The language barrier makes Hong Kong’s diverse street food hard to navigate without a guide. Let your personal foodie explain exactly what makes the city’s culinary culture tick over 10 separate tastings and a market visit. Taste everything from shrimp wonton to pineapple bun, sample dim sum at a Michelin-recommended teahouse, and experience the unique taste of sugarcane juice.

What to Expect
On this private tour you can learn about the huge variety of ingredients that make Hong Kong cuisine so unique, and why that variety is so essential to the city’s society. Starting with a stroll around a dry fish market you’ll see sea-cucumbers, genuine birds’ nests, colorful dried fish and more. Your private host can show you all these foods and explain how the locals use them to create wonderful dishes.

Then it’s time to treat your taste buds to 10 delicious tastings. Terrific food that gives you the true flavor of Hong Kong. Whether you’re a fan of signature dishes like Shrimp Wonton or the more exotic tastes of sugar cane juice, you can enjoy it all on this private tour.

Your host will guide you to a Michelin-recommended tea house. Popular with the locals, the atmosphere is always vibrant and authentic – with so much to see, smell and hear. Here you can enjoy different types of delicious dim sum, with selections brought to your table on wheeled carts pushed by friendly old ladies. With kettles boiling, people talking - or quietly reading their newspapers - and music playing, this is a treat for all your senses.

Time for another local treat, a pineapple bun: warm sweet bread with salted butter. Enjoy it like the locals do: queue, buy, go, munch. Delicious! Then wash it down with a refreshing milk tea. Don’t forget to ask your local host why the pineapple bun is called that name, after all, there was no pineapple. Everything is curious in this amazing city.

Along the way of this tour you can pass by some of the famous highlights of Hong Kong, and your host can tell you all the stories behind them. So you’ll get to learn about the local history and culture. Our awesome locals who guide this private tour are huge foodies and can tell you all about Hong Kong cuisine and its influencers.

Get ready to enjoy Hong Kong, just like a local!

Great time on this Hong Kong tour

We had a great time with Matteo. Although our tour was booked as food based he added some general sights and attractions that were an added bonus and were very interesting. We would recommend taking a tour with Matteo when visiting Hong Kong.
