Maras, Moray and Chinchero Private Day Trip from Cusco
US$99.00
Overview
Peru’s Incan architecture attracts visitors from all over the world, but the country’s impressive ruins are only half the story. On this private full-day sightseeing tour, visit the fertile terraces of Moray, the salt mines of Maras, and the fortified walls of Chinchero, and learn how the Incas not only lived, but thrived. With round-trip travel from your Cusco accommodation, you’ll also have time to learn about Incan textile-weaving techniques.
What to Expect
Following a morning pickup at your Cusco accommodation, meet your private guide and take a seat in your vehicle. Then, travel in comfort past fertile wheat fields and traditional villages to Moray. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views over the snow-capped peaks of the Andes Mountains.

On arrival, explore Moray and admire the amphitheater-like terraces for which the site is famous. With your guide to lead the way, learn how the terraces were used by the Incas to grow crops and gain insight into a civilization lost in time.

Next, head onward to the salt mines in the village of Maras—where salt is believed to have been produced since pre-Inca times. Discover over 3,000 salt pools carved into the mountains, and learn how the nutrient-rich waters produce salt.

Continue on to Chinchero, home to ancient Incan structures including altars, squares, and fortified walls, alongside more modern colonial buildings. As you explore, learn of the advanced techniques the Incas employed in their construction work.

In the afternoon, delve into the world of Andean textiles and discover traditional weaving techniques dating back to the days of the Incas. When your time at the weaving workshop comes to an end, return to your Cusco hotel to conclude your tour.

A lot of travel agents in Cusco offer different tours and transfers. You would not have a problem finding an option. Most of them are around the busy main square.
