This is the only reasonable way to get to see your "bucket list" site
Mar 2020
It is possible to trek into the site, but for most people the train is the option. The trip is about an hour and one half and is wonderful. There is so much to see on the trip that you would like the train tp go slower! For most of the ride, the river will be in clear view, but the mountain views are really spectacular.

With this global Covid 19 outbreak and the overseas travel restriction from our Canadian Government, we have to cancel our trip to Peru, but the tour price that we already paid online is not refundable. Please re-consider to refund our money to the same credit card. Your service will display your company reputation.

If you can, go! It is more amazing than you thought it would be. The small town that supports it is fun, traveling there is interesting. I can't complain about any aspect of this visit other than, be ready to hike!

Trip of a lifetime
May 2019 • Friends
The whole process can be a bit confusing so happy to write out our experience.

We arrived at Machu Picchu at the time given on our ticket and went straight to the site to climb Machu Picchu mountain. Climb is about 1.5 hours to the top. Had to wait about an hour for fog to clear as we went up quite early.

Afterwards went down and left the site to find a guide (checking first with the guards that we would be allowed to reenter - apparently if you have a mountain climbing ticket you can reenter up to 6 hours after entering the first time)

Found a guide and then went back in with her to tour the site and ruins.

Could not recommend our guide more highly. Fanny (WhatsApp number +51948449613) was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and fair - she went overtime by about an hour without extra charge as we were enjoying her explanations and took longer to complete the tour. Answered all our questions with a great depth of knowledge.
We took the tour in English - her English is exceptional and she also speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian!

Machu Picchu, the citadel in the sky
Apr 2019 • Couples
Purchasing tickets to Machu Picchu can be a bit confusing. Remember to buy your tickets on-line in advance of your visit. We requested our tickets online and then you have a few hours to do the purchase. We then had to scan a copy of our passport to them. All tickets have to match the name on the passport that you’ll use to travel. I’ll explain: There are tickets for the Machu Picchu citadel ONLY (this you need a tour guide or else you’re just walking around and not know the history behind it – you do not climb mountains with this ticket). There are guides outside offering their service for this tour for a fee. Then there’s a ticket for the Machu Picchu citadel + the Wayna Picchu mountain climb (this ticket gives you entrance to the citadel & to climb this mountain). This ticket does not give you entrance to climb the other mountain, the Machu Picchu mountain. For that you have to buy the ticket that says Machu Picchu citadel + Machu Picchu mountain. You cannot buy tickets for just the mountains. Guides are only needed for the citadel. The mountain climbing is done on your own. You absolutely cannot be afraid of heights, and the climb is very steep. Please note that once you enter the Machu Picchu citadel, and if you’re going to climb one of the mountains, there is another entrance zone to those mountains that you must reach within the time stated on your ticket. They keep a log of who climbs and then you sign again when you descend. Also know that Wayna or Huayna (is the same mountain just spelled differently). The maximum capacity of visitors is 400 per day, divided into two groups of 200 people according to the times indicated. If no ticket is available for the Wayne Picchu climb you can go for the opposite mountain, the Machu Picchu mountain, but I understand it takes longer to climb and it’s higher, but the view is just as beautiful of the citadel. We had rain so ascending & descending the Wayna Picchu mountain was just as hard. I understand the best time is June, July & August which is dry season, but also high peak season. Work on your cardio because you will need it!!! Machu Picchu sits at a lower elevation (close to 8,000 feet above sea level) than the city of Cusco which is close to 11,000 feet above sea level. I highly recommend buying an oxygen can at the airport or pharmacy. One inhale & we felt brand new when we felt out of breath; or when I felt that I was about to get a headache; or felt car sick due to their bumpy & curvy roads. The oxygen can also help if you do the Cusco tour, and Sacred Valley sites which is a must! We are very happy we finally got to see with our own eyes one of the seven wonders of the world! Machu Picchu, the citadel in the sky is unbelievable and very beautiful!!!

The tickets lets you coming no more than twice. You can walk the first round with guide who you can hire in front of the entrance and then go for a trail to make such wanted photo. Do not forget to buy tickets to the bus unless you feel like walking for a couple of hours. A must see
