This was interesting, not quite what we expected, but worthwhile. Actual ATV travel was about 1 hour in 2 legs totalling 20km, so if you want heavy ATV experience, not so much. BUT, travelled to a very good archeological site whereupon our guide was EXCELLENT in giving us significant Inca history. (i.e, he was much more than just a bike jockey.) Then we travelled to the salt mines, incredible scerary and 1000 year old process, very cool, again with good info from our guide.

THINGS TO KNOW: Safety not a big worry, given the low speeds and desolate roads. The 250cc Honda bikes ran, but they were fairly well used, but sufficient for this. There is a fair amount of driving on this trip, maybe 80 minutes to arrive at start, 90 minutes to get back to the city after the end. However, the total trip lasted from 13:00 till after 19:00, so we had a solid 4 hours of activity in the middle, but allow for a later evening return time. The trip is pretty dusty, so dress accordingly, and I would suggest closed toed shoes, long trousers and sunglasses to keep dust from eyes. There is a fair bit of walking at both locations and you can take water or buy at a couple stops.

My husband and I had a fantastic time. We had a small group, only us and 1 other American couple.
First we were picked up from our hotels in car with 2 rows of back seats. We made the longer drive out to the countryside - lots of dirt roads before arriving to a property with bathrooms (yay!) and a large gravel yard with the ATV's. Learning to drive these was easier than I expected. I had never driven one before and got the hang of it in minutes.
We set off onto the dirt roads with our guide in the lead on his motorbike. We got a LOT of ride time that day - I am not sure how many hours but I'd say at least 2, if not 3? We rode to Moray, checked it out, then rode around quite a bit longer, seeing an old church and scenic view points. We ended up even driving on the real road for a short distance! Then back to drop off our ATV's & got into the car again for the Maras Salt Mines. After the mines, my husband and I were dropped off at our zipline experience, while the other couple got brought back to Cusco immediately. During this part of the day was where things got a little confusing. I don't think the guide remembered we paid for a zipline.. But it worked out. Possibly just confirm your itinerary with the guide first thing in the morning when you are picked up.
A seperate driver brought us to Cusco after our zipline. The Zipline place is AMAZING, the owner is a fun guy. I highly recommend for any adventure seeker. 3 out of 4 total zipline runs are done "Superman style" [belly down and head-first]. Very fun and scenic! Great way to spend a day.

ATV tour was super fun at a reasonable price. The salt times and Moray are stunning, and the guides do a great job encouraging less experienced drivers. Make sure you're prepared to leave the trip covered in dust!

One caveat is that the entrance fee for Moray is 70 Soles which is steep given the time spent there but the pass is good for other sites.

I felt confused and unsure for the majority of this tour. First, the drive out there was with just a driver who didn't tell us what was happening when he stopped randomly for extended periods of time, twice. Second, we arrived back to Cusco an hour and a half later than stated on the booking. Third, on our drive back to town random locals got into the van with us and nothing was said about it. The driver also kept playing the same song three times and also rotated through random Peruvian music to Nikki Manaj.
The ATVs were awesome and it was so beautiful. I wish that we'd have just ridden around for two hours rather than stop at Moray at all. Moray was underwhelming, I wish the guide would've been more excited about the site. We did receive good instruction on how to use the ATV. Throughout the ride, the guide was good at giving instructions.
Overall, I wouldn't do the tour again unless I had ample time in Cusco and was just looking to fill time.

We are truly sorry to hear you did not fully enjoyed your day. Moray is part of the tour and it is advertised on the website. The visit is optional though and each person can choose whether they want to wait or to visit the site. About the stops, the driver makes some stops so everyone can use the restroom and also so the driver can stretch his legs. Let us know if you have any other concerns.

The overall experience was wonderful. The logistics regarding not having an English guide and leaving late was challenging but I spoke to the tour company and this was an unusual situation and does not normally happen.

The views both in the van and atv were simply gorgeous. I wish there had been more time to take photos during the atv ride but we were moving quickly to keep up with the setting sun.

