Book this tour NOW ;) This was a wonderful experience and It could have been perfect with one change. Keep in mind this tour is all day. Your tour guide will meet you the day before to explain all, give tickets etc. Don’t try to plan anything else on this same day. You will work with a couple different people during this experience. I had no problems communicating with anyone I can into contact with because I speak Spanish. I did notice some others having a little bit of trouble. There was one point were some of the guides seemed a little bit confused on which group to take. You go from taxi to train to bus to Machu Picchu so travel light. Bring a rain jacket even if you think it won’t rain because it will I promise you. There the tour guide Daniels knowledge and kindness was wonderful. You have time to take photos and all. One you leave the train from Ollanyantamo you take another small bus if you are staying in Cusco , then you find your own transportation back to your hotel . This tour was wonderful . Don’t forget face Sheild and two masks is required on train and bus. Enjoy and book.

Long day, beautiful trip
The process was a little bit unorganized. I met with q tour guide the day before who gave me the rail tickets and park entrance tickets. The next day I was picked up by a taxi at 5:30 am to go to the train station. Once I got to Aguascalientes, I found another tour guide who stated that he would get my tickets for the bus and to meet him in 2 hours time. After 2 hours elapsed I met with the guide who then stated that we would wait another 45 minutes until we would catch a bus to Machu Picchu. On the way back, the train does not continue all the way to Cuzco it drops you off at Oyllantaytambo, where you will be picked up by q transfer service back to Cuzco. The ride back was very bumpy. Be prepared to spend a lot of free time in Aguascalientes until it’s time to enter the park. All of that set aside it was a beautiful trip with beautiful train ride.

Our tour guide was great and logistics were good! It would have been helpful to have a more clear itinerary written out for us, but it ended up going really well.

Machu Picchu 5 stars- Tour 4 stars
Dec 2019 • Couples
Be prepared to meet with a guide the day before the tour to go over details. The ride there by train was bumpy but scenic. Beautiful landscapes and small farms were around every corner. The actual tour lacked information and spent too much time for photo taking. The view was incredible and well worth it. The ride home was horrifying. We took the train halfway and were picked up by the company bus. As we weaved in and out of the mountains rockslides the size of cars were all over the road.

Stunning, Iconic, and Fulfilling

I've been to Machu Picchu twice. Once without a guide, but with an overnight stay in Aguas Caliente, and once with a guide with no overnight stay. I'd recommend going without a guide. It gives you plenty of opportunity to visit at your own pace. Watch videos online and read a book or two before you leave and you'll have much more information than you can pick up on a guided tour. I also recommend doing this in one day rather than staying overnight in Aguas Caliente. I bought the train ticket, the bus ticket and the Machu Picchu entrance online before departure, but you can do it all in Cusco. The only risk in doing it this way is that the number of visitors is regulated so you might not be able to get an entrance ticket that day. The high season for American tourists at MP is July and August.

Amazing
May 2019
Our collection of guides were very caring - making sure that we got to everywhere we needed to be. Our initial transfer from the hotel to the train picked us up late. But it was not big deal. We still made it to the train on time. Totally pack bug replant and sunscreen. A hat and good walking shoes are also a great idea.

My friend and I spent over $300 each for this tour. We chose this tour because of the inclusions and the english speaking guide. We were picked up from our hotel in Cusco at 3:45 am by a man who spoke no english. He walked us outside and pointed to a car, motioning us to get inside. We were then taken in a small car with two others to the train station, the driver was a different man who again spoke no english. Upon arrival in the town of Machu we were greeted by a tour guide who handed me a phone. On the line was a man named Richard who told me he needed me to go to the Inca Rail counter and change my train ticket home to an early time as it was scheduled for 9 pm. The time written near the printed time on our ticket was 2:30 pm. Richard instructed us to change the time to the one written on the ticket, and that if there was a charge he would reimburse us. We paid 100 sols total for the change. We were the only two in our group that had this issue. After changing our train time we waited a half an hour before we were given any further instruction as the woman who handed me the phone disappeared. When we found her again she explained to us that we would not have enough time to see Machu and get back on the train. It was barely 8 am at this point. She told us OUR tickets did not allow us into the ruins until noon (you are given three separate tickets, one which includes the actual entry to the ruins). So why were we picked up 8 hours before our actual "in time"? Had this been explained we would have been prepared with more money or just stayed in the town if we were to be there for 17 hours. And why were we told to change our train to a time that wasn't the right one? After hanging around the city that was undoubtedly beautiful, we became stressed and unsure of if we would have time to see the ruins as train tickets sell out quickly this time of year. Richard then called a man named Carlos who found me and explained to me that he got new tickets for us for 7 pm- and that when we got back to Cusco he would give us our refund. We spent as much time as we could in Machu Picchu and went to the train station at 6:10 to board. Our train was almost two hours late (probably due to weather) and at this point our "guide" was nowhere to be seen. Once we finally arrived back to the train station we were greeted by another man with a sign with my name on it. We got on the bus thankfully first, because three of our group members couldn't get on because they had overbooked the ride back to Cusco. Richard was nowhere to be seen when we arrived to Cusco, no one from the tour company has contacted me about the extra money we had to pay, and we ended up getting ripped off by a cab driver as the tour did not include hotel drop off.

Bottom line, you do not need a guide to go to Machu. It would have been ten times better for us to go alone, and probably would have saved us $150 USD each.
