Overview
Journey from the Tibetan capital of Lhasa to the foot of the world’s highest peak on this private 8-day tour, including accommodation, private transport and transfers, and some meals. Check out Lhasa highlights like the UNESCO-listed Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace and the Drepung and Sera monasteries. Then, journey to the mountain villages of Gyantse and Shigatse, stopping to admire views over the sacred Yamdrok Lake and visit Gyantse Kumbum. Finally, cross the dramatic Gyatso-la Pass and arrive at Everest Base Camp in time to see the sunset over the mighty peak.
What to Expect
Your Tibetan adventure with your own private local guide starts in the capital city of Lhasa and continues to the small towns of Gyantse and Shigatse before arriving at Everest Base Camp, the mountain's northern base camp in Tibet.

(About Everest Base Camp: Mt Everest has two base camps, the southern camp in Nepal and the northern camp in Tibet. The southern camp is part of the more popular climbing route and is only accessible by hiking in; the northern camp — the one you will visit on this tour — is accessible by both walking in and by vehicle.)

In Lhasa, you have a few days to get acclimated to the high altitude and enjoy both guided sightseeing activities and free time to walk around the old city on your own. Then leave the city by comfortable van or minibus operated by an experienced driver, and head toward the Himalayas, passing beautiful temples and monasteries, remote villages, snow-covered mountains, sacred lakes, and herds of sheep and yaks.

Accommodation includes 4-star hotels in Lhasa and Shigatse, and a rustic tent guesthouse at Everest Base Camp. Other than breakfasts at the hotels, meals are not included, allowing you the flexibility to choose what and where to eat. Your guide can suggest restaurant options in each place you visit.

Your private tour includes pickup and drop-off in Lhasa, transport, entrance fees and Tibet travel permits; simply provide your passport details and China entry visas right after booking.

Please see Itinerary below for details on each day of the tour.
