring history with a friend who truly loves what he does.

This was my second tour through the beautiful western part of El Salvador. La Joya de Ceren is an unique site as they have found relatively intact Mayan structures that give a glimpse into the daily life of the inhabitants. Santa Ana is a nice colonial city with a lovely central plaza. The tour then takes you to Tazumal, a Mayan site with architecture allegedly inspired from that of Teotihuacan, located in a verdant park. Lunch with panoramic views of the volcanic lake of Coatepeque. A lovely and relaxed trip with an excellent guide (Francis). Highly recommended.
