Incredible experience for an excellent value!
Dec 2019
We did A LOT of research before booking this trek and were more than satisfied with our experience. Prior to booking we used WhatsApp (plus one phone call) to ask tons of questions and Ruth always responded immediately. (As a side note, I had a medicine that needed to be kept cold and Ruth kept it safe for me in her own personal fridge at home). We stayed in Conde House (their hostel) the night before the trek which made it really easy for our morning pickup, and our guide Carlos met us there the night before to go over logistics. The hostel is decent at best, but worth it for 1 night for the convenience. I cannot say enough good things about our guide, Carlos. He's enthusiastic, energetic, organized, focused and on top of every single detail. For us, there were no surprise extra charges. He told us before the trek when we would need to pay for a bus ride (10 soles) and for baggage transfer one day (5 soles). We also needed to buy water a couple times (8 soles) but we didn't mind at all due to the reasonable price of this trek compared to others. We opted not to do zip lining which was no problem at all. Carlos picked us up from the hostel when the group was done. I highly recommend the hot springs, they are very clean and relaxing, worth it! In the rainy season, be ready to be wet and muddy, but for us it was nice having less crowds and mosquitos. I could have used warmer gloves because my hands got quite chilly, otherwise I was fine with pants, long sleeves and rain jacket. Bring a warm fleece for evening. The food was excellent the entire time, they even serve snacks before dinner with popcorn, cookies, and tea. We made great memories and have incredible pictures to treasure!

Salkantay Trek with Conde Travel
Oct 2019 • Business
The actual trek was good. Howncan you go wrong hiking in the Andes and visiting Machu Picchu. They fed us a ton and the food was good. Tent mats (2 nights) were thin and not comfortable, hostels (2 nights) were private rooms with private baths- better then expected. The three stars is due to poor communication and poor prepping of expectations. This caused some discomfort and disappointment the was unnecessary. First, I was contacted via what’s app text after booking which was great. But after the Initial contact there was no more response. I texted three times asking for a packing list prior to leaving my home and never got a response. I did not know what to bring, how cold it would be etc. once in Peru prior to trek I met with a rep about the trip (they do this for everyone). I opted not to do the “tourist trap” options of hot springs and zip lining. I was there to hike the Andes not do Disneyland gimmicks. I knew I would walk 10k extra in not zip lining but they never told me it would be on my own without a guide walking down a narrows dirt road with tour busses. I expected to walk on a trail with guide. They also did not tell anyone that the bag service ended after day 3. The mules carried your extra belongings only 3 days. The last two day YOU have to carry it all or pay someone to take it to the next stop. So I carried (lucky for me I had the right backpack that could expand) 35# 20k on day 4. Why didn’t I pay a few soles to have someone take it for me? Well I didn’t have enough cash. I asked about what I needed money for and they said snacks and water and 1-2 meals on our own. I asked if we could fill water bottles at camp and night and he said sure. Water at camp was for tea not filling 2 liters of water bottles per person in the group. You have to buy bottled water daily, you have to buy or bring your own toilet paper, you are expected to tip your staff (2cooks, mule porter guy, guide), you should have money to pay to send your bags on day 3&4. I had no idea about these extras and not taken all that into account and ran out of money. There is not money exchange options until day 4 and then the rates are awful. They were a lot of incidental expenses that popped up I had no idea about- I expected an all inclusive trek. Though none of the expenses was huge, they all added up. There were more things that I did not list including paying for a bus up and down at Machu Picchu if you do not hike it. On the 7 hour bus ride home there was not an option to get dinner. We stopped once for bathrooms and there was a place for snacks but not real food. So bring food if you take the bus back. I left Machu Picchu around noon and hiked back to hydroelectric to catch bus and got back to Cusco at 10pm and was wishing I had brought a sandwich with me.

Great 5 days of trekking
Sep 2019
this was a great few days of hiking and the scenery was breathtaking. there were some long days but good food was provided and comfortable sleeping at night too. be prepared for all weathers, sun, rain, cold and winds. it all added to the experience, 2 nights camping and 2 nights in hostels which were all excellent. we had a good guide and our group was just 5 people which made it more personal. the hot springs were a welcome relief on weary muscles!, but be aware they are a haven for mosquitos, wear bug repellent and long trousers and sleeves when not in the springs. the zip lining on day 4 is extra but so worth it, take your go pro or the like. there was just the first night where hot showers were not available, no one minds, the staff on these treks do an incredible job to make the experience all the better, we had a fantastic time

Sep 2019 • Couples
Hats off to Jonathan, our patient tour guide , young fella Jesus and Javier and Pappi the horseman/cook who made the difference m this trip. The hike for tge first 2 days was moderate to extremely difficult but our guide was so patient with us and the new friends we met we mt in this group are cohesive and supportive of eqch step of the way. Day 3 we had a break at a nearby hot springs and helped soothe our achy muscles.
Day 4 was zip line day ( you should bot escape) and walk to a village at the foot of Machu Picchu tired but not yet done,is the hike to Machu Picchu today!
I am glad i didi this trek than the Inca trail because of the varied sceneries, places, culture and villages we passed along the way!

