    Yangon (Rangoon)
    Stop: 8 hours
We will start the day with a cup of coffee or tea & appetizer at our post colonial style house. After a short introduction about your tour guide (me), we will learn a little bit of “survival” Burmese words for better communication with locals - which definitely will bring you and locals closer later on during your trip in Myanmar. We will leave the house, and begin our adventure by walking to a local market. I’ll challenge you to duel - to see if you can haggle your way through the market with the words you’ve just learnt. On the way back from the market, we will have young handsome men carry us home, where we’ll prepare our first traditional dish together - the most famous Burmese dish - using a hundreds year old recipe. Traveling is not all about seeing new places. It’s also about getting to know its history, culture & traditions. We will unveil the exciting 1,000-year evolution of the land of Burma – from the the 9th century till common era, while perceiving its culture and traditions. Time for lunch!!! I will reveal to you my secrets to preparing the BEST Burmese signature dish - you are bound to love! “Bon Appétit… and leave some space for dessert.” The adventure continues in the hidden villages: After lunch, we will take a relaxing boat ride to the unseen places on the other side of the river. We will visit to 3 villages where there is authenticity, humbleness and (a lot of) smiles. It’s hard to put the experience that you will get in the villages in words - I’d just describe that you will have an UNFORGETTABLE time. We will come back to this side of the river at dusk, and we’ll venture straight to the vibrant night market and experience the local nightlife while tasting a lot of delicious street food. (I promise you will love it!) At approximately 6:00PM, we will be back home, and that is where we will say goodbye.

Very Interesting Experience
Mar 2020
Purchased tour on-line to Do Burma, A Burmes Adventure. Took a cab from our hotel. Met on the street by our guide for the day, Mo. He lives outside the city and comes in by bus when he has a tour to lead. Not sure who’s house he was operating out of, but there seemed to be a couple living there. Mo had full run of the house.
Besides the four of us there was another couple from Great Britain in their 20’s. Mo took us upstairs and gave us our first assignment for the day. We were all going to the local market and we had to purchase specific items. We were to see which couple could purchase these items for the least money. Prior to going to the market we learned a few of their essential words and numbers. We walked to the market where My spouse & I purchased the items for 450 MMK, Our friends beat us by 100 MMK. Came back to the apartment by trishaw. At the apartment we cut up the items purchased and made Tea Leaf Salad. Consisted of the items we purchased plus two bags of cashew nuts, a bag of seasoning, oil, salt and pepper. The salad was quite good. We went back upstairs for a little cultural and historical information. When this was over we walked down to the local tea house on the corner. They offer bitter, semi-sweet and sweet tea, depending upon the amount of
condensed milk they add to the tea. Semi-sweet tasted almost like chocolate.
Back to the apartment and learned how to dress with the Longi. Ladies tie theirs differently then the men. Men tie so they have a pocket in the front to carry keys, money or phone. Pronounced loozhe. Learned about the yellow paste the people wear on their faces. Outside and took a ride in the back of a truck to the river. The waterfront was extremely filthy, with all kinds of trash and plastic bags everywhere you looked. Went across the river in one of the local boats. The river water was a
deep chocolate color, very muddy, with lots of flotsam. This water was even more trash filled than the Nile. Landed in the town of Umya. Not sure of spelling. Did not see cell phones here, although there were TVs. Mo explained about the chewy thing the people seem to enjoy. They have lakes for different purposes depending upon cleanliness. One for showering and washing clothes and another for drinking water. The one for drinking water had lily pads floating on top. Visited one family’s home. Very basic with storage on the front porch and on the loft on the 2nd floor. Basic cooking area, one small bedroom and small bathroom (did not see contents). Basic necessities only. Rode on motorcycles to see where their drinking water come from in a different community. Rode motorcycles back to our new boat.
Boat back across the muddy river to a different, but still filthy, dock. We took a cab back to our hotel from this point. Definitely a different experience and one we should all take to see what life if like for other people.

Must do experience
Zayar is a wonderful human being with a huge fantasy. He will guarantee you an adventurous day with plenty of excellent food, the nicest cooking class, boat trip on a river, visiting local markets, best tee shops and, most importantly, villages across the river that you would never discover without him. This experience will be unforgettable.

Perfect start to our time in Myanmar
This tour felt like 3 tours in one! Started with an introduction to Myanmar's history, culture and language, then we were off to a local market to practice our newly learnt language skills to purchase ingredients for lunch. Had a bit of a cookery demo with our guide, Mo, rustling up tea leaf salad and Mohinga. Stopped in at a tea house to sample the local tea, then off we went by boat to the other side of the river to visit local villages. Back late afternoon we visited a local market where Mo took us to a few street food stalls to try local delicacies. Mo was the perfect host, he was really passionate about sharing his country with others and would happily answer our questions. Booked easily by contacting the company directly via WhatsApp. Perfect intro to Myanmar.

A different day in Yangon
We read about this trip on Tripadvisor and was quirious on what to expect. It turned out to be a very interesting day with cooking, culture learning, politics and visits to local markets and villegas that few are able to explore on their own. Mo was really good and gave us a great day!