Some tips I didn’t pick up from reading other reviews:

-a large part of the tour is in a van. Getting to Moras is all done in the van. You do the atv part to get to moray. All in all, the total of the atv rude is 18 kilometers
-plan to get dusty! Bring something to cover up. Also if you’re on the later tour you might need it as it got quite cold as the sun was setting

II had fun and would do it again. I just wish for more daylight - I’ll book the morning tour next time!

Hello Jess, Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We understand that there were some points about the whole experience that you did not enjoy and we are really sorry about this. Yes, our guides are always bilingual, the experience you had is very unusual and we apologize if the language barrier was an issue. The information about the ATV and the van, also about the dusty road and the cold is accurate and we appreciate you sharing this here. Because of the mountains, the sun disappears early and Cusco can get very cold, specially after 4 pm. We are looking forward to our next adventure together. Hopefully we can make up for your last experience.

Had a pickup from
The hotel. Was a ride shared with 2 other people so we were sitting close to each other in a 4 person car. Went to ziplining and had a great adventure experience. Sam is a great host and experienced guide for the ziplining even though it might look scary but it was planned thoroughly. After about 2 hours we went for the ATV quad bikes and drove them to Moray and that is definitely a scenic ride with andes snow capped mountains in the background. Definitely a memorable trip. Be prepared to have a backpack with some snacks as it might get long for some. Finished the atvs and a bus took us to Salt mines and spent few minutes there. Tour is great and recommended.

This is a great tour to do as a break from more strenuous activities, like Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, or Lake Humantay. We had a lot of fun riding the ATVs and the views during the entire ride are breathtaking. We would almost recommend riding together on one ATV and then switching drivers on the way back. This way, you’ll be able to get pictures and videos of the scenery while riding. It is also tiring on the hands to squeeze and twist the ATV controls, so you will get a break by switching drivers. We wish we had a little more time at each site, but all in all, we had a terrific time!

My family and I, kids aged 15, 13, 10 thoroughly enjoyed this adventure! We visited the salt flats by bus and our tour guide gave us a great explanation of the salt mines and showed us its various features. He was very kind and knowledgeable, took pictures of our entire family! We then carried on to grab our ATVs for the circular terraces. The ATV ride was about 30 minutes each way. The kids had a blast. Explain the circular terraces in a lot of detail and gave us about a half an hour to walk around and explore the area. We were able to go faster on the ATVs on the way back, making the thrill of this adventure, amazing!

The tour first took us to the Maras salt terraces by bus because the ATV trail was under repair. I wish I knew before the tour that this was the case, which is why I’m not giving it 5 stars.

Otherwise the guide gave us a nice overview of Maras and answered our questions, we even had a moment to buy salt from local vendors. Be aware though that your engagement with the salt terraces is superficial, as you just look at them from an overlook.

We then went to the ATV garage where the guide let us practice driving on a protected trail. After everyone felt comfortable we ATV’d over to Moray, on a dirt road with some beautiful vistas. The guide made sure to check on the group often as we ATV’d to make sure everyone was OK, which as a first time rider was appreciated.

We only had 30 minutes at Maras, and I wish the tour guide talked more about the history and technology of the place. He gave a good high level overview though. We had 20 minutes to explore on our own and take pictures.

On the way back we stopped for a photo op on the ATVs, and the guide did a good job taking pictures of each individual.

Totally worth every cent!! I was very conflicted between this tour and another full day one, that would include more places I wanted to visit. But I thought the whole experience of riding ATVs through Sacred Valley wasn’t something I wanted to miss. And I’m so glad I decided on this tour!
1. The Tour Bus takes you to Maras and Moray, after which you reach the ATV office, get some basic training on riding ATVs and then take off. One tour guide is at the front, another at the back, and a third one riding parallel to us. So our entire group felt very very safe.
2. The tour guides were excellent, spoke good English and Spanish and made the tour really fun for us. As a bonus, one of them was really good at taking fun photos and videos so he graciously took a lot for photos / videos for all of us.
3. They did not rush us, and every single person on the tour was happy with the entire experience.
4. Another advantage that ATVs had was that we were able to ride through areas which wouldn’t have been easily accessible by big tour vans. And Sacred Valley is so incredibly beautiful - due to us taken the path less traveled, there was nobody else but us, and the beautiful Sacred Valley views.
I highly recommend this tour!! Trust me - you won’t regret it.
