Overview
Explore Chernobyl without the distractions or restrictions of a group tour on this private tour from Kiev. Travel by private minivan and view the must-sees with the undivided attention of your guide: freeing you to ask what you want about the 1986 nuclear accident. Explore abandoned Pripyat and Chernobyl, view the Red Forest and reactor 4, and more. The flexible itinerary means you can tailor your day around you.
What to Expect
Meet your guide at your Kiev hotel or Kiev railway station and travel by private air-conditioned minivan to Chernobyl.

On route, hear about the 26 April 1986 Chernobyl accident, when the nuclear plant’s reactor 4 released radiation into the atmosphere. Learn how the area was devastated and the towns of Chernobyl and Pripyat evacuated.

Enter the 18.6-mile (30-kilometer) zone and pass the derelict villages of Zalissja and Kopachi—the latter deliberately buried to reduce contamination. Stop at the decontaminated Red Forest and Pripyat to see its decaying buildings and amusement park.

View the reactor 4, encased in a concrete ‘sarcophagus,’ from a distance, and check out the mysterious Soviet-era Duga-1 over-the-horizon radar system.

Finally, head into Chernobyl town. See the monument to Chernobyl’s firefighters who rushed to the scene, and view the fire station and abandoned decontaminating vehicles.

Your tour then ends at the original departure point.

Nice trip, but to many participants

The trip to Chernobyl was really interesting, and the guide was very good. We would however have preferred to travel with a minor group - we were 13 people with one guide. Also the trip was a bit to long. It lasted 13 hours, including...More