Salkantay 5d/4n trek with Yang Zhu tour guide. An amazing time!
I've just finished this trek as a solo traveller. It has been an amazing experience, our tour guide Yang Zhu was always very friendly, helpful and funny. On the first day he introduced our group to some card games which helped bring everyone together, this was particularly useful for me being on my own.

Before the tour started Conde were always very helpful, informative and the per departure brief was very useful to understand what would be happening every day and to make sure I had all of the equipment I would require.

The food on the tour was very good and there always was so much of it! This was perfect because i was always very hungry after a long days hiking.

The actual trek is stunningly beautiful and did not disappoint at any point. Finishing in Machu Picchu was the cherry on top of the cake.

The whole tour was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it.

5 day Salkantay + Machu Picchu was amazing!
Aug 2019 • Couples
By far the highlight of our vacation was our 5 day Salkantay pass/Inca trail hike to Machu Picchu, every day has amazing scenery. Our guide Stif was very friendly and knowledgeable and enhanced our experience! The weather varies from very cold at night and high altitude to very warm at lower altitude during the day, so bring warm layers but also sun cream. The trek is difficult at times but with good food, coca leaves and plenty of stops can easily be completed by the average person and is very rewarding. We opted for the zip line on day 3 which was $30 each. On day 5 the tour finished at 9am and we had free time to explore. The train was booked at 7pm from Aguas Calientes and then a minibus took us back to San Francisco square meaning we had to get our own additional taxi afterwards.

Good trek, bad communication
Jun 2019 • Friends
This trek itself was amazingggg! You really can't go too wrong in terms of a company, depending on what amenities you want. But some of the communication between the us and the company before and after was difficult. Doesn't seem like they are very organized. They also charged us $30 for the hot springs when it was actually 10 sols, which is roughly $3-4 :/. Our tour guide said they were going through changes on the website and that we would be reimbursed, but both me and my friend emailed after and no response. Just frustrating, because everything else was really great.
I would caution though for the trek itself you definitely need to be in good shape, preferably used to higher altitudes. But all in all we survived and had an amazing time!!
Alfredo is the bestttt guide his energy kept us moving at the pace we did! He also gave us so much information and options it was good to a point, but at times almost too much. Nevertheless I would tour again with him, we felt very cared after. Also shout out to gamino our personal chef he was amazing, it was the best food I had all trip from him!!
Tips bring extra sols you'll need them along the way for water, food etc. Bring everything they tell you to bring!! Also if you get car sick the bus back from Machu Picchu is aweful (and 6-7 hours) someone had motion sickness medication that saved me, otherwise I honestly would of opted for the $70 train ride. But if you're trying to save money it's still a fine option.

Unforgettable trip
Jun 2019 • Friends
Had an amazing 5 days! We were a small group of 5 and the guide Johnathan spoke good English & was so lovely, motivating & informative. Everything was organised including meals and 2 nice hostels for the 3rd & 4th nights. Second day is the most challenging but completely worth it for the view and there is the opportunity to relax in the hot springs & zipline on day 4 instead of hike (extra cost). I’d definitely recommend doing the Salkantay Trek with this company, great value for money.

4N 5D Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu
Jun 2019 • Couples
We had a fabulous 5 day tour with our guide Johnathon. Everything felt organised and we didn’t have to worry about transport or tickets at any point. It was also very clear what we were doing each day because of the meeting beforehand.

The scenery was beautiful and the second day was challenging but the views at the top made it so worth it. The other days were less challenging than I thought they would be. The two hostels at the end were also really nice with comfy beds. It was also great to be able to trek up to Machu Pichu so early and see the sunrise. I am glad we chose the 4 night tour because it meant we got to relax in the hot springs in agua Calientes and do zip lining in the morning.

Our guide was great the whole way - smiley, motivating, funny and interesting!

I would definitely recommend doing the Salkantay tour with this company.
