A good tour
Mar 2020
Corona virus meant that the cable car wasn't running and we had to travel by car instead of the ferry to the island. However, the big Buddha and the fishing village were definitely worth seeing and the vegetarian lunch at the monastery was very tasty. Ken, our guide, was excellent as well. Worth doing.

A great day trip - definitely worth it
Jan 2020
We were pleasantly surprised to find that this group tour ended up being a private tour for my partner and I, so that was fun. We were picked up by bus and dropped off at the ferry terminal where we met our guide. After our ferry trip over to the island we were driven to the fishing village where we explored the area and enjoyed a lovely river cruise with some sweet pineapple bread.
We were then taken to the Giant Buddha where we learned about the history and construction. The museum inside was amazing. We had some free time here to walk around the outside of the statue, appreciating it's size and beauty while taking many photos.
Once we climbed back down the stairs, we had lunch at a vegetarian restaurant, which provided good food.
We were escorted through the beautiful Monastery before our guide added an extra walking tour through a nearby park which lead to the Wisdom Path.
The best way to end the day was to return by cable car, a fantastic way to see Hong Kong from above. It was especially nice to skip the line to enter.
Thank you for a fantastic day trip! Highly recommended.

One of the highlights of my trip to Hong Kong
Jan 2020
The Big Buddha, made of Bronze stands at the top of 268 steps and is an impressive 34 metres high. It commands the area around it and you can see it from many places on Lantau Island. It was a highlight to come to see this amazing structure which was build in 1993. There are great views from around the Buddha and you can also go inside and look around the bell and other artefacts.

At the bottom of the steps and just little way away is the Lin Po Monastery which is one of the more important Monasteries in the Buddhist religion. There is also the Hall of 10,000 Buddhas close by. A pleasant vegetarian meal can be had in the Monastery and is part of the tour taken. There is only tea or water served so you would nee to take soft drinks with you if that is what you prefer.

Also as part of the tour is a walk around Tai O a fishing village with houses built on stilts. There is a walk through the shows selling a lot of dried fish, which is deemed a delicacy as a staple of the Chinese/Hong Kong diet. There is walk also a visit to a local temple with great explanations of local life and worship.

Once you have finished at the Buddha there is a lovely walk down to the cable car through the Ngong Ping village which has a host of shopping opportunities as eateries. Onto the Cable Car - do try the glass bottomed car for that all round experience. My wife is scared of heights and managed to complete this and found it breath taking. The cable car ride is around 25 minutes top to bottom and the views are amazing.

A wonderful way to see the sights without the hassle of trying to get there yourself is view this tour. Makes it so much easier, although I am sure you would save a lot of money if you did make your own way there/back.

Great day in Hong Kong
Jan 2020 • Friends
We had a wonderful time in this Lantau tour. KC was a great tour guide. He gave us lots if interring information. He also had a great sense of humor. The lunch at the Monastery was wonderful. We were a bit Leary because it was vegetarian. We didn’t expect much but we’re very pleasantly surprised. The giant Buddha was beautiful as was the monastery. If you have a day in Hong Kong this is a great trip to do.
Only drawback was the bus transportation to get to the start if the tour. We did a lot of changing busses and waiting around.
We would do this again.

Very nice for a day trip with long layover. Special preference for Credit Card holders.
Feb 2019
I had 9 hrs to kill in HK airport. I am an Indian citizen with US green card. I converted about USD 20 to HK dollars and took a bus from outside the airport. the folks in the airport are very friendly and seemed that they gave all necessary information...yet, there was some confusion.

When I got off the bus, I was asked to check in my carry on even though the folks at the airport told me I could take my carry-on with me. There are hundreds of people. Its very busy. i had an option of leaving my carryon in the airport, but the line there was super long. I had to pay for checking in my carry on once i reached the buddha place. But when they found out i was paying my credit card, I was whisked from the line of hundreds of people all the way to the very beginning of the line.

I bought the nominal package and rode the tram to the buddha. There was no pressure to buy more or less. The ride to the buddha place is spectacular and loved every moment of it. There were ample places to eat and shop. The city views are hard as there seems to be only jungle all around. And there were dogs running loose and cows as well. Wonder how they made it up there?? The climb up and nice, but again there are tons of people and getting a good shot is hard. Overall I was able to make it back with lots of time left,

This is a great day out if you also include Tai O fishing village. Do it yourself though as it is much cheaper and you can visit the Tung Chung Outlet shop whilst you are there. As I mentioned in a previous article catch the MTR .from wherever your hotel is to Tung Chung, walk around the building in front of you when you exit the station and you'll see the cable car system, go there buy a ticket and get to the top where you will find the Buddha and eat places and the Monastary . Spend a few hiurs there to have a look then catch the bust to Tai O fishing village and a bus from there back to Tung Chung. Very enjoyable day.

Nov 2019
Took the tour with Crystal. Met at the ferry terminal in central Hong Kong and took the boat to the island. A van picked us up and took us to the fishing village, which was very interesting. Then went to the big buddha and monastery. Lunch was great and the cable car back down the mountain was amazing.
