Our first time in the region. The guide was on time, the van/bus was comfortable. They made stops for restrooms. Make sure to bring local currency to pay for the entrances, lunch and to purchase little gifts, not all stores accept credit card. The guide, Rodika, was very informative. The monastery was interesting, and the fortress was impressive. We had a great time.

Fabulous trip over the border. Our guide Dan from Christina tours was excellent. We explored the monastery in the rocks, Arbanasi village, Veliko Tărnovo town and fortress and had a delicious meal in Shtastliveca restaurant.

It was a fantastic tour and something unexpected that happened to us was the most memorable part of it. Due to road work, we made a detour to reach the rock church and at one point we ended up in a Roma village in the middle of nowhere! The bus barely made it across these rugged tracks, and at some point we were facing a fully loaded horse-drawn carriage on a narrow pathway! Our guide ably manoeuvred us out of there and gained an applause from us. I very much liked our guide, he was systematic, punctual and experienced and the conversations with him about history and modern times were eye-opening.

The tour I had on 16/2/20 was good, but part of the advertised itinerary, we did not do. We did not go to Arbanasi, nor were told why. We did stop at an overlook and were told a small bit about it, but were just told that it was the best vantage point for a photo. I thought it was just a stop for photos; all part of the tour. We loaded up the van after Veliko Tarnovo and I thought we were headed to Arbanasi, but after a few minutes, we were told that we were heading back to Bucharest with no explanation.

We did lose a little time in the morning, as we had to return to a hostel for one of the guests passports, and a little more time at customs upon entry because another guest had an issue with his passport (he was in the military, stationed in Romania, not his fault), but I was still expecting to go to Arbanasi. The part of the tour was just omitted.

Also, tour guides are not allowed to go with you on a tour, per Bulgarian law. I had several questions and forgot most of them by the time I got back to the van and saw the guide again. Had I known that the guide would not be with me the whole time, I would not have booked this tour. It wound up costing me over 100 USD and I do not feel that I got my monies worth.

The driver was very good and I know the guide and the driver split tips. I even gave a tip to them, but it was more for the driving and for the sights than the information and lack of visiting one place. I have informed Expedia regarding this situation, as well.

I see this tour advertised with and without Arbanasi, but the one advertised "without Arbanasi" still mentions it.

This is a long day and a lot of walking and climbing. I am disabled, but still managed to to do the whole thing without inconveniencing any of my fellow guests. Just know this in advance, if you are handicapped. I was quite proud of myself!

Dear Customer, Thank you for dedicating some time for providing the review. We are sorry to find out that the tour did not meet your expectations entirely. Please, allow us to explain the situation. Concerning the Arbanasi village, please, note that it is a really small place dating back to medieval times. All the houses there are private and tourists are not allowed to enter inside. For this reason, our stop there is short just for checking houses from the outside and taking photos. It is true, that sometimes our guides are not allowed to enter the highlights in Bulgaria. It is not always the case, but occasionally, the local authorities forbid entry for the guides. In case that happens, our guides provide all the information before entering the highlight and are ready to answer any questions after your visit. We thank you for your comments and will definitely take them into account for improving the quality of services. Kind regards,

Fabulous! Christy was very knowledgeable, practical and adaptable. His personality is very pleasant and he was willing to share all information. His English is perfect - he understood our fast-talking American English and slang flawlessly. The tour itself was well organized and a good sample of Bulgaria in a short amount of time.

The driver left without me though i waited as agreed. I phoned at the pickup time and I was told to wait. The driver claims she phoned but no calls on my phone. She blamed me for her mistake. Maybe its for the best, i didnt go.

Arrived in Bucharest and decided to do tours till our river cruise started.. chose this one based on reviews and we’re not disappointed . Rodica was excellent guide, talking not only Bulgarian history but also Romanian. Choices of attractions and restaurants and nonstop history lessons were most appreciated Keep up the great work Rodica!!

Booked 2 full day tours with Mr Tripp. Paid in local currency at their Bucharest office.
Thoroughly enjoyed both tours - clean , comfortable vehicles and both guides spoke excellent English.
Pick up and Drop off at the Sheraton Hotel.
Especially enjoyed the tour to Bulgaria with Rodica. 6 passengers in a 7 seat Mercedes van. It was a long day for the driver, who kept a sensible speed.
Very impressed with Romania and now Air Canada is offering non-stop flights from Toronto, will likely return to do other full day tours with Mr Tripp

I think we were lucky as no one else booked that day’s tour to Bulgaria. Being a private tour we had some flexibility to add and drop sites to better suit our taste. Our guide, Mary made sure our wishes (within reason) were met. Communication and booking was easy and straightforward, and we would use them again.

My tour guide/driver was great. The tour was fun and I got some great photos. There's quite a bit of uneven walking, stairs and uphill walks, so I would not necessarily recommend this for people with any physical issues or for younger children. The drive didn't feel particularly long, but there was a bit of traffic when we came back. My tour was really small. I was only three of us plus the driver/guide so that was really nice.
